Great Laptop

I bought this as an upgrade from my lower quality laptop. I have had no issues at all after my first 3 weeks of use. It works great for gaming (low graphics settings for best performance) and general use. I would recommend this laptop to anyone looking for a high end laptop at an affordable price

As advertised

Good specs for the money. Yes, it gets hot when gaming but other than that, it wont get too hot. Speakers are fine, idk why people are complaining about that. Back lit is great, but it does go to sleep if you don't type for a while, once you start typing it comes back, I guess to save battery. The graphics card, even though its basic, helps. I run autocad and nx11 fairly smoothly. One reason I bought this over other competitors is the free 2.5" bay. It does HAVE an empty bay for you to ADD a HDD or SSD. I opened it up to make sure. It's that panel in the corner with one screw, really easy to open and close. I haven't added anything yet but plan to add another 256gb ssd when this one gets filled. Touch pad is smooth and typing is good. It is quite a fingerprint magnet though, but that shouldn't be a deal breaker. Battery is surprisingly not bad so far... depending on how you use it. If you're gaming, u might get 1-2 hrs, running programs like autocad, maybe 4-5. Normal use, browsing internet maybe a few videos here and there, easily 7-10 hrs. I can go a full day of classes not needing to charge. Oh yeah, and the webcam is literal doo doo. So don't expect much from it during skype calls.

Not bad but One issue

Laptop is not bad. Originally purchased the same Aspire 5 but with the AMD specs. Decided it was too slow so upgraded to this one. This laptop is zippy, and the build is great. The keyboard is definitely top notch. I have played some games, and many will play at high settings at 720p, or Medium settings at 1080p. The biggest issue is that the advertisement states that there is a door at the bottom for easy upgrade of the hard drive. BUT nowhere does it tell you that it does not come with the SATA cable, OR the bracket to hold a hard drive in place. So if you want to upgrade keep in mind that it only accepts M.2, and if you want the bracket and cable, you'll have to contact ACER and pay extra for it. If it wasn't for that, this laptop would be the best for the money. If you don't care about hard drive space, then I completely recommend it. But if you are like me and expected to upgrade this laptop, I would look elsewhere.

It’s good but it’s ugly as shit

Really great except when gaming

This laptop is probably fast enough for anyone, the i5 8250u is a big improvement over the last one. The screen is pretty good, it's matte, but has a lot of backlight bleeding id you're watching a movie. The real problem is that it heats up a lot and gets really loud while gaming. If you have a laptop stand or cooler or something it's worth getting

Great laptop but awful speakers

This laptop boots up and runs programs quickly and smoothly. The lit keyboard is a nice touch. The screen is matte and does not have much reflection. The graphics card is decent too. Haven't heard any noise from the fan at all. The biggest gripe about this laptop is the speakers. The first one we bought started having static the next morning. It was returned and we got another one of the exact same model. After 3 days, the same static problem. This seems to be a model issue and we will be returning this one too. Other negatives include the screen going darker immediately when the power brick is removed and the screen could be a touch brighter. This is a great laptop spec wise and we would highly recommend it if it wasn't for the speaker issue.

Solid laptop!

I recently picked this laptop up, I waited for an opened box deal and it was actually really good! The screen is nice and has good viewing angles, great for watching youtube or netflix on. The wifi is fast, its nice how it has nvidia graphics build in, although I have yet to game on this, got it more for school but its nice having that option there. It's fairly light and easy to carry around which is really nice, good for school. Battery life is decent too, usually get up to around 7.5 hours ish if im not watching videos on it, haven't needed to plug it in while im on the go. it has a backlit keyboard which is nice. Only couple minor gripes i have about it is the speakers are kinda weak and don't sound that good but still they work and get the job done plus you can plug in earbuds or pair a bluetooth audio device so really no big deal. The build quality isn't bad, it feels a little cheaper but then again this is a budget laptop, I just would be careful when putting it down and moving it around. Overall I recommend it, it's not too big either.

Get out your bacon and eggs

Had this laptop for about 1 week, under fairly light load and playing games like CS:GO & Baldurs Gate it started hitting temperatures around the 98c mark. Shouldn't be listed as a "gaming" computer if cannot handle light demanding games without cooking it's self. Customer service was good for the exchange, never had much luck with ACER products!

The fastest system

Just one click and you are in the next step. It is faster than my college computers. Very light and easy carrying. Not too much heat. The only weakness could be monitor resolution

  • from rgd

Great, BUT...

performance is good, screen is amazing and everything is great! But the only thing that worries me is the heat. When I play gta 5, the upper part of the keyboard starts to get hot, like 60 Celsius! Is that normal or is my laptop defective?

Great deal

so much better than my asus x541uv that i exchanged for this Acer laptop. It has a good battery life, it has a simple stylish design that i like, it has a beautiful IPS screen and lastly, the performance is very solid for gaming! Super good deal for what they are offering!

I needed to replace an older laptop which was just a laptop that i got because i needed one asap so it was cheap and i didn't put any research into it, fast forward about 7 years and that laptop now takes the better part of half an hour to actually start up and the internet browsers wouldn't open or work. That was my sign that it was time to look into a new laptop I spent about a month looking at what kind of things I would need in a laptop, I need something that is fast, the only game i play on a laptop is SIms4 and other than that using facebook, netflix, and music, this laptop seemed to fit the bill, lets just say so far I am extremely impressed and happy to finally have a laptop that seems to be able to keep up with my demands

Screen not detected

I've had this laptop for about a month and have used it lightly. The screen is no longer detected by the computer. I can plug an external monitor in and it works fine, but the laptop screen itself is not recognized (in windows or during boot). I'm sending it in for repair.

Great Deal

I've had this computer for about 2 weeks now. This is a relatively new laptop as of writing this review and I have to say it has amazing value. There is little bass from the speakers but that might just be standard on laptops in the industry right now. One reason I chose this laptop was because of the i5-8250U chip. It's not as light and portable as some of its competitors in the market.

This thing can game!!

I bought this laptop mainly for school work, but was pleasantly surprised by it's gaming capabilities! Played overwatch, doom, ashes of the singularity, csgo, league of legends...etc. Although when running league I first got BSOD but after updating NVidia gpu's driver the problem went away. Once again the drivers could be easily found on acer's website. Good job acer!

Very good value

Pros: - NVidia mx150 gpu - Kaby Lake R - M.2 SATA SSD from Micron - 8gb ram is more than enough - Backlit keyboard & large touchpad Cons: - Average battery life (around 7 hours web browsing with edge) - Screen colors isn't as good as competitors (but is acceptable) Overall the specs of this laptop is just impressive comparing to other laptops around the same price.

A nice computer

A nice laptop. Speed is good. It's light enough to carry around. 5 stars.

  • from Hamilton

Satisfied my gaming needs

I bought this laptop because it had the 3 criteria that I wanted: i) IPS screen for that quality resolution ii) SSD memory for speed (it boots up in 5 seconds!) iii) NVIDIA graphics card (to play Overwatch) Things I don't necessarily like about the laptop: - Sometimes the fan is too loud - The usb slots are hard to connect to. Doesn't slide in easily. - The battery life isn't bad but it could definitely be better! - The webcam sucks
