Absolute junk

This computer is totally useless. 5 plus hours to update windows 10 and 15 to 20 minutes to boot. It’s going back for a refund on Monday. Do not buy this terrible product.

To Zack, et al re: recharging to 100%

All Windows 10 PCs charge to 100%, and then are programed to drift down to 94% charge until they start recharging again. It extends the battery life-cycle. My brand new HP Z Book G4 portable work station does exactly the same thing. It is normal. It is not a glitch unless it refuses to charge below 90%, then you do indeed have a problem. Otherwise, that is how they extend battery life. Hope this info is a help. Cheers JB

Don't Buy, Defective Motherboard

I was impressed by it originally but after a few days, the battery stopped charging to 100% when plugged in, I brought it to Geek Squad and the man said it would be a defective motherboard so the only option was to exchange it so I did get another of this model. Sure enough, a few days after use, i looked at my charging bar and even though I had left it plugged in all night, it said that it was plugged in not charging at 95%. I've heard ASUS is a good brand but this experience tells me otherwise. Other than that though the Best Buy and Geek Squad service is great since I was able to exchange it with no problems.

Worst laptop ever

OH MY GOD!! This is the worst laptop ever. Super slow!!!! I wonder if it is refurnished or second hand. Have serious problem to upgrade windows system. Lagged each time. My friend has a m3, it takes 15min in total to upgrade hers. But it took me 3h(and mine is i5-7200) to upgrade till 18%( and I restarted it, cut down the upgrade, I don't have enough patience for this garbage). If you just want to watch movies, and surf the sites. It will be fine. Other than that, think twice!!!!

This computer literally ruined my life. Do not buy unless you hate money.

Pretty solid!

I don't know why people are saying that this laptop is slow?? It runs GTA V on 40 to 50 fps on medium settings.

Don't Buy This - Most Units Have Defective WiFi Adapter/Software

it's a deal for a reason. the wifi adaptor keeps malfunctioning. I bought this in after I bought it and I found out the techs new about the issue, and can't fix it.... they keep selling the units. BE WARNED!!! YOU WILL BE COMPLETELY FRUSTRATED BY HAVING TO RESET THE ROUTER EVERY 15 MINUTES.

I got this laptop earlier today and it is painfully slow, using one tab and no video/music. Personally, I can't get over the cheap plasticy feel of the entire body. the whole casing is a hollow sounding plastic, which is particularly irritating when using the keyboard. It's not the worst thing, but between the fragile feel and the super slow browsing, I'm better off with my old laptop.

Piece of garbage

The problems with this piece of garbage never end. Just stay away from it. Immediately the second USB port stopped working, motherboard issue. Constant driver issues, that's an ASUS thing I guess. Touchpad is BAD. New driver fixed that for a bit, now the problems are back. Within 6 mos. the network card stopped working. Now the only remaining USB port is having trouble recognizing devices. Garbage!

good computer if you are not a big gamer

This is a good computer for basic tasks, but it has trouble with harder tasks like running a game. If you are just looking for a basic computer than this is the one for you, if you want it to do more than the basics, you should keep looking.

Just bad

This computers are terrible, their performance is the worst. They may remember you those old good times in the 90's where it took like 5 minutes to load an application. I tried to install an SSD on them and after wasting several hours and even sending them back with an RMA they just told me they don't support basically anything that is not included in the original package....yeah, that's ASUS technical support response... So the SSD's just don't work on them, their CPU's must be very old and crappy.....So before buying this think in all the time and money you are going to spend on this computers trying to make them usable, its clearly cheaper to got for an ACER at least...

Don't Buy This - Most Units Have Defective WiFi Adapter/Software

things seemed to work fine but all ASUS units of X541U and similar models have defective software for the WiFI Adapter - which goes out intermittently--too often. The repair techs know about this at the Burnaby location (GeekSquad) and have told their reps, but they are intent on selling all their inventory. Be warned. You'll be very frustrated. You need to keep deleting the adapter/driver and restart the machine. It is a real pain and they don't know what else to do with it.

Avoid Asus

This is coming from a Technician, Please avoid Low - Mid End Asus Laptops like this one. You will be disappointing with the Bootup times and overall performance. Asus puts cheap Harddrives that fail easy and are slower than computers several times cheaper than this. Save your Money and Put it into Acer or Dell Laptops

Terrible customer support and poor quality product.

Never buy an Asus product ever. My computer broke after only 6 months and they refused to repair it, charging me 500 dollars even though it was under warranty. Terrible customer service. Crap product that the company will not stand behind at all.

Good for awhile

I purchased this laptop at the end of July/early August for the upcoming school year, as my old computer (a macbook pro) had several hard drive issues, and I couldn't risk the hard drive wiping while doing an important assignment. When I first bought this, it was a good investment. The fan was loud however, but it was good. It ran quickly, and was easy enough to navigate. However, the battery life isn't that fantastic, and I've recently been having issues with the wifi dropping on it constantly. The other laptops in my home (including my old mac that still works) are all connected to the internet, while my ASUS claims to 'need to be connected to the internet via ethernet cable'. Not only has this problem begun, but it's constantly slow. I've reset it, and while it's running OK for now, I'm still not pleased with the overall performance of the computer, and regret switching over.

The laptop has a really nice design but for the specs it is relatively slow. Hangs a lot

Light, quiet but so slow.

Purchased this yesterday, it's going back tomorrow. Unbelievably slow. I am replacing a 6 year old Toshiba with a first generation i5 processor, as the screen died. This ASUS is so much slower than it, and even my older i5 desktop. All have 8 GB of RAM. Webpages took several minutes to load if they loaded at all. I gave up and used my desktop. Can't blame the wireless because my dead Toshiba was in the same location and running beautifully until the screen died. Would not recommend. Trying to give it 2 stars but do not seem to be able to from my mobile phone.

Not Good

Applications such as Windows and Windows Edge started crashing on the first day of use. It also moved very slow for a laptop with an i5 processer and 8G of RAM.
