French keyboard is terrible

This model comes with a frustratingly annoying French Canadian keyboard... the left shift button is half it's normal size... making for usual 60+ WPM touch typing impossible. Rather than getting the shift key you'll find you're hitting the \ button instead. English buyer beware.

Really Slow

2gb ram is not recommended in this day and age for any computer. I had crashes and also build quality is ok at best.

worst???

Other reviewers say this Chromebooks crash too often because there is a limit to how many open windows that can be open at once. Maybe about 5 to 7. A PC has virtual memory because it can use a hard drive as memory. Chromebooks don't have a hard drive. Because they can't run a lot of software like a PC can they won't run viruses or keyloggers. These are the top in secure computers. If you have two Chromebooks one at work one at home you can continue where you left off once you leave work and get home. A lot of the bad reviews are comparing Chromebooks to PC's. A Pc is more like a Mac than it is like a Chromebook. With a chromebook you don't go out and buy a spread sheet like Excel you get it free as a Chrome extension. The bad guys can not touch you if you are using a Chromebook.

Good for the price

This chromebook does as well as I expected. It's not exceptionally fast but it's not slow either. The battery life goes on forever and other than a weird glitch where it doesn't always play facebook videos when I click on them it really does everything I need it to. This isn't the computer for someone whose interested in gaming or doing much but it works well for netflix, facebook, youtube and basic browsing/programs. I have only had it a week so far but I'm overall pretty pleased with it. You can't expect all the features of a really nice computer when you're paying a basic/low fee but it does the job, which is what I needed!

Excellent Chromebook

We bought this Chromebook for our 12 year-old daughter. She uses it primarily for school work using her google docs account, but also uses it to stream videos, music and surf the web. Functionality is great for the intended purpose. I think most of the other reviewers are comparing this to a normal laptop, which it is not. This Chromebook is lightweight and very rugged. Serves our purposes extremely well!

This is NOT a computer.

It isn't even a laptop. It does NOT have a computer OS. You will NOT be able to install programs, nor can you expect the program's app to function fully. What this IS, is a comfort and convenience tool. I stream netflix (browser, not the app) well, while having other pages tabbed. Perhaps a few small apps. I write with ms online, because i have zero need for full ms office functionality. I've experienced no lags when switching through tabs. No "white screens". Unless the site page is just slow itself, it loads, and fast. I bought this chromebook with the intentions of writing with a smaller machine. Maneuvering a fullsize laptop while curled on my chair wasn't feasible. Carrying one around in my backpack (which does have a laptop compartment, but it would be tight with a fullsize) wasn't a welcome idea. If you're expecting OS functionality, being able to listen to music (haven't tried that because im deaf), run 20+ tabs, and a few apps- isn't going to happen with only 2g of ram. If you want a small, efficient machine bigger than your tablet but smaller than a lappie, go for a CB. Now, there are some cons. Screen brightness is never truly "bright". This thing isn't going to blind you. And there's a matte coating on the screen that affects that, but i guess they were going for anti-glare. Oh, and if you intend to do a lot of downloads, invest in an sd or usb. I have one and it's been invaluable.

slow and crashes all the time, barely function worse machine that i ever owned.

Slow

I haven't used a computer this slow since highschool. Every webpage takes 20 seconds to load, it lags even when closing a webpage. If I'm playing music , the music will jam if I open another tab. The only thing that works fine is google docs, but , only after it takes the full minute to load a file.

Not worth the purchase

Really really bad for a chromebook, super slow, can barley function half the time, not a single app downloaded actually functions more than a minute before crashing, possibly the worst purchase for a chromebook. even if it lasts longer than most other laptops it doesnt really function anywhere close to a chromebook or laptop. a tablet from 2012 can run better than this machine.
