Update on my warranty repair status

Ok, so I just got my computer back from warranty repair, and it seems the bootup problems were caused by a faulty motherboard. That is very bad, a brand new computer being sold with a faulty motherboard. I guess I was unlucky. But not that unlucky, looking at the other reviews with other worse problem than not booting up occasionally. Acer replaced by motherboard with a new one and it's working properly now, booting up properly 100% of the time. Just be careful, if you see a problem with this computer, exchange it immediately for another one of the same model within two weeks, I didn't do that and I had to bring the computer to acer repair center in mississauga and wait two weeks for my computer to be repaired.

Good so far

I have had it a little over a month and I would say it is working good so far. Had an issue where the computer sometimes wouldn't boot properly from standby or even from power off state (my monitor would get no signal) but I contacted acer support and they said the problem might be software (OS) related. They advised me to factory reset the computer and I did that and now the issue is resolved. I got it on sale and I would say for the specs it was the best deal I could find in Toronto. I don't know why it was (and is) selling for so cheap given the specs and that frankly makes me a bit uneasy but hey, I shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth. It might be due to a lack of an ssd. Anyways, in terms of gaming, It runs final fantasy XV near max settings 1080p at 50-75 fps. Not to mention non gaming tasks with this 8 core beast. My opinion on bestbuy has completely changed with regards to prebuilt pc deals. I am satisfied!

Surprisingly fast and powerful

Super fast gaming machine. Works great on my high resolution 2560x1440 gaming monitor, and with my Oculus Rift for VR. This machine is worlds faster than my Core i5 was. I did my homework and this is by far the most powerful gaming system you can get for the price right now. I was a little hesitant because of the review by the guy with the Acer windows mixed reality VR headset, but I hear Windows Mixed reality is still a bit glitchy compared to Oculus and the Vive. Glad to say I've had zero problems with my Oculus Rift.

Computer quit in 2 months

The computer in 2 months. It took me over 3 weeks to get a repair and recovery disc. It did not work and the computer has been returned for warranty repairs. If allowed, I will update this review. If the difficulty in getting a repair and recovery disc is typical, it does not look good. I had considered building up my own computer (as I have done in the past). Had I done that, I would have had a working computer in less time than it took to get the repair and recovery disc from ACER. PS. This computer is only 2 to 2.5 times faster than my old ASUS with the Itel i5 cpu. (rendering videos and saving huge WP 6 files) Not as much gain as the hype suggested. Certainly not enough to justify the cost of a replacement computer

Sometimes works

I got this computer with the Acer windows mixed reality headset and controllers and it is able to run those games sometimes. I get frequent blue screen of death from 'power driver failure', and I recently restored the system after deleting everything and still see the same issues on startup.

Bought this to replace older vr system, but had to use windows recovery.

Spend hours setting up all my software and waitewd for 9 hours for microsoft to finish its update! After 1st reboot after windows update it couldnt boot??????? As i could not find a Manual i consulted the internet on how to do a recovery. I made it whipe and reset everything as it came out of the box. Here we go again install all my software "but this time i disabled microsoft update" No issues after a long setup time. It runs great and handles VR "oculus rift" very well. Also great fast gaming experience. After the initial headache, the machine it self is very capable of handling modern games at impressive settings. I am going to assume that microsoft is to blame for thew complete failure initially. Im now very happy with its performance.
