the screen works.

This product CANNOT handle Windows 10, as it moves slowly, gets lost in updates. There is ZERO Linux support from Acer. Even with a light Linux install, only the screen and mouse/keyboard work. There is no internet, no sound, no camera.. and probably more. Extremely disappointed. Lost a lot of time and money with this purchase from Best Buy.

Excellent little 2 in 1

I've only had this for 2 days, so this review might change... I purchased this to replace a Lenovo Yoga 2 in one that was past its best before date (DO NOT buy a Windows tablet with only 32GB Hard drive!) This has decent specs - 4GB RAM, 64 GB Hard drive, Windows 10 Home 64 bit, Micro sD slot, decent keyboard, great hinge design... It has no bloatware on it aside from the typical MS junk games, and they are easy to strip out. Performance is solid - apps and web pages load quickly, the touch screen is very responsive, and the keyboard, although a bit cramped, is good. Battery life is excellent - 9 hours plus on the first charge, which included a ton of setting up, installing apps, surfing, etc. unlike others, I have had no problems with the WiFi dropping. The sound is tinny, but this is a tablet, not a sound system. And you can connect external speakers to it by plugging them in or by bluetooth. The cameras front and back are only 2 MP, but I didn't buy this to take pictures. I have a decent cell phone and camera for that. Keep in mind what this is. It is not a replacement for your regular PC.It would not be suitable for a college or university student. It is not a gaming unit. It is not a sound system or a camera. It is a portable Windows tablet with a decent keyboard. It will happily run your Windows desktop applications like Office. It is expandable with the Micro sD slot (and the sD card does NOT stick out, although one reviewer said it does - it does not.) Also, if you format the sD card as ntfs, you can map it to a folder on C: and use it as a system drive for applications such as Dropbox, G Drive, etc... So, all in all, it is a great little mini laptop that can be converted with a tug into a great tablet. So far... Derrick

Decent 2-in-1

Strong battery life and reasonable performance. You get what you pay for. After updating the Realtek rtl8723bs sdio driver the Wifi performance has increased. Wifi still cuts out infrequently. Applying Windows updates after this has made this device perform well in most scenarios. Apart from the Wifi issues this device runs fairly smoothly despite the specs. Do not expect high performance from it and you'll be fine

Utterly useless - don't buy

After staring up the laptop, it downloaded windows updates for 2 days (not kidding). The last update was between 3-6 gb at which point most of the 55gb harddrive was full (and by the way you cannot save any applications to an external SD drive as it is not recognised as a system drive). I called Acer support, was referred to Microsoft and spent another 2 days trying to install a new image of windows on the device. After that failed due to the UEFI bios and missing drivers, I called acer support who would not assist me. I am now trying to get bestbuy taking back this miserable device.

Had it for a year-avoid.

I work in IT, was looking for something modest and light weight and I bought it. Does okay with light browsing. Does not take Windows as a Service very well, does not skype, or facebook chat or Hangouts well. Drivers are MS Windows only, a real chore to run anything else, more hassle that it's really worth. I regret the purchase.

Great laptop combo for light use pruposes!

i purchased this laptop combo for work (retail sales and thus far it has been extremely useful! The tablet function allows me to flip the screen to show customers product, etc. Very happy with the product for light usage and the staff in the Barrie location we're extremely helpful!

Very Disappionting

Slow but acceptable speed which I expected, but speakers are poor quality with very low volume. Keeps dropping Wi-Fi connection. Returned

you get what you pay for.

This is exactly what I was looking for: - compact - lightweight - windows 10 64 bit - detachable keyboard - touch screen - ports (all mini versions) - transforms to tablet - super long battery life. // Now, a lot of the complaints say that it's slow. I thinned out the Windows 10 operating system, and it's running real smooth now. Don't expect: high performance speed. Thinning out an OS (Especially Windows) is a manual, advanced task. I got this unit primarily for meetings. It's got Internet, a nice big screen, more than enough space, enough performance... it works. It was exactly what I was looking for. The best part is - you save money. It was exactly what they said it was, an OK computer, with sweet features. Very satisfied with this purchase.

Great travel device!

Great as a light-duty desktop (via micro-HDMI - 1080p@60Hz) to a monitor or projector (I use a 300 inch projector) as well as a tablet, tent, media (great in jets) and laptop (the hard keyboard is better for on lap use). Ports are USB 2.x only but work well with optional dongles such as GPS/GLONASS (MS maps for en-route voice assisted driving), Ethernet & ports and so on. Separate 5VDC@3A power adapter so the tablet micro-USB is free for other use. Keyboard is so-so and NOT back-lit but the unit works well with optional blue-tooth keyboards, speakers and mice. Internal speakers are OK and it works fine with hardwired or blue-tooth speakers and headphones. HD screen, pretty good color and brightness. I output to a 24" 1080p @ 60Hz display when at my workstation. Some PWM @ 60Hz which can cause eye strain on some users when internal display is below 70% brightness. 4GB RAM, 64-bit Windows & 64 GB eMMC (fast about 140 read/write) - I also added a 256GB Samsung microSD for data. Handles some photo editing on the road as well as my business basics and battery life is very good (about 8 hours, 12 hours on a jet with WiFi/BT off).

Got one of them, wouldn't old a charge for more than a couple of hours (when OFF and with the KB on it).Charge will last what it should be when keyboard is removed. Also loosing wifi frequently.ACER told me to ship it so they can fix it ..i didn't bother, will get a IPAD next time,i'm done with ACER.I gave 1 star because i had no choice, won't let review true if no star is selected.

Only 2GB RAM!

Slow, low performance due to only 2GB of RAM installed, W10 needs at least 4GB. Youtube will only play at 480, there isn't enough to run at 720p. Not able to upgrade it to 4 or more as its proprietary on the Mobo. You have to read the box and look in the system file to verify its 2GB. The web description is wrong. Returned for refund.

I took it back

This looks like a great little unit online, so I bought it. It's a nice compact size, nice silver case. Unfortunately it has some shortcomings. The power cord is very weak construction, is in a very vulnerable spot.on the side of the unit and the cord is very short. Sound is very very poor. I could have put up with these problems but the final thing was the wifi connection, both the speed and reliability. It doesn't have AC or 5 g connectivity, but this particular unit couldn't even maintain a connection at 2.4 g. Since it doesn't have any input for cat5 cable, there's no other way to connect to the internet without having wifi. I took it back and paid a hundred dollars more for another ACER unit and it's great.

Nice small unit

I wanted something small for a specific purpose, and this seems to fit the bill. So far I am really happy with it. It seems to work fairly quickly but there are a few things to be aware of . The AC is located in an awkward spot - it's halfway up the side of the tablet side and it looks like it could be easily broken. It would have been better to have located it at the bottom side of the tablet unit. The sound playback is fairly low volume and quite tinny. I was surprised to find that it doesn't recognize or connect to 5G networks, which means that it can only attach to 2.4 wifi, which is much slower. I do like the size and the hard shell case, and the hinge unit looks good for quick connect/disconnect.

Pretty good so far

I just got this device 2 weeks ago and my main purpose was to be able to read stuff online while lying down, as I am having problems with my back but I have to do a lot of reading online, so this was my solution. So far, it works quite well for that purpose - yes, the tablet part is somewhat heavy compared to my ereader but it's not a real problem. As it comes with Windows 10, it's very easy to adjust the brightness, so it's not hard on the eyes. I find the response time a little slow sometimes, but it seems to have more to do with the website I'm seeing at the time than the device itself, so I guess time will tell which it is. Finally, I guess I am not as demanding as other users but I watched a movie and I thought it looked fine, so I will be using it to watch some more. Again, at this time I am happy with my purchase and would buy it again.

The perfect device for some people

If you need to run Windows software, need portability, like to use a touch screen, need a device that can survive on the road, and don't have much cash or don't want to risk much cash on a device that might get lost or stolen, this might be the perfect device for you. With solid state hard drive, taking this device on a bumpy car ride while in operation won't cause damage like it would to the hard drive found in most laptops. This also makes it start and run faster than some entry-level laptops. The screen was fine, although I'm older and needed my normal glasses. I watched a movie for a while and it was enjoyable enough that I could see myself doing it regularly. The case seemed solid, as did the hinge between the tablet and keyboard. Running multiple things at once will slow it down, and it won't hold a movie collection, but if you want a powerhouse with a high resolution screen, don't think that you're going to find it in this price range. Runs for 12+ hours without recharge! (At least in my use) This device was for my daughter, but after setting it up and using it for a week, I was sorry to give it up.

Piece of junk - would be 0 stars if I could

Where do I start... It wouldn't hold a charge, so every time I turned it on it was dead and had to be plugged in. I ended up returning when it wouldn't turn on at all. It kept disconnecting from my WiFi, so I constantly had to turn off and back on the WiFi. It wouldn't pair via Bluetooth. It's so much heavier than a regular (Samsung, iPad) tablet, even without the keyboard, and it was nearly impossible to find a suitable tablet cover. Overall it's a piece of junk, and the only good thing about it was that I didn't have any fuss returning it.

Piece of crap - would be 0 stars if I could

The only good thing about this product is that I was able to return it without any fuss. Where do I start... It took forever to load, even when it was "empty". It wouldn't hold a charge, and in fact I returned it when it wouldn't turn on anymore. It's very heavy, even with only the tablet and not the keyboard. They say it has 2 USBs but that's a lie: it has one USB in the keyboard, and the other is the micro-USB that you use to charge it. In tablet mode, the keyboard keeps disappearing while you're typing so that every few letter you have to hit the keyboard icon for it to pop up again. It's also very had to find a case for it. Overall, it's a piece of crap, and I would have given it 0 starts if I could.

Nice small laptop/tablet

I got this as a present. My daughter uses it for school work (elementary). Word, excel, power point. She uses this for mathletics. I have used it for browsing. Nice little unit. I liked the 4gb ram and 64 gb storage. I would buy it again. I'm having a hard time finding a case for it.

Not the best at being a laptop or a tablet but adequate at both. That being said a few observations; the removal of the screen from the keyboard is excellent. The power plug into the tablet very weak. There is a bit of time/pressure required for the screen to react. The tablet portion is somewhat heavy. The screen is better then average for most tasks, however if playing a game there is serious judder? Overall I am happy with my purchase.

Close but not quite

Bought it on sale and it performs okay for the price but I cannot get past the screen. There just isn't any reason to build a 10 inch tablet without a 1920x1080 screen anymore. It's borderline on a 7 or 8 inch tablet, but it's unacceptable on a 10 inch. If this had a higher resolution screen it would be a winner! Took it back...

2 years leading to a great event.

2014: Insignia 8" tablet, broke. 2015: Proscan 7" tablet, bad. 2016: Acer 10.1 2 in 1, Amazing. The hinge is awesome. i used in while writing the review. The Quad Core x5 is powerful enough to handle CS:GO, Minecraft and Undertale. the 4 GB of RAM was plentiful, considering your I pad has 2GB. The tablet mode was light and comfortable to hold, while giving a small keyboard, surprisingly comfortable for my bigger hands. with an adapter, and its docked, you have 2 USB ports. Only a few dislikes; It thinks there is a sleep button and a power button, so that was confusing. The charger is a bit weird, but you can use a standard USB charger though, But i used the micro USB port with an adapter to get an extra USB port so i can use a controller in Tent mode. Those speakers are screechy and sensitive, a sudden sound comes from the speakers, it screeches, and you need them at 90% to hear anything. Overall, i was picking at tiny things, for light gaming, browsing and chatting. best in its class (DROP MIC).

  • from Toronto, ON

piece of junk

if this review is poorly presened, it's the fault of the device being reviewed. The two gig version is a waste of money (and so is Windows 10). wolf in sheep's clothing with four gigs. stay away laddies and lassies.

Great Unit

Fairly quick, easy to set up and update. Very little bloatware. Good screen and battery life. Very please overall.

Good 2 in 1 windows tablet

I was originally looking for a 10 inch tablet with windows that i could afford for multi-purpose use ( vehicle, home, etc.) I wanted the 64 gig memory because windows uses a lot of memory and wanted to run some other apps without any problems. So when i saw this on sale i figured why not give it a shot. Turns out to be a great little computer, whether tablet or small laptop. Of course it is a little on slow side, cameras are basically useless( i don't care), wifi is not ac, and is heavier than average tablet. But display, battery, touch screen, wifi, keyboard, quality and just over all operation is good. Almost all ports are micro, so some adapters may be needed for your use. Compared to having to buy others at twice the price, this cannot be beat.

A pretty good tablet with a keyboard!

Bought it two days ago. I did not expect much from this machine as it is with Intel Atom Processor and it is a cheap one (300 CAD + tax). However, having tried Atom + 2G RAM + dual core + 32G SSD, it make a big difference if you have Atom + 4G Ram + Quad core + 64G SSD. I have enough storage to install what I need (Full MS office, SPSS, other statistical analysis programs) and they run well (not as fast as my another laptop with i7 8G RAM but OK enough to run those data analytics programs like SAP Lumira, R, and SPSS). Also, keyboard is much more solid than that of MS surface. The only problem is that it has only 1 USB port, but I can use a USB hub only when I need. Recommended!
