Leaked at 25m

Loved the touch-Lcd screen. Took decent pics on land and acceptable quality underwater pics for the price. Unfortunately, on my 4th dive in Belize, I noticed little bubbles coming out of the case, and that was the end of this camera at less than 25 metres. Using the solar recharger now for my tablet, so it wasn't a total loss. Too bad. I really loved this camera for all 3 days! Maybe for snorkelling or skiing, but definitely not a scubadivers camera.

Stay away!

I bought the camera on sale. This being the only positive point. I bought the double charger, a second battery, the complet accessories package for my daughter, the micro chip. Where do I start. The camera overheats when in the water proof casing and due to this, you lose all contrôle over it and the battery dies in 7 minutes. The batteries doesn' t last more than one hour and 10 minutes. Solar, well it hasn't worked so far in charging the camera. I regret and disappointed for my daugther. Since than, it appears the price was ajusted for a reason. Not one star for this item.

when it sees water it dies

i took it diving in feb after buying it at xmas . battery drains quickly. i took it on 2 dives in a row. it would only last one dive. so I tried to recharge it with the solar panels between dives. i had to take it out of the camera case to do this. it started to charge and when i went to use it the battery was drained. it didn't get that wet. it hasn't worked since, the battery won't retain a charge and it keeps saying there is a sd card error.

5 stars because of the solar panels!

This is a nice camera if you do not need 4K. The solar panels are truly amazing. For a full review of this camera and the solar panels, I invite you to watch my video on YouTube here:

Does Not Work in the Cold

The SolarGuard XG camera is a nice small compact action camera that uses GoPro accessories. However the major flaw is it doesn't work in the cold, at just a few degrees around freezing. The battery lasts for 1-2 min and then it shuts off. This is disappointing for a camera that is built for the outdoors! I tried two cameras and both have the same issue. Returned.

I like it though I wanted a bit better

Have used it for about a month. Bought it on sale for Black Friday for a good price so that skews my review to more positive. What I like: * I like the ability to control Field of View and change it from super wide to narrow if required. This helps you control the amount of distortion prior to post-editing * The app works well and is quick and responsive * The lights on the camera allow you to really quickly determine if it's running or not * The colour of the video and the quality at high quality seems good * I like having 120fps @ 720p to get better slow motion options. That's really nice. What is meh: * In it's case I find you really have to push the button down to the limit to activate the record/function buttons. I worry that this will eventually break the buttons (as has happened with my sjcam but so far so good on that one) * Changing video modes from video loop to time lapse etc requires you to go into a few menus * Touch sensitivity can be pretty spotty at times * The build construction of the camera seems okay though I have now noticed a small taping sound from the screen being ever so slightly lose (this happened on the sjcam and it's been fine for over a year so I'm not worried) * Certainly doesn't come with much compared to other low/mid range action cams (clips, etc) * 240 fps @ 480p but the video is REALLY fuzzy. I didn't expect much but it's not really useable What I dislike: * The charging port is MINI USB (a.k.a. the big one you used to use) I got rid of all those cables and now I am stuck with this ONE when I'm trying to move to USB-C * The battery life is advertised as almost 2 hours, I get that they exaggerate but I have not be able to get past 1 hour even if it is just on recording with screen off. I am really disappointed in that. * If I leave the video mode as 720p @ 60fps my time lapse videos get warped

Zero Tech Support

Bought the Activeon XG solar and a CX and found same problem. All videos longer than 45 seconds get compressed in a way that is unreadable. Activeon has not answered several requests for help over 2 months. Lost my Son's wedding video's. Will someone please start a class action suit for Activeon's bad faith behavior.

So far I have tried a few videos and stills and am pleased with results. I also tried the WiFi with the Android Activeon Hub app and it gives good live view while allowing pics and videos to be taken I did think I had got a dud when I first turned it on with memory card from another camera. It turned on but did not respond to any buttons. I pulled battery and removed memory card and formatted it on a computer before putting it back in camera. Everything worked good after that.

No need for expensive GoPro

I bought this for my last minute trip and just looking for a decent underwater action cam. Great quality of video and image, I love the wifi and remote control capabiltiy through your cellphone. We used this in Atlantis Aquaventrue park and got amazing action videos in the water park.

Best value for your dollar

Do not buy this product, and contacting Activeon support is a nightmare!

This camera freezes after a 20 to 30 minutes of continuous recording, and even worse you end up loosing that video. Once it freezes none of the buttons respond, and the display also freezes. The only way to get the camera back up and working is to remove the battery. Also, when you try calling the Activeon support number you get RCA support, and they in-turn open a service request to Activeon and tell you that Activeon will get back, which hasn't happened yet for over 3 weeks now. My advise to you is don't buy any of their products.
