Great for productivity & Linux

This was my first chromebook. Was kinda skeptical of Chrome OS at first but not LOOOOOVE it! Chrome OS is surprisingly useful for business people, and by installing Linux via crouton with xiwi you have everything you need to be productive all in one system! Oh, just add in an SD card for extra local storage, along with the Google Drive cloud... and I am on cloud 9! This is a great little laptop that has actually become my primary device. Light weight, take anywhere, attractive, surprisingly capable / powerful enough to do everything I need like graphic designing (Gimp & Inkscape), and everything else I used to use other computers for. Battery lasts a long time for me despite the problems reported by others, and what can I say... I am very very happy with this purchase. Considering the quality of this Acer product I am seriously debating between getting another Acer chromebook next, but honestly the pixelbook is also tugging at me. Though I *want* a higher end chromebook I must admit that this one is all I need for now. With a quad core processor & 4 gigs of ram, nice screen, etc, this machine is hard to beat at this price point. I would highly recommend it for business people. Maybe a University student too, but I would recommend a cheaper chromebook for little kids. Big tip! Google how to install XFCE Linux via crouton with xiwi for a seamless Chrome OS & simultaneous Linux experience... forget about Windows, or dare I say even Macs!

UK Keyboard

The display model at the store is the US version. The one in the package is a UK version. Not a big deal, just the keyboard layout is different. If you need a US version, double check what is actually in the box. Overall I still like it

Do not buy

This chromebook has got some serious battery issues, I’ve had this chromebook for over one year and am still using and love how fast it is and the functionality, but the battery defect issue is unacceptable and acer is not acknowledging this. I can barely get it to charge 20% and I can only use it for 1 hour at a time, it’s a great chromebook and I love it , I’ll see if I can get the battery replaced , and acer should pay for the replacement because I’m not the only one having this issue, maybe others have had better luck with this chromebook.

Excellent on the go computer

I have had this for over a month now and it is still excellent. Extremely portable, easy to use when you get used to a combo of keyboard and touch screen. The build quality is very robust, the battery lasts a long time. One person said it won't work with other cloud storage, but as long as the other storage has a Google Android app it will work fine, as Chrome Books can run any app an Android phone can run. I'm not totally fussy about the white colour, but it is fine.

Great if you like the french keyboard

Just got this chromebook and was very excited to try it out! Unfortunately, the left hinge isn't on straight and apparently this laptop is only available with the bilingual keyboard layout. The pictures on this website as well as the Acer one are very misleading. As a result of this, it's being returned tomorrow.

Great but...

This is a great little machine. It's a very good price point with 32 GB of storage and a touchscreen but unfortunately here in Canada it's apparently only sold with the bilingual keyboard. For those of us used to the normal US keyboard layout this is really, really painful when touch-typing. I'm always missing the skinny enter key and hitting the key to the left of it instead. Docking two stars because it really is annoying!

Battery stops charging

Let me just start by saying that this is a very good chrome book, it’s got a nice screen resolution , it’s fast enough for my needs , but I’ve had this chrome book for over 6 months now and the battery has drained and won’t charge over 40% and is getting lower by the day. I’ve researched online and this is a known issue with these acer chrome books. There’s been a few OS updates but it doesn’t fix the problem, and I’m pretty sure acer is aware of this and refuses to acknowledge it. I’ve researched online for a fix and you have to shut the chrome book off open the back and unplug the battery, then plug the power cable back on, turn it on you should get a red light or something , and that probably resets itself , then shut the computer, plug the battery back in , it should get a full charge afterward , then it should be fixed. I will be trying this to see if it fixes it.

Acer Chromebook R11

We purchased it for our kids to use for school and they love it. Easy to use, starts up fast, versatile. A great buy!

Got this today and tried to set up other cloud storage systems, not just google drive... and it can't save to them or open from then in google docs or other apps Chrome OS or android. Unless all you need it for is web surfing and google docs only its Perfect... otherwise get a small Microsoft PC or an Ipad with a keyboard you will be better off. Returning it tomorrow. PS the store employee said no one has returned them and told me it can connect to other cloud storage easily.

Great Buy

I've had this Chromebook for 9-10 months now. It's been great so far. No issue at all. It's great for daily use and browsing internet and watching videos. Battery life is about 5-6 hours. Hardware is good quality. Performance is fast. Would definitely recommend.

Perfect Laptop/Tablet

I bought this on a whim as I already have a laptop and a tablet, I've only had it one day and I love it! The screen is so crisp and clear, the touchscreen is perfect, and I love the tablet option. My only problem is the on-screen keyboard, it's weird, keeps doing more than I type, like its guessing where I'm going but it's wrong. Hopefully it's just something I've got to get used to..

Ive owned this great machine for 5 months. I find it more and more useful every day and it has now usurped my tablet as my go to device. Chrome o/s takes some getting used to but once you do youll wonder how microsoft stays in business. The instant on and instant off is incredible. From cold boot to ready to go desktop in 8 seconds! Add in native android app support and its a homerun. Im here now buying another one. Worth every penny.

Acer R11 Chromebook

I like it except for the confusing keyboard which I'm sure I'll get used to. Very fast and fairly intuitive. My previous experience was with Macbook, Windows 8 touchscreen which I loved and after making the ill advised switch to Windows 10 touchscreen I opted for the chromebook and so far am happy.

Love my Acer Chromebook 11

I have had the Chromebook for a couple of weeks now and really like it. It is very portable and light. I use it to check my emails, use Facebook, surf the web and watch YouTube videos. I like the resolution of the screen and the speed of loading. The battery lasts a long time. Some of the games from Google Play don't work very well but I think that is the fault of the game programmers. A free Suduko program keeps crashing but the Word Cookie's game works well. I have used it as a tablet. It is a bit awkward to hold as a tablet but I have not tried tenting it. I have done some video conferencing with family and this has worked well. The microphone a and web cam work well. Overall I love it and would recommend it to others.

Acer Chromebook R11

I have been using the Chromebook for a couple of weeks now and it is a fine laptop for browsing the web, watching videos and editing documents, etc. Starts up quickly and the screen and sound are better than expected. In tablet mode it runs well and the touchscreen is very responsive. This unit also allows the use of Google Play Store Android apps. Some apps work well, but it's kind of hit and miss right now and not the fault of the Chromebook. Android developers need to rewrite their apps to work better with the laptop. Having 32 GB of storage and 4 GB of RAM makes a big difference compared to earlier versions of the Chromebook as surfing and editing is much smoother than before. The laptop is relatively light and a bit awkward for tablet use, but overall, I am pleased that I bought the Chromebook as it will be great for travelling and is a good compliment to my high powered Windows laptop.

ACER R11-Amazing

The Acer R11 Chromebook is amazing. I purchased this a week ago and it is fantastic. Easy to use, always ready. The batter lasts at least 9 hours. It is portable, the touch screen makes using it easy, and the functionality is great! I would highly recommend this computer.
