WiFi Problems and very minimal capabilities

Wifi problems ever since i got it. Was forced to manually reinstall the wireless WLAN driver many times when the wifi would crash AT RANDOM. Speed was also very poor, even though it claimed to work on i7 and 8GB of RAM (yeah right). Now the screen has given up on working and I am finally upgrading to a laptop that actually WORKS. Sorry if I sound salty, it just feels good to unload on this computer and the amount of grief it has caused me over this past year.

not happy

I tried it at the store; it was very fast..but after 6-7 months, I feel disappointed with my purchase.I only use it for the basic tasks; like online shopping, reading emails. I don't play games on this laptop; or it is not for school. I have been having problems with its performance..I sometimes attach an image, small size to send by completely freezes..then I have to restart goes to automatic repair...takes some is not reliable..and keeps crashing once in a while..not happy with this laptop..planning to take it back to store..I bought the extended warranty..hope they can fix it.

Don't do it

Do yourself a favor and do not buy this piece of garbage. Brand new laptop 2 months old and sometimes won't boot up for days also has numerous problems connecting to WiFi. I repeat my Vivobook is brand new. Thank god I paid for an extra warranty.

Fork Out the Extra Money for Something Else!

I highly dislike this laptop! The power cord NEVER stays plugged in if you move the computer. Even shifting it on your lap causes it to fall out. Not to mention, WTH is up with the massive power block right on the plug? Also, it's only a two pronged plug; no grounder. The touch pad clicks very loudly and is often stiff (has been since I opened it). The fan is also loud and don't get me started on how loud the keys are when you type. Also, sleep mode is weird. Despite my settings, it seems to wake up on its own. Furthermore, the plugged in light is bright white. You don't want this in your bedroom when you're trying to sleep...unless you need/want a nightlight. I bought this as I received a credit from Best Buy when they decided my Acer wasn't worth fixing. I was told it was comparable. It's not at all. My four year old Acer was far superior and I miss it. Every. Single. Day. Save yourself the regret and fork out the money for the laptop that you really want.

Excellent Product.

This computer is fast and is actually great for gaming. The one thing I would change is the touchpad.

I bought it online Open box with Geek squad certification but didn't start up.I returned it on the first day at the store and exchanged it with Zen-book.Although I have to some more money, it is far better than Vivobook X541UV. I will never buy Vivibook.

Fair laptop, plenty of software, slow, noisy

Have been using for 8 months, since January 2017. It used to take minutes to launch a program. Laptop has excellent components, but also mediocre ones. The Core i7 processor and GTX 920 MX graphics run OverWatch with beautiful visuals. Remember to switch the screen from "eye saver" to full colour. The 1Tb Toshiba HDD is very slow. I updated Windows and apps to the latest patch, and cloned the disk to an SSD. This requires a SATA-USB cable, a screwdriver (sold as an "SSD upgrade kit"), cloning software and a plastic spacer (usually included with an SSD). Simply download cloning software recommended by manufacturer and use included license to install it. Plug the SSD into the laptop using the SATA-USB cable, and begin cloning. Once the laptop powers off, unplug the SSD and mount it inside. Simply unscrew the keyboard, pull out the HDD, slide the SSD in its slot, with a spacer, and screw the keyboard back together. Now you can launch Windows and all your goodies from the SSD. I also keep a roomy USB 3.0 stick plugged in for personal documents and downloaded music. I work with a Logitech keyboard and mouse, both connected with a single connector (the laptop only comes with two USB ports). The fifteen-inch screen is very small, so connecting the laptop to a TV via an HDMI cable helps. I connect to the Internet via an Ethernet cable. Wi-fi is convenient, but downloading lots of data is easier through a fast, stable connection. As you can see, you can use the laptop as is, but at some point, you will spend a few more hundred dollars to make work user-friendly and comfortable. The laptop is lightweight and comes loaded with multimedia programs. If you are a university student, contact your help desk to download and use Microsoft Office free of charge. U of T and York both offer Office 365 for four years on up to ten computers. Enjoy!

Bought this for my daughter a month ago. Seemed to be working fine until the hard drive kept rebooting the computer and saying "repairing disk". Took it back a week ago. One of the sales associates said they get these returned often, and to stay away from the X series in Asus. Also felt very cheaply made. Spend your money on something with an SSD!

Do NOt Buy

Honestly guys, this is a bad computer. Do not buy it. We have had it for 6 days and we want to throw it against a wall. Buy something else! Seriously.

Bad design

It is interesting that only left hand side have USB port. This make almost not possible to plugin a mouse for right-handed users. Not sure why they make the machine this way. There is plenty of spaces at right hand side, but only has a security lock plugin. Returned for sure.
