Great laptop

Just bought this laptop yesterday and are using this laptop to write this review. Spend few moments to set up the laptop. Afterward, I started to download games as LOL, CSGO...etc. This laptop can do more than enough for daily uses, such as Youtube, Gmail,Microsoft Office...etc. As for gaming, the i5-7300 are def enough for gaming plus the provided 12G RAM made gaming smooth as the silk. GTX 1050 are already great for high-end gaming setting with great video affects. Personal experience on this laptop so far is excellent, everything runs as expected and smoothly. Tested out when opening multiple games simultaneously, which has no laggy affect on current gaming. Overall, this laptop is excellent with all the spec it has especially with this price.

Poor display

Can't comment on performance. I returned this immediately when I saw how awful the display was. Worst viewing angles I have ever seen.

effin sick rig!

This laptop craves the games! forza horizon 3 on max, pubg on max, destiny 2 on max, never drops below 35 frames in crazy conditions, and loves to stay at 60 everywhere else :P screen is legit, non gloss for that perfect look, has some sick speakers in it in comparison to other laptop speakers, is fairly light weight for the specs and has some prime pin striping so it looks good at the same time. just had to swap the hard drive, and any concerns evaporated :P time to spoil yourself!

One of the best mid-range gaming laptop

All the critical reviews that you see here are based on the hardware this laptop comes with. I bought this laptop on sale and used that saved money to buy an SSD. You also do yourself a favor and buy an SSD then clone the OS to that SSD. New 120 GB SSD should not cost more than 100 dollars. SSD makes a massive difference on performance. The best thing about this laptop is that it comes with an M.2 slot for SSDs so that you do not have to lose the 1 TB of storage you already have on this laptop. GTX 1050 is not one of the best graphic cards but still can play high end games at medium to high settings, easily. The screen is 60 Hz which is also one of the best features of this laptop. My 2015 Alienware had only 30 Hz screen. Switching to this laptop makes me realize the importance of 60 Hz screens. Would definitely recommend this laptop to others, if they are willing to spend some extra money to buy an SSD.

i bought this computer 2 days ago and right away it was slow and glitchy. i didnt even try loading any kinda of software on it or try out its gaming ability. just trying to bring up the web browser it froze for a few min. booting up takes for ever... not what i was expecting considering my super basic 4 year old desktop that i bought for half the price runs way better! how ever the the body of the computer is pretty cool and the screen is decent

Great PC

This computer was to my satisfaction for its price, but I would recommend getting an SSD card, just because the HDD really slows it down. Within 2 months of me having this computer, it had a storage problem, so that was not the worst part to fix, but make sure to shut down your computer whenever you are going to move it to a different place. The PC is to my satisfaction with the Intel Core and it's graphics card, though I would go for a 1060 or 1070 if your budget can meet those needs. All in all, This PC is a great budget computer for portable, lightweight gaming.

If you like battery life DO NOT get this computer

Got this computer and at first i loved it, got great battery life and played games smoothly. Now maybe 4 months later i only get an hour and a half out of it before it needs to be plugged in, and this is while only on google and youtube, not games running at all. Sent to asus to fix and they did nothing, battery still sucks.

The computer itself is easy to carry around to places. The performance of this laptop is out of this world for its price, it runs popular game so easily on medium to high quality on 1080p. I recommend people to get this if they are on a budget and still wants to play a lot of game. 2 bad things to me is that the power button is with the keyboard and I personally like it separately. The other bad thing is that I would people to put a 256-500g sad into the computer.

HDD is the bottleneck

This little machine has excellent spec but is held back by its really bad HDD. Everything feels sluggish when using the HDD and within the first two weeks of having this laptop I had 5 lock ups where the HDD just choked and died. Fortunately there is an m.2 slot that is easy to access and you can upgrade with an SSD, once I did that this machine flew.

screen not that good

Have had the laptop for a month now. It's not a bad laptop, but I do wish the screen was better. Colors seem washed out.

Gaming lap top

Overall a good lap top, we purchased this one to play a large multiplayer game and it can handle everything. It does get hot so venting is important. Easy to set up. 4 stars

Slow as Molasses

It was extremely slow and any program I opened would crash. The disk drive was frequently at 100% usage as well. Avoid this laptop at all costs.

Awesome product

I used the laptop for days now. I bought the laptop because it possessed very good technical specs for its price. You will not be disappointed. J'avais utilisé l'ordinateur pour une semaine. J'ai acheté l'ordi parce que je suis très impressionnant par les choses technique.

Optimistic Review

I bought this laptop for business, gaming, and GoPro editing. So far so good! Start up time is great. I play 1080p 60fps video easily. The sound is quite good for a laptop. It's got a nice design and sturdy frame. I will likely upgrade the SSD hard drive. I've had Asus before and would recommend over HP any day. If you have any doubts I'd say go in to Best Buy and try it out. It's a great laptop.

Ok performance, poor screen and slow hard drive.

I got this Laptop for my wife as a gift. I spent a few days with it setting it up and found that while the graphics performance is what you would expect from a GTX1050, the laptop disappointed in other ways. First the boot time, and load times are abysmal. I was really disappointed with this aspect of the laptop. My wife's six year old laptop boots faster than this. Granted I long ago upgraded her hard drive to an SSD, but this was still far too slow. Thankfully the laptop has a slot for an M.2 drive and that corrected the problem. Now the laptop boots cold in about 8 seconds to the log in window. Do yourself a favor if you can get a similar model with an SSD do it. Updating this laptop yourself to use an M.2 boot drive is not for the average PC user. The second disappointment was the screen. The viewing angle is a joke. It feels like this thing has a 20 degree viewing angle either up and down or side to side. Second there are no blacks to speak of. The darkest of black is more of a medium gray! Unless you are viewing from the 5 degree sweet spot. If like my wife you will often be using this with an attached monitor then this is less of an issue. The thing does not have an optical drive, but it has the bay for one. Really ASUS you could not put a cheap DVD drive in the thing! Over all this is a swing and a miss for ASUS. I have a lot of ASUS Strix ROG products and this is the first that disappoints. If I had to do it all again I would have gotten a model with an M.2 SSD pre-installed at the very least. A good 250 GB SSD is not too expensive and the install will take you about half a day, unless you have done it before. Given what you do get with this laptop it is reasonably inexpensive if you can overlook the mediocre screen and glacial boot / load times.

Best laptop I have owned

I have owned multiple laptops. This one has performed better than most desktop PCs I have owned. Played 3 hours of Battlefield 4 on it no freezing, lag or overheating. Looks great and has a really comfortable keypad.

Extremely good laptop

This laptop is excellent. Can run just about any game you throw at it (within limits obviously). Don't use it on your lap or you will get burned. The 1TB hard drive is slow, because it's 5600rpm, but if you clone it to an SSD, you'll be golden. If you're doing something other than gaming, spend a few hundred extra for an i7.

returned twice

Buyer beware. The first one kept turning off and wouldn't turn back on again. The second one was doing the same, thought it might be user error and/or overheating because I was using it on my lap. Bought an cooling pad with fan - played GTAV for 2 hours, no problem. Browsed on internet and tried to comment on a text post - shut down 5 times. Returned it for a Dell, which while not advertised as a "gaming computer" is doing the job so much better. Not even at half the heat.

The Asus who loved me

After turning down the dell 7000 series the one that comes in fire engine red and black with the 1050 graphics card and the non illuminated keyboard and the horrible , horrible 😈screen and crappy customer service, I took back the computer laptop brick and the best buy customer service took it back with a smile in exchange and a few hundred dollars more for the Asus fx53....Wow ! What a spectacular computer with 12gbs of memory, fast cpu and great screen with a beautiful red keyboard illuminated display that looks like the bridge controls on the enterprise I couldn't wait to see what this baby can do...I first did the real test, I loaded up battlefield 1 and to my surprise it loaded up with max settings and the game was smooth no hiccups at all I was astonished after 30 minutes of game play that the bottom of the computer was cool !!!!! ???? I couldn't believe it!!! This Asus rocks and I recommend to spend the extra dollars and grab it... However if your a spolied so called princess like me swap the 1 terabyte hard drive for a decently priced ssd drive, and only then you will have perfection 😁
