Lightweight; very fast boot-up

We were looking for a good travel laptop; one that was fast but didn't weigh much. This one definitely fits the bill. If you've never used a computer with a solid state drive, it's definitely worth the investment. The computer basically starts instantly; somewhat like a cellphone. No more waiting minutes and minutes for the operating system to load. The absence of a hard drive, optical drive, etc.. makes this laptop very lightweight, and results in long battery life. A full charge typically lasts at least 4 hours of use. This certainly isn't the least expensive laptop out there, and if you need big storage size (for pictures and videos) or an optical drive, this isn't for you. However, if weight, speed, and long battery life are important, this is a great choice.

Great product, Great Quality

Pros: -Good quality structure (No bending on keyboard) brushed aluminum feel, not a fingerprint magnet like other laptop/notebooks -Soft and quiet keys, with rubberized touch -IPS Screen (Bright screen, I dunno about the other reviews) -Good aesthetics and battery life -No bordering bezel -Powerful CPU, and good performance SSD for Read times (550Mbs) slow write times (Less important but 155Mbs) -I enjoy the glossy gorilla glass screen -Laptop stays cool and quiet -MANY features -Good for the price even against competition -Very good battery life -Nice big trackpad Cons: -Hard to open (I think to protect the border-less screen (Gorilla glass goes right to the edge) more of a heads up -Received a laptop with dirty hand prints on it and the hinge made a loud click but Best Buy resolved that in seconds in store, no hassle at all, got a new laptop. Things to consider: -Weight is more than other laptops, but it's built very well so I don't care too much for this -Finger print reads 8/10 times on the first try -The charger they made for this laptop looks quite pathetic -Lots of bloatware, but once gone it's very nice -Not for gaming, remember.. it has integrated graphics -Has space for an m.2 SSD to increase storage (Don't buy the 256gb version if you want to put your own in) This laptop here is used for school and I plan to use it for the next 4 years and I'm very satisfied for the price, good on battery, performance, and build, fingerprint could be more accurate for that odd time

Great for the $699 price

Pros -Beautiful screen -Great Keyboard(2 levels of backlighting) -Fast SSD read and write speeds -Strong Microphone -Good webcam -Great dual firing speakers -Fast CPU -The best build quality in the price range without a doubt Cons -At max performance less than 2hrs of use (can push for 8) -Screen Isn't the brightest -Fingerprint sensor takes time to adapt and eventually becomes pretty reliable

Wonderful laptop

I got this laptop about a year ago after buying one too many Asus lemons. I use it for school and it's wonderful! Start up is quick and it's been running just as fast as it did when I first got it. It also doesn't heat up at all, and the fan is really quiet, which is a bonus. I would definitely recommend this laptop to a friend.

Acer loves their FAN power in Swift series

returned it the next day due to fan always running and making that hissing noise. Bilingual keyboard is a DISASTER. IPS display is not bright enough compared to other ultrabooks. Heavier than other laptops in same category.

Love this laptop

Purchased this laptop more than 2 months ago. The battery life is above 10 hours still. I really like that there is an option to disable cursor pad to zoom in and out of pages. The primary use for my laptop is for school. So far my best laptop purchase to date.

Good but fan runs all the time

Fan running all the time in a quiet room is a deal breaker for me. Otherwise pleased with the quality and performance. I will be returning it.

it won't last very long

I don't write reviews unless it is something I really want people to know. this laptop is not a good investment. Don't buy it becase it won't last long. I can already see random white lines on the screen and it's my second day using it. it gets stuck for a second sometimes. the boot up speed gradually deceases and the fingerprint scanner occasionally works. it gets heated up just a little but enough to warrant caution because it's not doing anything to get heated up and every few minutes it will get really loud even though all I have open is a browser and like 4 pdfs. the battery doesn't last 10 hours. obviously. it is okay. maybe 5-6. I am not sure but not a lot. it's just a pattern and eventually it will get worse as with all laptops. the difference with this one will be that it will get much worse much quicker. it looks really good though. like very pretty.

2 M.2 SSD slots!

Just want to add some comments to my previous post. I opened this laptop and found that there are 1 M.2 SATAIII ssd slot (used by the 128GB ssd), PLUS 1 M.2 PCIe NVME ssd slot. (at about the power button location) So this laptop is 100% upgradable! I got some pictures but there is no way to share my pictures on BestBuy review. Swift 3 128GB or 256GB models, both are great buy. ps. if you want to do the upgrade, watch youtube first and make sure you are careful enough to do this job!

Just what I Needed

I wanted a sleek, slim, FAST, good battery, good priced laptop and I am happy with my purchase of my Acer Swift 3. The 128SSD and 8th gen i5 are extremely fast. Love that. The build of the laptop is of high quality like a MacBook which is awesome. Added bonus of a backlit keybord is nice too. Battery is extraordinarily good! I wanted a more affordable laptop but I didn't want to break the bank. It was hard because you can get most of these featuress with a cheaper ASUS or something, but the cases are terrible cheap plastic and overall is low quality. The only flaw and negative I would say is that the hard drive is only 128GB. And once you install Windows, its more like 90GB. This is the downside of getting the lightning fast SSD versus an HDD. So it sucks in that part but I'll probably just have to buy a wireless External Hard Drive or something.

Recently gave up on asus - after 6 purchases - nver again - like vw - on the banned list. Was a bit nervous of Acer but the specs were impressive. Fastest start up - better then 88% in he data base. Better yet - a solid brushed aluminum chasis vs the typical plastic -- 1080p / 8gb/w10 - whats not 2 like ? well the memory is lite but this is a bkup & travel pc for me . New, but so far, very impressed Cheers Neil ps from Taiwan which i am happy to support !

Good deal!

I bought this computer during Black Friday sales and it's amazing! Everything is fast and snappy. It has the best display and computer design.

Great Deat!

This 8th Gen laptop is really a great deal! It's very responsive, super fast, beautiful IPS display and overall very nice build. The 128GB sata ssd is not the best, but the overall performance is still very good. Maybe I will upgrade my ssd later, but I can live with the original configuration quite well. It is not very light weight, but it has full size HDMI, that is a big plus. I don't think I can get a better deal at this price. Vetry happy with this purchase!
