Disposable product

This is an easy to use product (the one star review I read here that complains about not being able to scan six of something into one doc isn't a hardware issue, it's that the review didn't know how to use his software) and fine for the price, but keep in mind, it is designed to be disposable. The port where the cable plugs in is awkward, and I started to have issues with the connection to the computer going in and out after about two weeks. A few months later and the port doesn't work at all, and you can see that it is moving around, unsecured. The machine has not been moved around or anything like that. Also, the unit cannot be opened to fix the issue. Well-priced. Easy to use. Not dependable. Not well made.

usb disconnects

this thing literally crapped out after i scanned 2 documents and it is no longer able to connect to my laptop. this seems to be a common trend for this scanner as i have seen many such complaints online.

VERY UNHAPPY EXPERIENCE. I used the LIDE 220 to scan students drivers license because I am runing a driving school. The MTO request every card must be scanned with four borders, that's reasonable. But this scanner cropped the card's borders. If you line up six or eight cards in same time it will give you six or eight images instead of a whole page includes all the cards, and cropped every card's border automatically! smart eh???? I also tried to put six cards on the top with randam directions and it still give me a surprise: All of them been saved as a pdf document instead of a image. WHY? The only way I finally figured out is use the computer scan/ adjust the cropping frames. So meddlesome machine!

Best option at this price point

I bought the LiDE 220 to replace an earlier Canon LiDE model that had served me well, but finally given up the ghost after a decade of use. This new model is MUCH faster! I cannot agree with the review that knocked the quality of the scan. I find the quality very good. Obviously not suited for a high volume environment, but for occasional use, I don't think you can beat it. I especially like that it is powered via the USB cable, meaning that there is no AC Adapter (wall wart) that needs to be hooked up in addition. If and when this one wears out, I hope that Canon is still making the LiDE series!

It's easy to set up. Unfortunately, the quality is not that good. It's blurry after I printed out the scanned document.

Ideal for personal use

It's perfect when there are not too many pages need to be scanned. The quality is wonderful, clear and colorful.

Ideal for Personal/Home Office Use

The Canon CanoScan LiDE 220 is ideal for occasional but dedicated scanning needs for personal/home office use with a reasonable price tag - especially when it is marked down on sale.

This is the easiest thing I've ever installed. I've worked with 3-in-1 copier scanners for years and thought that's all there was to scanning. This Cannon CanoScan is so easy to use and functional. Guides are at the fingertips if needed. It is so worth the price. I highly recommend it...

For me, it is a gem

It's very rare for me to give 5-stars to anything but I'm dancing with joy. I had an ancient LiDE 60 that found itself marooned by my operating system upgrade. I use Windows 10 upgraded from Windows 7(64). After running the setup from the CD provided and carefully setting the options to my choices in place of the defaults (which are entirely sensible but not my way of working), I now open Photoshop Elements 13's Edit module and scan directly into it as smooth as silk. Thank you Canon, thank you Adobe and thank you Best Buy.

OK for the money

I had a 90 for years. Don't know why but to plug and unplug to activate each time computer goes into sleep. This one is the same.

Two lemons in a row...

I purchased this scanner based on good reviews but I'm completely disappointed. First unit: - Randomly returned all-black scans: I tried scanning to PDF an 8 page document. The first time it returned 2/8 all-black pages. The second time it returned 4/8 all-black pages (all different from the first time). Next I scanned each page as an image and once it also returned an all-black scan. - Unresponsive buttons on the unit: I often had to press a button a second time to get a response from the scanner. Second unit: - The first time I tried to use the scanner it gave the following error message: " Release the lock switch, detach the USB cable and reconnect. Scanner driver will be closed" (needles to say, the scanner was unlocked). - After that it only produced all-black scans, regardless of the settings and output format. - Unresponsive buttons on the unit: I often had to press a button a second time to get a response from the scanner. - I completely removed the software and reinstalled from scratch. I got the same problems, with the aggravation that the buttons on the unit became totally unresponsive. Other info: I'm using Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. The Canon scanner driver was version Initially I installed the software from the CD, which included Canon Quick Menu v. 2.4.0. Then I installed the software from their website, which included Canon Quick Menu v. 2.6.0. Bottom line: The scanner is going back to the store and I'm giving up on the CanoScan LiDE 220.

Died very quickly

It worked OK for a couple of weeks, Then I kept getting an error message telling me to unlock the scanner. After locking and unlocking it a number of times, the scanner did scan, but lamp had quit. I emailed Canon to seek help. Within a couple of hours, a new scanner was on its way. The speed that this happened causes me to believe that I'm not the first to run into this problem. I'll report on my experience with the new scanner after it arrives.

works well

I've had this scanner for about a month and have been using it for photos and documents. Good quality scanning, and it's easy to use. I've had someone print out one of my scanned photos and it looks good...I didn't have the original to compare on hand.
