The bowl quality can not withstand the strong motor

I purchased this food processor in December 2017. Initially I was very happy with the strong motor and how quickly and efficiently it processes food. As I used it more often I realized it has many downsides and limitations. Yesterday I used the small bowl to grind cinnamon sticks. I usually use my cheap magic bullet for spices but I thought to myself it will be noisy and takes way too long with magic bullet. The spice was falling into the big bowl and I ended up cleaning the whole assembly. But that was my least concern, the cinnamon stick got melted right into the bowl. So I called breville today and sure enough this happens to a lot of people. I was advised to use the pulse mode. But this should not happen if the bowls are made of professional quality like Vitamix is. In the big bowl you can not process hot soup. You have to wait till it cools down. Also it does not come with whisk attachment , the emulsifining disc does not exactly do the same job as whisk attachment. So for example if you are mixing liquid and creme cheese , creme cheese will stay clumpy.

Glad I bought this model

This is a very powerful machine and built to last. Does not vibrate around on counter and is not noisy at all (my cat is not even scarred of it). Slices, grates and juliennes firm veg like carrots and beets without any stress or slowing of the motor at all. And soooo fast. You can also slice soft veg easily too. I was quite amazed at how it sliced green onions and mushrooms. I used the smaller feeder tube for the green onions and they slice as they fall in the machine. I wanted the mushrooms sliced so you had the T instead of all willy nilly...for this I stuffed the shrooms in the big tube laying on their sides (with machine off). Used the plunger and turned the machine on. Only noticed one shroom out of 40 that got sliced horizontally. Blades are very sharp and sturdy. You can swap out one tool for another very easy. You can tell Breville thought about how to clean the thing too...very easy to clean. The plastic does not hold smells. I do not find it too heavy to move but so far it sits on my counter as I use it almost every day. This model comes with a julienne and a french fry blade and I love both of them. Julienned carrots for salads is wonderful and I prefer this to grated carrots for most part. Alot of models do not come with these blades; so glad I bought this model instead. Also some models do not give the large chopping blade for the big bowl and only come with the small bowl and small blade (which sits inside the big bowl when you use it). I will put the small bowl and blade away and probably never use them since the big bowl is so awesome. One very nice thing is that you can fill the bowl with liquid and it wont leak out. I have never seen this in other processors. Most other machines have a hole in the center of the bowl and you can only fill liquid up to that point. It also has a seal (black line near top of bowl in pic) that prevents stuff spilling out. That rubber seal is also good for chopping hot peppers. My last machine would gas you out of the house...this one holds the powder and smell of that powder inside the bowl!!! I wish it had a couple of speeds instead of only the one. It is hard to get a rough chop of veg. Although I have figured out a few tricks to do it. Cord is a bit short and may be an issue for some. Cord retracts into the machine which is nice.

I’m so happy

5 stars. I watched the videos how to use it on YouTube and read all the reviews so I decided to buy it and let me tell you no regrets it’s on my counter because we use it a lot me and my kids “teenagers” it is easy to use after watching the video and it’s easy to clean. I wash mine right away when finished instead of the washing machine I want to keep it nice and shiny for a long time.

Very bad plastic parts

I bought it at the end of 2015 but do only use occasionally when I have to cook for a bigger batch. At the beginning I was really happy with the look and the performance but eventually the plastic parts started breaking and falling apart !!! 1st was the top edge of the large food pusher, then it twas the large processing bowl with handle and finally today it's the bowl lock plate attached to the base. I am really very upset. I don't know what I have done that I should not. I am very careful about my kitchen appliances because cooking is my passion. Now I am trying to contact Breville Canada for replacement parts :(

I am considering purchasing this appliance. Can someone tell me if I can put the bowls and blades in the dishwasher?

Paid full price and love it

I purchased this food processor about 8 months ago. I have used it several time and love it. I highly recommend buying it. My only issue is the extremely short power cord. I had to buy an extension cable to be able to use the machine. Otherwise this is 5 stars.

Better than I could imagine!

I searched and compared higher end food processors and decided to go with the Breville Sous Chef 16 cup, and I'm so happy I did! This machine is so easy to use and the results are simply amazing! The price may seem high compared to others but the quality and extra attachments makes this machine worth it!

Breville Sous Chef Food Processor

Love this food processor, powerful yet so quiet. I would recommend this product to a friend.

Fabulous Machine!

I've been using this machine for 6 mos. and can't find fault with anything. I moved up from an old 11 cup Kitchenaid and thought buying the 16 cup Breville might be overkill but I'm so glad I did. I use this machine virtually every day. It cuts shoestring, French fries in seconds, and mixes lovely pastry, scones, and quick breads, not to mention selecting any thickness of veggies I want and whipping cream. The storage box keeps the parts organized as well. Yes, it's pricey but I highly recommend this machine to anyone looking for a powerful, well engineered food processor.

Breville Sous chef

A very powerful machine, lightening fast! I would give it a 5 star and It would be perfect if it had a dicing option. Easy clean up and assembly. Easy to use. The base is heavy and is very difficult to move due to the traction of the rubber feet so you need to lift it. A very good machine even though it leaves some portions of vegetables between the blade and top but nothing is perfect. The blade storage case is great just plan on lots of room to store that and the machine. I'm still learning how to use it. A good buy on sale.

Superb food processor

If your looking at this processor you already know what your looking for / need so bite the bullet and pay for it. I've been on the slow upgrade to high end kitchen appliances and regret none of it so far (blendtec, this processor ect). So here is what I don't like about it: It's huge.. Yes it's 16cup but the whole unit plus the accessorie case takes up a considerable amount of real estate. The spatula that came with it melted on the top rack (says it's all top rack safe for occasional wash.. This wasn't true for the spatula) Other than the above this thing is flawless and im glad I purchased it.

Simplies life!!

My old Kitchen Aid processor died and I ordered this online and it was here in 2 days time! If this wasn't fast, my husband and I tried the french fry attachment and it was processed in a flash. We cater and this machine is our dream come true, I have shared the experience with a friend and my husband also showed them the Youtube video with a few things it is capable of and she was sold. She is so eager to get hers for Christmas because her days of cooking have caused arthritis and this will be her go to machine. Best price on sale and retail price, I have seen it on another big name store's site for a lot higher. :-O

Superb Quality

I am highly impressed with this food processor. Effortless use, easy clean up (I hand wash the bowls), sturdy construction, solid (doesn't move when in use), and comes complete with a tool box with every attachment you will need. It is large so I don't keep it on the counter, but it isn't THAT heavy that it makes it a problem to move. The small bowl fits inside the large one so cleanup is easy and the spatula is great to get every bit out even when you mince. I have had it a month and use it regularly - so far, no complaints. Read the manual fully before use as it does have some safety features that you will need to know or it won't operate. One caution - they are not kidding when they say the blades are razor sharp. I learned this taking the slicing blade off the spindle (twice!) - just touching the cutting edge will cut unsuspecting fingers.

Superb food processor

Pizza dough came out great on first try. Really easy to clean because of its nice design. In one day I've tried several things and very pleased. It is quiet and solid. The plastic is thick and seal / locking mechanism very smooth. The timer is a feature I did not think I would use but it is very useful, especially if you are doing multiple tasks at once, and who isn't? It's a keeper.

Pure Breville Quality and Performance!

I have nearly replaced all my small appliances with Breville products, and this is the latest addition. I have become exceptionally loyal to the Breville brand due to its superior build and quality over the other brands in same category and price point. This unit is a breeze to use and clean and delivers exceptional performance. Very satisfied customer. Can not comment on customer service as none of my Breville products have ever had issues. I do not work for Breville nor have I received any products from Breville in exchange for favourable reviews.

Blade sticks

Very powerful, efficient food processor. However, after a couple of years of use, we find it difficult to pull the blade after mixing. The original idea was to have a secure blade to keep it from falling out when pouring. That works for a while but now the blade will not come out at all. It takes a lot of pulling, we worry about getting cut and we are looking for another processor just to correct this flaw.

Breville Sous Chef

Lovely to look at coming out of the box. Very heavy duty (professional grade, I'd say). Easy to assemble and use. Amazingly fast. Easy to clean. Good warranty. Does just about everything except clean up the kitchen afterwards! This is a great machine and I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for a serious machine at a reasonably affordable price - especially when on sale!

The Ferrari of Food Processors

Truly an amazing machine. I went shopping intending to purchase another brand/model. When I saw the Sous Chef I did a double-take and reconsidered. It was a bit more expensive but worth every penny. My only complaint is that it is quite tall and does not fit where my old one did, but it's not a flaw. I can't vouch for it's reliability yet, but it feels very solid. It also has many extra features that I didn't intend to use but already have. For example the French Fry disc works better than expected, and the dough mixing spindle has come in useful on several occasions. It's truly the King of food processors.

This product delivers

This is a great food processor. It is also surprisingly fast. I make lots of soups and it and chop in seconds. Only complaint is the instruction booklet is terrible. I'e had to watch videos on line to figure out some of the functions and adjustments.
