  • Make sure to remove the protective film from the battery compartment!

Just a note about that battery problem another reviewer had: When I first unpacked the calculator and turned it on, I got a low battery message. Just be sure to remove the protective pastic film from the battery compartment before powering the calculator. This is done by simply pulling on that flimsy tab protruding from the battery bay (it'll just slide out easy without opening).

  • An Excellent Calculator

More than a clone of the Casio fx-991ES PLUS (a.k.a. fx-115ES PLUS), the Canon F-792SGA offers noteworthy enhancements not found in the former. Canon has included ten additional general-purpose memory registers, increased the calculator's internal precision to significant 20 digits (although many functions only take advantage 15 digits; still an improvement when compared with 12 on the Casio), all while retaining a familiar V.P.A.M.-like interface that savvy users have postulated is the real deal, probably licensed from Casio. This calculator also uses a solar cell to help increase the lifespan of it's replaceable battery. This might well be the best non-graphing, non-programmable calculator available on the market today, and ostensibly has fewer errors than competing offerings by Texas Instruments (e.g. the TI 36X Pro which has a notorious—and insidious—bug when dealing with mixed fractions involving Pi). My vote is for the Canon F-792SGA.

Very useful, but the battery is not chargeable and empty when I get it.
