Returning bonus or bundle items

Bonus items, or free gifts, are items that were included free with certain purchases. Bundle items are items that came as part of a combo or package promotion with another item. You are able to return both bonus and bundle items but there are special conditions to keep in mind. Learn more below.

Returning a bonus item

If you wish to return a bonus item, you will need to return both the item that you paid for and the bonus item to be eligible for a refund. Bonus items can be exchanged only if they are defective.

How to return a bonus item:

  1. Check the item’s return policy - If you wish to return a bonus item, you will need to return both the item that you paid for and the bonus item to be eligible for a refund. Bonus items can be exchanged only if they are defective. Most purchases from Best Buy can be returned or exchanged for up to either 14 or 30 days from the date of purchase, depending on the type of product and the condition of its return. Make sure the item you paid for is eligible for return using our product-specific return policies.
  2. Pack everything up - Make sure you have all the parts of your bonus item, including original accessories. In order to start your return or exchange, you'll need everything that was in the box, plus any extras that came with your purchase. 
  3. Bring your proof of purchase - Make sure you have your receipt, ID, and original payment method so we can start your return. 
  4. Head to a Best Buy store - You can check the status of your local stores by using our store locator. Some stores may have limited operations due to provincial regulations. Learn more about any service changes in your province.  
  5. Check-in or talk to a Blue Shirt -If available, use our Check-in option to help speed up the process and increase safety. Instead of waiting in line, you can save your spot and do something else while you wait. Just follow the signs at your store or get a Blue Shirt to help, and we'll tell you when it's your turn.

Please note that all defective and non-defective items (including bonus items and free gifts) must be returned in their original purchase condition, with their original packing material, blank warranty cards, manuals, and any other item or accessory provided by the manufacturer.


Returning a bundle item

Bundling items together allows us to offer them to you at a (combined) lower price than if you were to purchase them all separately.

If you decide to return one (or some) of the items included in a bundle, you will be charged the stand-alone price for the items you wish to keep, which may be higher, then refunded for the items you wish to return.
