Do not buy this, garbage

This product is garbage, it does not do what it was suppose to do 99% of the time . I have my Bluetooth/wifi always on as requested, but every time when I get home I would need to manually take my phone out, open the app, press the unlock button. What’s the point? I could have kept my original lock and use my keys if that’s the case. I have complained to August many times but no reply what so ever . Don’t waste your money!

I installed the lock about a week ago. Install was easy and it works well but the lock serves little function operating on bluetooth alone if you are not standing beside it. I assume they decided on a bluetooth radio in the lock to conserve battery life. I did order the Wifi module as well as part of the same order but Best Buy decided to ship them separately and I am still waiting for it to arrive. I expect this will make the lock more functional as long as I can get the wifi module close enough to the lock to maintain a constant bluetooth connection ..... we will see?

only partially good under warranty

What a disappointment. I installed this product last year. it worked ok for the first half a year. Than the batteries needed replacement every month or two. Finally the calibration madness began. At first you think you will just do a simple calibration on software. The software calibration is usually useless and you need to remove the august lock of the wall with the latch wings. Then force the lock to turn from 12 position to 9 position and 3 position. That worked half a dozen times. Everytime I spend half an hour on a call with support. Now even the manual calibration won't work. SORRY you are out of support!!! I have the wifi connection and the door pad...useless now since the Door lock won't work! Thank god I didn't buy the august camera door bell. I called and even offered to pay to fix it. All I got was 20% off the new lock. If you complain long enough they might raise it to %30 off....bottom line. STAY AWAY!!!!!

Could not install two different August Smart locks

Was given the puck shaped one or XMAS. Could not install it because its diameter is so large it bumps into the trim on the inset window on the front door. So we took it back and got this one - which is narrower. Its installation require you to temporarily spread out two "wings" on its base. Once the lock is in position you close the "wings" and it clamps in place. Again, the trim on my window comes into play. There is about a 1/4" between the side of the lock and the window trim. When open the wings stick out 1.5". So remove window trim in order to install a lock? Nope.
