Best Bang for Buck

We've used a couple different scanners in our design studio and for the price we find that this scanner works great.

Good for regular picture and negative scanning

I bought this to replace my old Epson 1650 to continue archiving family pictures and negatives. Speed and ease of use are good. My technical tests show that the 9000F achieves much less dynamic range than the old Epson. As a result, scans of weak negatives yield unacceptable levels of dithered noise in dark areas. This is a shame since useable scan resolution was better (the 9000F seems to do a decent 2400 dpi). 12 bits of useable depth would have made this a wonderful scanner, but I will have to keep searching. (Using supplied software, as well as GIMP and VueScan, made no difference in technical results.) Test on film show an effective scan resolution approaching 2000 dpi, which is competitive for a flatbed and good enough for all but the best negatives.

Quality Product

Purchased to convert hundreds of old slides and pictures to digital. Scanner is very easy to use and provides great results. Totally satisfied with this product and would recommend it highly to anyone wanting to digitize old pictures and slides.

Canon 9000 F scanner

Good scanner, did the job for my slides. All in all I am satisfied.

Canon 9000F Scanner

It does a super job but the software seems to conflict with Adobe Photoshop Elements when using the buttons on the cover and I have not been able to resolve the issue. It renders these buttons useless.
