Almost perfect

Paired with the Skull candy headphones. Almost perfect. There is a blinking light on the transmitter that continuously blinks. Haven't gotten around to put some electrical tape on it to block it out. Also, for some reason, I can't use the headphones when watching Netflix on my Smart tv. The audio just plays the sound from whatever tv station was on before I put the Netflix on. May be user error. If someone out there knows how to correct, let me know.

JUNK - Sound Sinc off when used on TV

I just hooked up this device. Bluetooth connected right away with my Blackweb Wireless Headphones. But the TV sound was about two seconds delayed compared to the video, What is the point of Aluratek saying this device will work with TV, when there is an obvious Sound-Video Sinc problem? Listen to the other bad reviews, and save yourself the bother buying this piece of junk. Now I have to go to the trouble of taking it back. What a waste of time!

Poor quality, dead after two months

Not recommended at all. I bought this around two months ago, and used it with my TV and wireless headphone. The quality was poor from the first day, with a continuous hiss sound in the background whenever I wanted to watch TV. And last week, it stopped working; it doesn't turn on at all, even when connected to the power source. I emailed the support from Aluratek, but never heard back, so even count on the guarantee they have on the package (1 year!).

Easy to use - Works Greeat

First, purchases August 2017 and mine is not as pictured. The only input is a mini usb. Otherwise this works great with my bluetooth speaker. The two paired easily and quickly. Someone commented that it doesn't turn off, but it does if you hold the power button down till it turns off.

Bought in May - dead in July. And apparently BestBuy won't allow me to return it because they don't respond to my email.

Piece of junk

I bought this despite the reviews. I should have listened. I purchased this after I received wireless bluetooth headphones for my tv. I was able to connect this to my headphones twice....that was it. I was going to return it to bestbuy but the packaging was thrown out and receipt says they need all packaging. What a waste of money.

Great Transmitter

I just bought a second hand car. An older model. The car does have an AUX outlet. This little bluetooth audio transmitter works perfectly! Charged the unit up, paired it quite easily with my phone. Voila. Instant music on the go!!! I had first tried an FM THAT was a piece of junk. Only got static. This Aluratek Bluetooth Transmitter provides crystal clear sound.

  • from Saint Catharines, ON

won't disconnect.

Well it does connect, but then never disconnects. I go to my iphone bluetooth settings to disconnect from this and it reconnects automatically. It's frustrating. I have to "forget" the device every time i want to use something else. It also is not all that good of a connection and most definitely does not give much range. Perhaps good in a car but otherwise maybe look elsewhere.

Worst Buy Sells just Another Piece of Junk

Absoluely. Positively. A piece of crap. Doesn't work at all. Store Rep even told me "it might work" and foolishly I ignored his signal and other negative reviews. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING THAT SAYS ALURATEK on it. How and why Worst Buy Marketing and Procurement Management could stock and sell such junk is baffling....I guess that's why they are....Worst Buy!

Not made for canadian winters!

Worked perfectly fine until we were hit with a -26C degree temperature. Something happened inside of it, and now it squeals like an old rat.

  • from Montréal, QC

Very disappointing

Very disappointing, worked very well for about a month then for no reason just stopped working while in use. It does not re-charge and the lights are not turning on anymore....classic case of “Sudden infant death syndrome”. R.I.P.

  • from Coquitlam, BC

Latency/delay means it is of limited use

I bought this so I could watch TV with bluetooth headphones and so I could play guitar through bluetooth headphones. But because of the 1 second delay, that proved to be a problem.

  • from Winnipeg, MB

Terrible. Keeps losing connection.

I decided to try a second one. Worse than the first. I'm 2 feet away listening to a CD and constantly loses signal. It's fully charged and my headset is fully charged. My cheap little blue tooth transmitter that's plugged in to a USB on my computer works great. Doesn't lose signal at all. But I wanted something I could listen through my headphone jack on my receiver as I have music on there that is not on my computer. It works but drops signal every few seconds. Tried reboot many times. This simply will never work. Packing up to return. Looks like Best Buy doesn't have other options.

Not worth it

Bought for Christmas, to be connected to the headset output of my Tv. Pairing is difficult: there is only one button to do all (on/off/pairing) and instructions are ... almost nothing. I connect it to charging by USB - red LED lighting. To start it, just press button, it will flash blue slowly, over the red but this is not pairing - I don't know what it is. You have to stop it now - keep button pressed for 10 sec. Now red light is off. To pair, press and keep button for around 10 sec. first the red will light and shortly, blue-red start flashing rapidly. This is pairing - you have to release the button now (if not, the pairing will stop). In this mode, if headset is in pairing mode, it is possible to pair, if you are lucky. I tried 5 different devices, all is the same - 1 of 10 attempt is pairing. And I had just one Bluetooth device activated at a time (if more, you cannot choose to which one will connect). Even keeping one or another headset at 2 inches from transmitter, sometimes will not pair. After a while (30 sec?) if not paired the transmitter return to slow blue-red-flashing state. If paired, blue LED will start flashing short each ~10 sec. and you can hear the sound in headset. If pairing is not successful, you have to stop transmitter (10 sec), and start all over again. I thought that if paired once, will be enough, but not: after shut-off the headset, one have to re-pair again, (even -of course- the same headset). In these processes (on-pairing-off), one have the chance to block the device : the red led is on, but the button do nothing - is like a computer unresponsive, just here you have no reset button. I have to wait to empty the battery to restart it... eventually. Now, there are 3 days the LED is lighting and the battery is not depleted and 3 days I cannot use the device. The sound: For the TV, connected at standard headphone jack when the sound is full and bass is loud, it will distort the bass (instead the Tv speaker shoot correctly - no distortions). When connected to computer, the same song may be normal if I lower the volume (cannot do that on Tv). So standard output level of my Samsung Tv may be too much for this transmitter. With good headset, you can go 8-10 m around transmitter before start to cut the sound, but of course, in direct sight. Pros: is light, easy to use (nothing to do) after pairing because can be charged and used in the same time, range is as advertised Cons: Difficult to pair, if connection is lost it forget pairing connection (not instantly but after a while), if frozen, have to wait days till battery is empty. Bottom line: too much problems to use it. I will return it, and try anything else.

Great product for the price

We use this mainly on our stereo or in our car, on long road trips and it works as advertised. Sound is great and it easily pairs with a variety of Apple and Android devices. I lost the charging cord soon after purchase and Aluratek replaced it free of charge, without a fuss. No complaints

  • from Winnipeg, MB

Works as it should but lags when watching TV

I have a Roku and Chromecast. No Lag through TV. But alas The Aluratek would be perfect except for the fact there is a slight lag from the TV sound so the lip movement is not in sync. Absolutely perfect for just straight audio. If the company could improve sending the signal at a quicker rate, then 5 stars but until then 3 stars

Aluratek Universal Bluetooth Audio Transmitter

The first one that I purchased worked OK for a few hours. The range was not 33 feet as claimed, maybe 10 feet. When the battery died, I recharged it as instructed. The Aluratek never turned on after the first charge. Returned the first, and received another new device. Waiting to see how this one works out. So far, its taken the first charge and has the same range as the first.

  • from Burlington, ON

Worked as expected

Plugged it into the Bell satellite receiver, and paired it with our new Senheiser HD 4.50 headphones without problems. The sound is great, and everything worked well until we paired the headphones with our iPad. They would not reconnect to the Aluratek unless we went through the initial pairing process again. This is probably really a complaint about the headphones - I'll post a review under that product too. BTW, this is supposed to have a rechargeable battery, and comes with its own USB cable. We "donated" a USB charger plug, and left it permanently connected, so I can't comment on battery life.

  • from North Bay, ON

Range is not as stated on package

I have a small house and set this up hoping to be able to watch TV from my easy chair which is about 9 feet away from the TV. It crapped out at about 6 feet clear line of sight and I have to move my easy chair into the middle of the living room to be able to use it. I will be taking it back after this long weekend. You get what you pay for I guess. This device is no where near the 33' range as stated on the package

Aluratek Universal Bluetooth Audio Transmitter (ABT01F)

No Stars, the one I got was a piece of garbage wanted it to use mp3 player with motorcycle helmet, worked great for first 10 feet and died. other units may be good but not taking any more chances bought an ipod. site made me give it 1 star but not deserved

  • from Markham, ON

The charger cord doesn't even plug in properly, cheap plastic, and doesn't pair at all, after numerous attempts. Don't bother buying this!

  • from Windsor, ON

Bad product from the beginning...

I didn't find the product in the store, so the customer service ordered it on Best Buy site. After 3 days I received it. It was not possible to charge the product, trying this in 3 consecutive days. I returned it for money back. I don't recommend to buy this .....

  • from Concord, ON

Love it BUT...

Stopped working after 10 hours or so. Was great while it lasted. I can't get satisfaction from Aluratek on replacing. The don't answer e-mails.

  • from Concord, ON

Love this product. The very slight delay in audio did not bother me at all. TURN OFF the TV volume: BUT unfortunately it died after little use in 6 months. Never was able to charge the device. Sent it back in May for replacement (Manufacturer's one-year warranty). We'll see...

  • from Amaranth

works just as described

it is doing just what we wanted. plugged it into my receiver headphone jack and it does a great job of transmitting to my bluetooth headphones. Great for watching TV.

I made a bad mistake throwing out the receipt for this a day or so after having bought it. Did the "3 hour charge", tested it for a bit, seemed to power up, etc, then I turned it off and left it beside my little bookshelf stereo for the last 3 days. Now it doesn't work at all. Doesn't power on. Won't draw power from my computer with its included USB cable now, so it can't be charged. But because it worked for a little bit, I assumed it was functional and threw out my receipt... I made a terrible decision buying this. I got about 20 minutes use out of it and spent the price you see above... was it worth it? LOL. NO. The hilarious part is I have to give it at least 1 star, when it isn't worth anything at all - except the laughter they'll have at your expense for buying this useless plastic thing with wires that come out. Junk. Like most cheap electronics made in a certain overseas country these days. Just more garbage for the landfill.

I needed something to allow me to listen to my music from my laptop through my Bluetooth speaked. This does the job for a reasonable price

Will be returning this item

I am not having much luck getting this item to work. I will be returning it to Best Buy

  • from Guelph, ON

do not buy

Sound quality is really bad, the volume is really low, noticeable delay. This was hooked up to my t.v and beats studio headphones. I would not recommend.

  • from Mississauga

Lag kills it for me

There is a noticeable lag in transmission. My goal was to hook it up to the output of a mixer and play an instrument plus an audio track simultaneously, and listen on my bt headphones. It worked technically... but what a drag to finally get it set up, then play a note and hear nothing for about 200ms... Impossible to play this way. Dissapointing end. Hopefully another xmiter is out there with no lag. Give 2 * since it works, but still sucks

  • from Whitby, ON

To clarify, WHITE MODEL: transmitter. Ex: To send audio from tv to Bluetooth headphones. BLACK MODEL: receiver. Ex: To play your phone music and have the audio come out from a non Bluetooth speaker or home audio setup.

  • from Halifax, NS

Worked great for a few months

Worked great for the first few months. Then it just stopped working. I tried to charge it and it will not get any power. Cheap quality.

  • from Montreal, QC

Very bad product

Better stay away from this product, and save your money. The construction is flimsy and there is an important lag between the source and the headphones. Furthermore, mine stopped working after two weeks, which was a blessing in disguise because I got a much better product.

Aluratek Universal Bluetooth Audio Transmitter (ABT01F) - White

I have tried two of these kinds of transmitters on my TV to stream audio to my Bluetooth ear buds.. didn't work

  • from Vancouver, BC

LOSE the cords on the airplane!

Purchased this to compliment Bose Quiet Control 30 earbuds for travelling. We fly a fair amount and have been frustrated with the need to have headphones that can accept 3.5mm input. Seriously limited choices for quality headphones. But this adaptor has opened that shortfall. Linked first time no problem. Only drawback was a slight delay when watching videos. Keep in mind..... DON'T FORGET to take it with you when you leave the plane!!

  • from London, ON

Easy to use but very short range

I bought this for my parents. They live in a retirement apartment, and enjoy using a small portable stereo to listen to the radio and their collection of CDs. Mom wanted to be able to hear her music in the bedroom, which is about 15 feet from the stereo and separated by 1 wall. On the plus side, this device is extremely easy to use. I paired it to a Bose Soundlink II portable speaker. The pairing required pressing 2 buttons and took all of 10 seconds...NICE! But unfortunately, the range is very limited. I believe it's advertised as having a range up to 10 meters (30 feet), but it barely made it to 10 feet (and separated by 1 wall ) before the signal dropped. It was nice that the speaker paired back up to the transmitter as soon as I walked back to it. So, very easy to use...very short range.

  • from Unknown

Excellent product - does exactly what it was designed to do.

Great performance. Gets better range then those cheaper ones. Getting it to initially connect to the Bluetooth device was slightly challenging at first because it was having some type of reorganization issue, but one it connect it worked like a charm. It did exactly what I intended to use it for. Once you figure out how to pair it, and how it works - overall it's a great product with no sound drop (within range).

  • from Toronto, ON

Limited range

This unit has a very limited range 12 to 14 feet. Difficult to stay connected. Unit ok but there must be a better product available.

  • from Chilliwack, BC

Great for a while.

Seemed to do everything I needed. Great that it can be charged and used at the same time. Worked well for about 6 months. Bought it in May. Died in November. Obviously not a good build.

  • from Ottawa, On

Works great!

Works very well with Bluetooth headphones. Great for plugging into aircraft entertainment source and stream to your Bluetooth headphones. I see other reviews on here and I don't think people realize that THIS product is a TRANSMITTER, not a receiver. Use this product to stream from a source (unit that does not have Bluetooth) TO Bluetooth speakers or headphones. Use the Aluratek BT RECEIVER to stream from your Bluetooth device (phone, iPod, etc) to what this unit is connected to (non Bluetooth device). Hope this helps in your purchase.

  • from Calgary, AB

Not the performance I had hoped for!

This unit is very disappointing. Tried to pair with brand new iPod, would pair for about one second and then drop the link. Tried repeatedly, thinking I was doing something wrong to no avail. Highly frustrating, thought I had an answer to my need for Bluetooth connectivity to my sound dock. I would not recommend wasting your money on this piece of junk.

  • from Toronto, ON

Worked only the first day, not getting connected since then

Followed the instructions on user manual, connected in less than 10 secs. Bingo !!! The sound was also great, not leggy. It was a great listening experience. I was so happy with the purchase. Second day put the device on charge, once fully charged, reconnected it with TV and no sound, tried establishing a connection with the head phones but no luck. The device has all the vital signs but Its been three days i am trying to get it connected but no luck at all. So i will give it 1 star.

Bluetooth transmitter

Just following up unit works well with my tv sending to samsung bluetoorh speaker. Though im hooked into the shaw arris bix not the tv since my tv doesnt have rca out... No delay n no drops. I also connected my iphone easy peazy. Yes its cheap n flimsy so be careful with it.

  • from Langley

Bluetooth transmitter

Hooked it up to my arris shaw box to send to my samsung bluetooth speaker in my bedroom and works well. No problems whatsoever. Connects easily no skips... Only problem is my tv doesnt have rcas out only optical so i can send the cable signal from the arris box but cant use it when im watching Netflix If u bought a transmitter n reciever u could turn ur old ipod docks into bluetooth speakers.

Waste of Money

I bought this for a stereo to make it bluetooth and it doesnt even reach 5 ft away without it skipping/ loosing signal when playing songs idk why i wasted my money on it, it a peace of Junk!!

  • from St. John's, NL

Does exactly what I wanted without issue: TV to wireless headphones

In contrast to several reviews, I have had no difficulty using this unit to transmit sound from my tv to wireless headphones. Instant bluetooth pairing/connection with my headphones (I simply followed the directions provided with this unit), and no sound delay (which seems to have been a problem for other users). Perhaps the issues encountered by other users stems from the type of headphones used? I am using an LG flatscreen tv (~5 years old) and earbud-style wireless Jaybird X2 headphones. I even use an audio jack splitter connected to the headphone jack of the tv, with one Aluratek transmitter on each split, and my headphones paired with one transmitter and my husband's paired to the other transmitter (both same type of headphones), so we can both watch/listen to the tv at the same time. Two things about this transmitter: 1) there's a big sticker right on the box that states "Does not work with smartphones" (to clarify, you can use this transmitter to transmit music FROM your smartphone TO your headphones, but not the other way around); 2) the instructions state that your headphones MUST operate on the A2DP bluetooth profile. Best check out your headphone's bluetooth profile(s) before purchasing this product.

  • from Toronto, ON

Not suitable for smartphones or TV

It does not work with smartphones, I've tried with IOS and success. Not good for TV, since it has a small delay so the lips are not sync at all. For TV purposes I recommend RF Headphones, which are perfect for that use.

  • from St. John's, NL

Use with TV

As per a previous review this unit lags behind the audio of your television. Not suitable for this use.

  • from Toronto

Not for use with TV

I can't quite fathom how another reviewer recommended this for TV but not for music. My experience is exactly opposite. It has fine sound quality, good range, good battery life, but it lags badly when used with my TV. I wanted this item to feed some Bluetooth speakers to improve on my TV's built-in speaker volume and clarity - sort of a half-assed surround sound. It works, but it's like watching one of those 70's kung-fu movies - the picture and the audio are out of sync. There's about a 1-sec lag. If you used this only to stream music, you'd never know anything was wrong, but for a video source? Forget it.

  • from Longueuil, QC

works fine but the sound is low

It works fine with my old Sony mini radio, tape and disc system with Sony headphone bluetooth. Even the sound is low, it does the job considering its price. I am happy that it performs well.
