  • usual horrible connectivity and stability

from arlo hell on October 3, 2019

i've had a couple thousand dollars of arlo products for years now and constantly have problems with their connectivity and turning them on and off in the app. Was really hoping the new app solved this but just as bad. Just tried adding a doorbell, two chimes and four security lights. Couldn't get the chimes to work or doorbell to work properly after another four hours of my time wasted on arlo products. The hardware seems good but they need to redevelop or license new connectivity hardware and software. I wish i hadn't spent money on arlo products already as i'm sure there are better options. I'm very technically oriented and familiar with connectivity as i love gadgets and have many and work in the tech industry. beware this product

  • Door Bell

I was looking for a door Bell replacement and read some reviews on this. Since my place does not have an existing door Bell, I also purchased the plug in door chime as well. Keep in mind, you will need the Arlo base, if you want to have a 2 way communication with the door Bell while away. The instructions was almost a bit vague on this.. Anyways, I brought the base too because there maybe a camera combo that I wanted down the line. It is cool, that if your not home you can answer, via the door bell or it actually let's the visitor leave a voicemail. This can be done thru the app.

  • Arlo doorbell does not work with existing doorbell chimes
    by

I have a 4-camera Arlo Pro 2 system, so thought the Arlo doorbell would be a good addition to the system. Unfortunately, after the install, I discovered that the Arlo system does not work with an existing doorbell chime. The instructions indicate that the Arlo doorbell is compatible with both digital and electro-mechanical chimes using a setting on the Arlo unit to indicate which one you have in place. After installing the Arlo doorbell and updating firmware to the latest level, it triggered the existing chime to sound continuously regardless of the setting used. Based on other comments on the Arlo support and community site, this is a common problem with the Arlo doorbell. Apparently, the resolution is to acquire the Arlo chime as well - which shouldn't be necessary. Not me...I'm returning the Arlo doorbell. Maybe a future release will correct the problem.
