Purchased this two months ago. The fan is so loud and the speakers are weaker than my iPhone or any device I've had in the past. I strongly considered returning, and only stopped because I was in desperate need of a device for classes after my Surface Pro 3 failed spontaneously. Now this laptop's fans have failed.
Initially, I was okay with the device. The trackpad has issues. Randomly, it will spasm and not function correctly. It's not a major issue and can be ignored, but annoying when it happens.
The fans turn on for every task, regardless of whether it it's demanding or not. They'll run high speed always without end. Opening a web browser seems to be a demanding task for this laptop.
After only two months, my fan has failed. I've done only light tasks on this laptop for school work. Never been dropped or poorly handled. I'm sending it in for repairs but I suspect that because of the fan always overworking itself, this problem is only going to repeat and I'll have to buy a new laptop within the year.
Super dissatisfied. Not worth the money. The frame is also poor. It makes creaky sounds even if you press even lightly down on it.
Best device i have ever owned, this includes laptops, tablets, mobile phones, etc
Best electronic device I have ever owned.....that includes tablets, cell phones, desktop pc's...you name it.
Best computer I have ever owned
To sum up my review, very happy with my purchase so far, despite the price.
I use the convertible function a lot, actually. It's super versatile and I like the aluminum body. The screen does have some glare, but then you can just turn up the brightness. Backlit keyboard is nice. However, it was pretty pricy. Do your best to wait for a sale on it.
Also, when your laptop is closed, it can be tough to open it, since there's no where to stick in a fingernail, takes a try or two.
I recommend it tho!
I bought this laptop and returned it in the same day. The fan was extremely loud, it was so distracting and I would never bring it to a lecture. I couldn't believe so much noise could come out of such a little laptop. It also became extremely hot. I didn't have it on for more than 15 minutes and it already was scorching hot. Other than these problems, everything else was fine.
I bought another asus laptop before this one. The hard drive failed the moment i turned it on. The employee at best buy recommended this one because I was looking at something with a solid state drive. This computer works wonders. It is very durable, super fast and the touchscreen is a huge bonus.
I had done my research on just about every "brand" of laptop on the market. I avoided ASUS at all cost because of my horrible experience with it in 1st year university in 2011.
I was definitely considering on purchasing the MacBook Air over every other laptop in the market. I walked into best buy and a sales rep surprisingly referred me to the ASUS UA360. I told him how much I hated ASUS, and he gave me all the reasons why it's a better laptop than an apple product.
1st and foremost, it's light, sleek and super portable, 8GB of ram, amazing processor that let's you multitask like nobody's business, touchscreen, flips all the way back like a tablet, making it an excellent tool for studying in cramp cubicles. It's pretty much everything I need.
Did I mention how pretty the Rose Gold is? I had 14 days to return it or exchange it for a different colour.....but 1.5 weeks deep into my relationship with my laptop...I can't see myself trading it in for anything else.
ASUS, I'm extremely impressed. They have absolutely redeemed themselves.
Considering the price, I was really disappointed to find the day after I purchased it, the trackpad was glitching. I took it in for service and was granted ordering a replacement under warranty. Staff failed to mention that many, many people are experiencing the same issue as the reviews are now telling me. It is absolutely still usable and i do love it I just wish there was no glitch since it was incredibly expensive. Luckily the touch screen works great. I’ve had no other issues so far. Fan is a bit loud as others mention, but definitely quieter than older laptops.
Good that I can use it either as a laptop or a tab, I like its 360 folding function as well as the touch screen function (especially when I am writing in other languages). The keyboard is well designed, the keys are right in size and proportion, also the mouse pad is so good that it is situated in the centre right just below the keyboard. The expansion slots and two 3.0 USB slots are enough for me.
Overall speaking, the laptop is light, handy and fulfilled my requirement, but I am of the opinion that the manufacturer should consider:
1. Designing an edge in the laptop so that it will enable users to open it easily, and
2. Make it possible to add more SSD and RAM, and
3. Equipped with a screen writing pen.
I would say it is a good product and value for money.
over the years I have 7 ASUS machines and I loved them, except the recent buy last month. No technical issues or complaints but, these fairly high end, delicate looking unit comes without a pouch. I was surprised and disappointed!. All Asus machines I have so far had this and protected my computer during the insane travel schedules. Sounds silly, I was annoyed hence picked up a HP Spectre last week from somewhere else.
I bought this laptop back on Aug 30th and I love it! I have been using it for three weeks now and so far its working great! It is my first pc laptop ever. I have always been with apple i.e macbook pro (bought mine back in 2013) and that was my first laptop ever. This is a GREAT laptop to use and it was cheaper than my macbook pro 2013 version! I was going to get the new macbook pro but it had too many different features that I didn't like and it is WAYYY more expensive compared to my previous macbook pro.
Its a great and cheap laptop for University usage. I only use it to surf the web and take notes.
-great battery life (I've had 9-10 hours with multiple tabs open in chrome)
- back lit keyboard (make sure to NOT clear off the ATK package. Geek squad thought it was bloatware and I was wondering why i didn't have backlit keyboard when it was suppose to. I figured it out and redownloaded it back on my laptop)
-tablet mode - i thought i wasn't going to use it in that mode but its quite useful!
- Its nice looking and light too!
- fan -- the fan was the only issue I disliked about this laptop but thankfully i downloaded a program that lets you control the fan. Its called Notebook fan control.
-touch pad -- It is too big and sensitive for me personally. However, windows has lots of features for me to configure it so I'm good with it now! I just had to turn some features off of it.
- storage -- Its not a con for me since I always save my stuff on external hard drives and USBs but it could be for other people.
Bought this laptop for my wife and so far she has enjoyed it save for two quirks.
The fan does go off quite often and is a bit loud for her. To fix that I went into the advanced power settings and turned the overall speed of the processor down. By default it is a 2.5 ghz processor which is super fast. I dropped it to about 2 ghz (still fast) and the fan wouldn't come on as often.
She finds the touchpad doesn't respond the way she expects. I haven't had the same issues when I've used it so I'm not sure what to say further about that. I did switch off a lot of the multi touch features but she still finds it behaves oddly. She does also work on a Mac and to be honest the Mac trackpad is better.
Apart from that she loves the touchscreen, the screen resolution is top notch and the keyboard is great also. She also likes the flipscreen feature, something she didn't expect she'd use. All in all, I would say this has been a great buy!
I was so excited to buy this but had to return it. It heated up very quickly (within 2 min) and was so noisy. I would not feel comfortable bringing this to a meeting with others as the fan (Or the heatbar or whatever) is very disruptive. It stayed noticeable when I watched a short video online. I don't know what to buy as a replacement- I wanted this computer so bad!
Great computer, sometimes freezes a little and runs hot. speed is not a problem and its touch-friendly.
I have had it for a couple weeks and i love it!!
I switched from a 2011 Macbook Pro. This laptop works fine and is fast. The laptop-to-tablet feature is really great, mainly because the touchpad is just horrible. It's almost unusable at times, always right clicking or highlighting at randomly. Even with changing all of the settings, it didn't really improve. It gets very frustrating, I may return this for something else.
Just bought this yesterday and amazing first impression! Very well guided set-up, very fast, everything is swift and looks awesome! The battery lasts a while and not too much glare which is nice, I would definitely recommend!
Very happy with this laptop. It was a gift for my wife. It has everything that she wanted in a new computer. Very lightweight! Backlight works great. Super fast start up time .... 5 seconds. Nice tablet feature. She loves the touchscreen. Also I bought this for full price online and it went on sale two days later, I went to customer service and they gave the difference back on my credit card. Awesome!!
love it really easy to use
I just purchased this computer as a backup to my bigger heavier home laptop. I needed something smaller that I could carry around daily and to top it off it's rose gold!
The only thing I am disappointed with is that the computer does not come with any accessories. I saw online that Asus provides a black leather pouch or sleeve with this model but there was nothing in the box. With the hefty price tag, I don't know why Canadians aren't provided the accessories that the US / European and even Asian countries get (as per what I saw online).
Otherwise it's light, compact, sleek and beautiful computer so far. I will update this review once I set it up and use it some more. I am giving 4 stars for now due to lack of accessories.
For those people who don't know what the colour Rose-Gold is... you should have ordered black... sigh
I had this laptop for only 20 days and I received the blue screen of death. I barely used it too. Definitely not worth the buy and completely overpriced for something that dies so fast.
This was the first laptop I have splurged on and I am very pleased with the product I have received so far. Quick downloads; fast browsing; lightweight and easily portable; the convertible feature adapts well when the screen is flipped and has quick response time. I have had no issues with the fan being loud or constantly on and the colour is exactly what I would expect from something claiming to be "rose gold". It is pink with a metallic undertone as rose gold is.
touchscreen Response is good as well as picture quality. Speed is good. Great for a home PC. No Backlit keyboard... but tome that isn't a big deal. Fan is a bit loud, louder than you would expect for the size of the processor.
Overall pretty good product.
Easy to use for whole family. Touch screen and foldable great for learning games and watching video. Good price on sale. Color is as described.
This laptop really delivers what it promises. It's fast, has cool features, and the aesthetic is beautiful!
Since it says rose gold, I was not surprised when it was more pink than gold, and it had such a beautiful metal body.
The website indicates this is a fan-less model but as other reviewers have mentioned, there is a fan. BestBuy please get the details and specs of your products correct so people don't waste their time
Overall this is a good laptop in terms of performance, a great laptop in terms of finish. The weakness for me is that Best Buy carries the French Canadian keyboard (rather than the US keyboard pictured). This causes some inconveniences like left shift is small like a regular key and many special characters are not accessible unless you install windows 10 with French Canadian keyboard.
I have a long list of cons, but OVERALL PROS OUTWEIGH THE CONS and this laptop is worth it. Just listing cons for information purposes/constructive feedback
-obviously spec wise it is incredible for the price and size
-keyboard is very adaptive (easy to use, easy to get used to)
-touchpad is 3.5/5- can be annoying at times, but I've experienced way more annoying ones on other laptops
CONS (in order of most to least annoying)
-POWER BUTTON ON THE SIDE is very inconvenient because laptop doesn't wake with keyboard or mouse, so you have to press the power button on the side very hard. Can be hard to find, or difficult/impossible if using only 1 hand (laptop has to stay in place to press the button hard enough for it to wake)
-similarly, VOLUME BUTTONS ON THE SIDE are also annoying for the same reason. In the 2 weeks I've had this laptop I have never used them. Maybe I just need to get used to them, but would be better if they were on the top surface of laptop as usual
-Screen has some glare
-sound is very quiet!
-fan can get loud when doing heavy tasks (but that comes with the territory)
I love all the thing in this 2 in 1 except the power fan noisy. It sounds like jet . always without stop.
I really like this laptop - I believed it to not have a backlit keyboard as some websites stated it did not but mine does and it works well. It is pink or rose gold - it's also available in silver - I bought this in store so I was able to see the colour in person. The fan is a bit noisy but I didn't notice it to be all that bothersome - it's mild. Keeps great battery life when in use for a few days on end. The flip function is great for studying, watching movies, planes, etc. I love it, the only thing I would change is when you flip it - the screen has a tendency to flip with movement and if you lock it vertically it will stay that way even when you flip it back to laptop. It's fast functionally and gets the job done, very nice and lightweight to carry around. My choices were between this and a MacBook air in rose gold also. I chose this one because 1. It had more available storage 2. Flip function 3. I enjoy this style of keyboard more than the depressed style Mac has now 4. Just as nice and easy to carry around size-wise
I would recommend this computer to :
students (light user)
sleek design, bright screen, great sound, great variety of input and output ports but noisy fan.
The Harman Kardon speakers (not in the description for some reason) sound great (better than the HP B&O speakers) but aren't as loud.
Love everything about it except the noisiness of the fan. If you don't mind some noise or wear noise canceling headphones it shouldn't be a big deal. Other than that would give 5 stars! Works great so far. In the details and specs:Inputs & Outputs it say's the keyboard is not back lit, it actually is which is awesome! and should be in all new models. Regarding the color it is a gorgeous dusty/pastel pink with a gold shimmer/gloss.
- Easy on the go.
- Comfortable switch to tablet mode
- Very thin - not heavy!
7 day use rating.
I reserved this online and had my boyfriend pick it up at a nearby store. I've been wanting a rose gold/pink laptop (not a macbook) for ages, but was having a hard time finding one available to buy in Canada. When I saw this, I was worried because the title lists this as gold however the picture shows rose gold. I took a chance and I am so glad I did... this zenbook is absolutely beautiful! Gorgeous colour and design, very light and compact, and it has a really cool tablet feature. Obviously, I understand that this is not for everyone if you're looking to get technical... but the laptop that I was previously using was 5+ years old - so as you can imagine - this is quite the upgrade. It does everything I need it to and looks great sitting on my desk. Love it!
My major complaints is that the "fan" is noisy (it's actually fanless, using a heatpipe instead), occasionally the glossy screen may be difficult to see but adjusting brightness will help with that, and actually is a bit hefty in weight, the touch screen tends to get easily hold finger prints, and I found that it was difficult to figure out how to switch in and out from tablet mode. People complain about the rose gold colour but that's completely alright with me, it's attractive. As for "no backlit keyboard" try hitting Fn + f4. You're welcome.
Best buy has been very deceptive about this product. This laptop went on sale and the description suggested that it had backlit keyboard, but the information on the website suggests the opposite. They gave me a French keyboard, which is not what the picture on the website perceives; I believe they do not even have the regular keyboard.
Colour is way more rose than gold which I love but title is misleading
Nice lightweight convertible Laptop that was perfect in every way, however unfortunately I had to return due to noisy fan that was on all the time and never shut off.
Even at idle, the fan would be running and noticeable in a quiet room and as soon as you opened up more than one application the fan would ramp up and the noise would amplify making it too much of a distraction.
The laptop is completely fine. IT does everything you need it to do, however the fan is constantly running. It's not a loud screaming noise, but it's a constant fan humming noise that is slowly killing me. If you don't mind the noise, then it is perfect for you.
Product is more of a pink than gold, product itself works great just wish it were gold considering I'm a male user of this pc.
The description states the product is suppose to be gold but instead it's pink with a gold tint. Nice for the ladies though.
