Bought this a few months ago

Its been awesome can defs turn up the hz as well got it running great for 1440p gaming and set it up movies as well. great purchase and on sale was a bonus

31.5" and 2560 x 1440 - Perfect!

I went from a 27" monitor to this one. Some say 31.5" is too big for desk-top viewing - I disagree. My primary use is photo editing. Software icons are the right size, the resolution works great, what more is there to say? I'd buy another one!

Excellent Value For The Price If Bought On Sale

I have two of these monitors, purchased on sale. At non-sale prices I'd say that it's almost completely worth it. My only complaint is that the monitor's connection options is slightly less than perfect. You get one HDMI, one Display Port, and one 15 pin D-sub VGA connection. I would have preferred the VGA connection be a DVI connector for more varied connection options.

  • from Guelph, ON

Good, but slows down computer

Really enjoy this monitor. I set the display scaling to 125% so that things are't too small and the image quality is still very good even with it bumped up to 125%. I don't think that a regular HD panel would look very good scaled to 125%, so this is where the QHD really is nice to have. The one thing I will say though is that the quality of this monitor is a strain on the laptop I hook it up to. It doesn't have dedicated graphics though and the laptop is about 4 years old. I was able to connect it with the HDMI that came in the box and get the full QHD resolution. It took a lot of work to get intel graphics control panel to display the max resolution though so that's annoying.

great monitor

got two of these for work and they're fantastic. nice and matte, no glare. great color and picture.

  • from Dartmouth, NS

Incredible monitor

Incredible monitor, I've purchased 3 now for home and work. Anyone who says its pixelated just doesn't have it on the right settings. Incredibly clear, eye popping colors.

  • from Richmond, BC

need to give this monitor 6 stars

I had used more than 5 monitors including a Samsung 4K 28' ones before. This one is by far the best. Not only it supports VGA, DisplayPort and HDMI, it also includes all cables. I use it as my main monitor to connect to servers and I can't easily tune my servers fonts to 150% so 4K monitors is not an option for me. This one's WQHD(2560x1440) is perfect for ths size. The text is sharp and screen is very vivid and bright The speaker is also great. Overall a really easy recommendation for anyone wants to use it for work

  • from Ottawa, ON

Great for the price

I returned a 4K Samsung to get this, because I was wasting resolution. Windows would have to zoom to 150%, but with this the resolution to size made it perfect for picture, video and audio editing. I can see everything easily and vividly. The colour and picture quality is amazing.

  • from Edmonton, AB

Great Monitor but just wished it had more to offer for the price

This monitor is great if you need a relatively cheap 32 inch monitor. I do wish it would be 4K but the 1440p resolutution still gives crisp images and doesn't look bad. I bought 2 of the monitors and unfortunately one of them became defective after the 30 day return policy so I would recommend purchasing the protection incase if this does happen to you. But it is a good buy and would recommend when it goes on sale.

  • from Vancouver, BC

Disappointing - even at the sale price, and not a good value.

Just bought 2 of these today but will return them tomorrow. At the (sale) price I was willing to live with the very basic design (stand has only limited tilt and no other adjustments at all, lower than average max brightness, low refresh rate, no DVI input, no USB inputs, etc.). The monitors are not defective, they just use a really low quality panel and backlight. The actual usable viewing angle is really very small. When facing the monitor dead center at a viewing distance of 30 inches (further away than most desks will allow), you're seeing the sides and corners at an angle of less than 60 degrees: they are about 3 times darker than the center (measured with a high quality light meter), and have a disturbing silvery tinge to them. This is independent of any possible picture adjustments. The dynamic range is also really poor: shadows and dim scene areas show almost no detail - again, no available adjustments help very much. So, adding up lack of available adjustments to improve picture quality, in-your-face brightness falloff and colour shift from center to edges, poor dynamic range, and a strange greyish cast to whites, I personally wouldn't use these even if they were a gift. I'm sure they would be fine for the undiscriminating who just watch movies, play games, or noodle around on the internet, but you'd probably get tired of them pretty quickly. Zero stars for my needs; 2 stars because they might suit the easy to please.

Love this monitor

This monitor is pretty impressive. Awesome games graphic at 1440P. As always great product from ASUS.

  • from Dartmouth, NS

Great monitor for the price

I've purchased 3 of these are different times - amazing monitors, great color accuracy.

  • from London, ON

I have bought the monitor for a year without warranty, I have all the issues coming from reviews, there are clicking noise inside monitor which is very horrible when you use, the monitor color is always wired no matter how you calibrate it. Refresh rate is 60hz which is okay however lots of ghosting image. The noise is biggest concern for me, I am afraid someday it will explode, other than these, all is good

  • from Scarborough, ON

Zero Stars

Half the screen is pixelated. DONT BUY

  • from North Vancouver, BC

Pixelation at 2560x1440 is horrendous. Solid colors like the menu bar background are heavily pixelated.

  • from calgary, ab

This monitor does support WQHD on HDMI

This monitor does support WQHD on HDMI. I don't what the previous reviewer is talking about. It is HOT buy when on sale. I have been using it absolutely love it. Mine also overclocks to 73hz with display port. With the HDMI it is locked at 60hz.

  • from Toronto, ON

this is a QHD monitor and it has only one input which is Display port that supports qhd. The other 2 ports VGA and HDMI do not support QHD so ASUS are you dumb? I can not use two qhd device rather I always have to unplug one to use the other. Think big. If there were 3 input like 1 dvi-d, 1 display port and 1 mini display then I would genuinely give 4 star. Not 5 cause it is terrible on Gaming.

  • from New Westminster, BC

Fantastic monitor

I have bought 9 of for 3x triple systems setup. Been using them for almost a year now and all looks great using GTX1080 mounted vesa stand. Would love to show images of these setup and usage, but cant post links. Have not got any horizontal lines and pop noise are people talking about, seems those reviews are only here that you see happening and no where else.

  • from Etobicoke, ON

2 horizontal lines at the bottom the screen

Stay away from this monitor, i used it for 3 months, and this happened. im very disappointed and sad that i wasted money on this monitor. Reliability is a serious issue with this monitor.

  • from Surrey, BC

Good but not amazing

Pros: 31.5" monitor, 1440p resolution, when on sale represents between above average to very good value, colours are good, comes with a nice glass stand & every connector you need, bezels are thin, actual aesthetics of the monitor are nice, max brightness level is good. Cons: This monitor is advertised as "LED" and "IPS", but I wonder if it really is. Viewing angles are no better than my previous 27" LCD monitor. I bought two of these monitors for work purposes, so I don't view any one monitor from head-on -- and I can notice the viewing angles a bit. That isn't to say the screen is bad, but that's why I think it's a good deal on sale, but not worth considering when not on sale. Only other thing I can think of is that the buttons on the screen are lower quality than everything else.

  • from Vancouver, BC

Do not buy this monitor

Had the monitor for about two weeks and now it has horizontal line and coloured lines across it. I know it's the monitor because I took a screenshot, and the screenshot does not contain the lines. Not worth your time or money!

  • from Toronto, ON

Love it

I was looking for a new large monitor for a while now to replace my two 21" monitors. Found this one on sale, read the reviews and everything was positive except the few reviews from BC about the monitor dying after a couple of months. Given the price I decided to buy it even if it lasts only one year. I picked up this monitor two weeks ago and it's been great so far. It comes with an HDMI, VGA cables, solid glass base to hold the monitor. Overall I'm very pleased with it.

  • from Toronto, ON

"A"mazing monitor

Beautiful looking LARGE monitor Clarity is excellent, no calibration required, picture/video/text perfect right out of the box Set up very easy, a matter of minutes Stand is super, solid firm/steady - no wobble whatsoever The WQ in model name indicates super clarity I have a 27" monitor and this size makes a HUGE difference - I LOVE it!! Highly recommend

  • from Surrey, BC

try your luck

one day, you will hear this POP sound and your monitor will rest in peace. now i have my 2nd thought about the brand ASUS

  • from Thornhill, ON

good buy

love this monitor, buy when on sale

  • from Victoria, BC

Awesome Monitor

Have had this monitor for a year and it gets a work out everyday. Will buy two more to replace my 24 inch monitors when this monitor goes on sale for a decent price.

  • from Mississauga

Image is OK, reliability is poor.

Before the purchase, I already read online reviews and know its quality seems not too good. I bought it anyway to try my luck. Today it's just over 30 days. It's showing many horizontal lines on the bottom, and a few lines on the top. I wish I could return it instead of send it to service to ASUS.

  • from Waterloo

Dead Pixel

The image quality on it is fine, but it already has a dead pixel after only 6 months with it.

  • from BC

4 months after owning this monitor, heard a POP. Just like that, monitor is dead. It was great while it lasted. There's absolutely no reflection or glare. In a day lit, bright room, the sun could shine, and I could see perfect. But alas, now it is done. I don't think I'll buy another one.

  • from Duncan, BC

Decent monitor while it lasted.

Had this monitor for five months and during that time it was a decent monitor. One day while watching youtube the monitor died. The issue seems to be with either the power supply board in the monitor or the capacitors. This happening after five months of light use? Not impressed!

  • from Richmond Hill, ON

Great Value

To get this size of an IPS display for the price of 27 inch monitors is incredible. Pros No dead pixels NO IPS glow hardly any backlight bleed and good overall uniformity 1440p Cons You have to calibrate the monitor to get it to your liking as it does not look good out of the box. No height adjustment but there are holes for a VESA mount if you want to hang this. Make sure that Vivid Pixel is turned to 0 and Trace Free is at 0. If these settings are turned on the monitor can look blurry and choppy. I have the monitor on the standard mode picture mode at 75% brightness and blue light level 3.

  • from Cambridge, ON

Excellent monitor - very pleased

Been using my new VA32AQ for two weeks now and I am very pleased with this purchase. My primary needs were large amount of screen space (2560x1440 resolution) so I could replace two older dual monitors with a single larger new one, and I wanted the Eye Care feature. The high resolution worked immediately out of the box over HDMI cable connection. And I immediately turned down the blue light for eye care; I don't even notice the less white background now and feel good that less damaging blue light is reaching my eyes. The clarity of text on the screen is outstanding even with a low end video card (Asus GEFORCE GT 710). The base and stand of the monitor are sturdy, and the whole things looks classy and high quality. I love the experience and I feel I got excellent value.

  • from Ottawa, ON

Great value for productivity booster

Pros: price, size, quality, thin bezel. I was planning to get a 27", but very glad I went up the extra notch. 27" doesn't really allow side-by-side multi-tasking, wheres this does. Cons: had to configure some stuff. Needed to update laptops graphics driver to take advantage of 2K. The Intel Graphics Control Panel wasn't showing any option above 1080p for screen resolution prior to updating the driver. Other: - speakers are decent quality and an upgrade from my laptop, but still wouldn't use to enjoy music. - Glass base feels high quality and the monitor feels solid on the desk, rather than wobbly - tilt adjust is good, but lacks vertical shift. However I planned on getting a stand to raise it anyways. -32" screen is great for productivity. I can comfortably run browser and MS Word side by side for research, or go fulls screen on Excel and see a vast number of cells. I don't do any gaming, so I'm not missing out on higher refresh rate, and don't watch much video on it, so colours aren't a big deal for me.

  • from BC

Great overall

Love this screen, now that I found one that works! I guess buyers beware on this one, because the first one I bought didn't power on. I tried it on another power outlet, and still nothing. My computer works perfectly fine, so it wasn't anything to do with my computer. I returned it for a new one, never opened, factory sealed...opened the new box optimistically and to my surprise, there was NO BASE to set it up on! I was quite shocked. So I returned it for a THIRD try. Third times a charm I guess, because it works great! The only thing I didn't like about it at first, was the screen tearing that was happening on youtube videos and simple scrolling up and down. I figured I just needed to update my graphics driver. Did that, and voila, it's beautiful. I love the zero glare/reflection, and the WQHD is a really nice choice for me right now. If I were a gamer, I'd probably not choose it based on the 5ms, but for average computer use, 5ms is fine. I wouldn't mind it to be a little faster, but it is what it is. One day I'll graduate to 4k, but for the time being, I'm happy with this one!

  • from Vancouver, BC

Late 2016 13" MacBook without TouchBar

Turn off VividPixel mode and the image will look SO MUCH BETTER. This monitor is worth a try. I just setup the monitor and I'm so glad that I read the reviews mentioning to turn off VividPixel mode, it drastically improved the resolution. I am currently connected to the monitor through a the HDMI cable that was in the box and a J5Create USB Type-C to 4K HDMI adapter. Make sure your HDMI adapter/cable can support 4k, as BestBuy was selling 1080p HDMI adapters and it's easy to get pick one up that isn't 4k. Enjoy it if you choose to buy it.

  • from Montréal, QC

Better than what I expected from online reviews

Yes it does need some changes in the settings out of the box. But when settled, it looks crisp and beautiful. Got it off on boxing day with a pretty good deal and its totally worth it!

  • from Scarborough, ON

Great monitor for the price

This is a great monitor for the price. It will not compare to Dell's UltraSharp monitors but its still great. Turn off vivid pixel as soon as you get the monitor...that 'feature' makes all the text blurry. It was so annoying that I almost returned the product. I wish the stand was more robust (no height adjustments).

  • from Red Deer

Great monitor for the price

I got this monitor as a boxing day special. I was using a 24" SAMSUNG S24A850DW. I have to say the amount of screen is a big difference. Really great for spread sheets and AutoCad. I have a computer desk that has a shelf that splits the desk area into 2 halves and the opening is too small for the monitor. Thus the monitor is too close. I will have to modify it fit. You might want to bear this in mind when upgrading to a lager monitor.

  • from Toronto, ON

Great Monitor

The monitor came earlier than scheduled. Easy to set up, crisp picture, extremely well responds with pc. Very satisfied!

  • from St. Albert, AB

Bought two for multiple displays; using high end Dell computer, displays are vibrant and crisp ... pleased so far!

  • from Vaudreuil, QC

Great but needs to change out of the box settings

At first I was a little disappointed with the fine details (looking pixelized) but as suggested in another review, turning off vivid pixel greatly enhanced the details and now it's crystal sharp. I was looking for a 27" monitor but I'm glad I opt for this 32" model.

  • from repentigny

it's bad for gamming

this monitor is very bad for cs:go it don't respond fast and it's too big to concentrate on all the screen.

  • from Winnipeg, MB

Beautiful display

Rich colours and nice detail. Had trouble at first getting above 1080p resolution, but once I acquired the right adapter there was no problem. And the problem was with my GPU rather than the monitor.

  • from Mississauga

Ordered 2 on boxing day sale and are great now I have to up grade my video card to use the higher resolutions love these monitors

  • from langley

Great monitor but... requires you change a few settings

right out of the box, this monitor will look bad. text may be fuzzy and horrible ghosting. this can be all fixed by turning off vividpixel mode off and trace free off. after that, you're golden. if you get this on sale then its differently worth it.

  • from Markham, ON

Excellet 2k Monitor and a bargain when on sale!

I was using my 24" 1920x1080 Pro Dell for the last 7 years and still good but wanted something bigger. At the beginning I was afraid the text will be too small when using the native resolution of 2560x1440 at 60hz with display-port and it was just right. For sure if I went for the 4k even at 32" will be too small and hard to read. Perhaps 4k at 40"+ will be more ideal. It does not have the premium of height adjustment but a few stand or books will do. I didn't expect great response time at 5ms but all the games from Steam that I own did pretty good; no complaint. Got it during the boxing week and was a bargain. I paid more for my 24" and I find this Asus VA32AQ a luxury upgrade and it comes with 3 years of warranty. No dead pixels just minor ghosting out of the box. After a few on screen adjustment, perfect since.

  • from Scarborough, ON

Not bright enough

Bought this on sale during the boxing week event but had to return this monitor because it simply wasn't bright enough during any dark or night scenes in most video games I tested (even at the highest brightness settings) . I had to really struggle to see anything after dark or in the caves in Far Cry Primal and after comparing with my Samsung monitor, this one just wasn't able to produce enough back light or brightness for most gaming scenarios that I tested. White screens in browser also looked more of a light grey than white. I really wanted to keep this monitor as I loved the size and resolution gain coming from a 27" 1080p Samsung monitor but I ended up buying a higher end Asus PB328Q (substantially more money) as the brightness issue just kept bugging me every time I loaded up a game. This is probably a great monitor for the price (if on sale) if you you don't have any high contrast / bright color requirements and just want to upgrade to a larger resolution monitor for day to day activities. The desktop real estate gain going from 1080p to 1440 is substantial.

  • from Burnaby, BC

Great Monitor for the Price

This monitor isn't perfect but you really can't beat this monitor for the boxing day sale price. Colours are accurate, a little bit of back light bleed in the bottom corners but nothing that would make me pass up this monitor... especially for the boxing day sale price. Very happy with this purchase.

  • from Waterloo, ON

Really nice monitor

I like the size of the monitor. You could have two browsers side by side. Pros: Good color production. Great angle of view Cons: Full resolution (1440p) is only supported from display port. No DVI input. Yes, I will recommend this to a friend.

  • from Brampton, ON

Great monitor for your home office

Before you get this monitor, CHECK then DOUBLE CHECK if the machine you are using can drive 1440P, most laptops CANNOT drive 1440P. You will need to get a displaylink dock to drive this at full resolution. (For those of you who thinks it's okay to drive 32 inch at 1080P, turn your 1080 TV to 720 and test it there. Remember this is pretty much much 2-3ft away from your eyes) I use this monitor for my home office and use it for work. If you are a gamer, this may not be for you since it's a IPS panel. PROs: Size Color VESA mountable Multi-port connection in the back Speakers built in USB Power under the monitor to charge your phone/tablet/whatever CONs: When the monitor turns on/off after being off for a long period of time, you may experience a mild clicking noise for a couple of seconds. This model does this so it's not anything to worry about. The click is almost silent but you will hear if you listen closely.
