Few weeks after purchase the graphics card failed. Luckily the ASUS service center is in Toronto otherwise I would have needed to go through the process of sending the whole computer to ASUS which would have taken weeks. ASUS doesn't cover shipping and you cannot send it in the original box. Also ASUS customer service send me to BestBuy to get the computer fixed on ASUS' behalf. When I went to BestBuy they said they wouldn't fix the computer as I hadn't purchased one of their services when purchasing the computer at one of their stores weeks before. Another issue I have noticed with this computer is that it sometimes randomly shuts down without any warning. The same issue applies to the screen (also ASUS and also new). It turns off randomly saying that there is no signal from the display port and it cannot be turned back on unless you force a shut down which is also bad for the system. Another thing is that windows frequently shows the message on the desktop that something has been plugged into the audio jack or so (don't recall the message) and when that happens the whole system freezes for a few seconds comparable to a system crash. How reliable is this? The system shuts down or the screen turns black in the middle of whatever you do. Conclusion: I spend a lot of money on a new computer (intentionally not going for the cheaper models) and screen for a reason but this machine was very disappointing which is very annoying considering that I didn't intend to purchase another computer in years. Although the ASUS service was fast and they fixed everything in a few days and without costs, I had wasted a lot of time to get the graphics card issue fixed. It was very inconvenient, too. I wouldn't buy it again and not sure if I will ever buy an ASUS product again. This is also proof that expensive isn't always better.
