Great Printer, Great Price

Canon MF217W printer set was very easy. The printer is quiet and works perfectly. I highly recommend this printer. I don't do reviews but I had to do this to let people know that I debated buying this printer due to poor reviews. No reason to be wary about this product it works very well and for the sale price of 149 it is truly a Best Buy!

The worst printer/scanner I've ever had

It is super slow, and it doesn't work well with Mac OS! I have never had any printer/scanner as bad as this one! Do not waste you time/money on this!

Worth the sale price

Very good printer for my home office where I run my business out of. Took about 8 minutes to set up and I am not a computer guy. WIFI hooked up immediately. Prints from my Samsung phone, iPHONE, iPAD, laptop without any issues. Haven't tried fax. Wireless scan to desktop or laptop. Only 4/5 stars because the final quality is not the sharpest for 2017/18 technology. Overall, I am happy with the purchase.

Piece of Junk

This printer has wasted so much of my time! Faxing works about half the time. Scanning to computer with their GARBAGE MF Tool Box software crashes every time after about 10 pages. Also the pages in the feeder jams up frequently. I've even went through the trouble of updating the firmware and reinstalling all the drivers. SAME problems. Please save your time and sanity and buy another printer. I should be compensated for all my lost time and productivity. Throw this thing where it belongs: in the garbage!

Printing image clearly, but noisey

Love this printer!!

Found the instruction manual a little lacking in info. Took longer than we thought to set it up and need more words and less pictures in the manual. This is the first laser printer we have had and compared to the ink jet printer there is a huge difference. To start it is immediate and printing is extremely fast. Very happy with this purchase.

Great All In One

So far works perfect, Canon is a great name product. Yes the display on the front seems like older tech so you have to push a little firm on it, maybe one of those tablet pens or something might work better on it. Prints super fast and clean, love the layout of it. If you want in all in one laser this is a great product to buy.

Awesome and reliable

I bought one of these to replace an older non-wifi Canon mf printer. Set up was a breeze and all my apple and non Apple devices are able to print. It was such a good printer that I bought another one for use at my parents house. I picked these printers up on sale. And i find it cheaper to buy a new printer every few years than replacing the toner for the 2nd time.

Complete Waste of Money

This has been the worst printer I have ever purchased. It is super slow and generally very problematic with mac OS. The scanner and fax have the tendency to not work at all!! I bought in January right before I left Vancouver for a travel, and have just returned to see what a piece of garbage I have bought! I wouldn't definitely recommend this to anyone! I have 6 computers that are connected to the 3 printers and this one is the only on that doesn't work properly!

Beware: Scanner With No USB Port

Beware of this printer for scanning. The set-up to the network is not user friendly and it has no USB Port. That's right, NO USB PORT! Clearly Canon has taken liberties with the term MULTI Function, as this unit is nothing better than a B&W printer. Do Not Buy!

Canon Printer not worth it

Canon makes good cameras but their printers are not good. I have had this printer for 1 year and it keeps disconnecting from the internet. I have connected with a cable and it still has a hard time connecting to devices. It is also not very intuitive, save your money and buy from a brand that specializes in printers!

Great Reliable Laser Printer

For the price, this printer is second to none. Fast and very efficient. I like the air print for my wife's apple devices. I would Recommend this printer for anyone that can settle for black and white as the ink jets just don't cut it like a good laser.

  • from Vaughan, ON

Not user friendly

This machine is a complicated one. If you are not tech savvy, dont go for it. The touchscreen is not responsive either. On top of that its not duplex i.e. does not print both side. Took it back and got refund. Thanks Best Buy!

Excellent work Canon

Hi. I bought this printer for a great price on Boxing Day. And it works like a charm The only downside is the scanner size so if you have a Leah all size doc then it might get tricky. Other then that works perfect with my iPhone and MacBook.

  • from Brampton, ON

happy with my purchase got it at boxing day. pros easy to setup and use (need to install canon software on all computers to make use of all features) network printing is very convienient easy to print with fast data transfer rates (preferred over wireless) all in one capability!! cons starter ink catridge sucks print quality is not great size and weight

fax machine

I ask you a question....Can I use fax without wifi ???

Satisfactory Performance

This printer works well for basic black and white printing needs. I'm a student and I use it to print my papers and it works fine for this. It prints fast and the initial ink cartridge is lasting much longer than expected. I saw someone else mention that the buttons (the touchscreen) are a little hard to use, and they weren't wrong. It's like touchscreen technology from the 1990s, but I grew up in the 90s, so it's just the matter of pressing them with extra pressure and deliberation. Set up was easy and I've had no issues with using it, although sometimes it pulls two sheets of paper at once when pulling a page to print on, so sometimes you might have to go through to remove an extraneous blank page. Overall, a satisfactory purchase — no real issues and it does the job I bought it for.

Fully featured, fast printer

The MF217w is a sleek looking printer that may look bulky, but uses the same footprint as my inkjet printer it's replacing because of the built-in paper tray. It's the best all-in-one printer in this price range. Only missing duplex printing and wifi support for 802.11ac and 5Ghz networks. I have an AirPort Extreme and was contemplating going the wired Ethernet route for more speed but glad I went wireless. It's just as fast. I used Secure AirPrint for the printer driver and the Canon supplied MF210 driver for the scanner. It's showing as two devices, one printer and one scanner. Make sure you download the scanner driver at Canon USA Support website to enable scanning in Mac OS X. I'm really happy I don't have to use third party printer scanner software to use all the features. Highly recommended.

Just ok

it is bulky but prints quickly canon website is a complete disapointment as the s/w available there doesn't install correctly. I used the CD provided and it worked. overall easy to use, just a bit old technology.

Do not buy

Constant problems with this printer, and always something new. Easy to set up and would be a great printer if it only did what it is supposed to do. Scanner only scans in colour properly, otherwise the image is not transferred properly. You have to install canon software in order to be able to scan and use any other functions other than the printer. Can be a pain with windows 10 since it doesn't have windows 10 drivers yet. And just now is no longer found on the local network even though it is connected to the router wireless/wired. When I check firmware it says it is up to date. Yet no PC on any OS can find it on the network. Have to buy a USB cable to check if I can still use it that way at least. Ancient technology yet canon still cannot get it to work, very disappointing.

Reliable, easy to use machine

This has proven to be a great all-in-one printer. Very easy to install and use, and the wireless printing has given me no issues whatsoever. The only complaint is that the input LCD and keypad do not stay in the outward position when force is applied, which can be very annoying. One can use it in the collapsed/flat position, but that is quite inconvenient. The scanner works great as well. I would certainly recommend this product.

Nice printer

This is a very good monochrome printer. The one limitation that I found is that it does not seem possible to increase the image contrast as I could with my ink jet printer.

  • from Edmonton, AB

Not good printer for PDF government forms

I have to return this printer for the following reasons: 1. Auto detect wireless did not work, I had to spend 30 min to figure out how to install wireless printing manually. 2. Scan pdf files is bigger in size and much worse quality than my very old epson all-in-one printer. 3. I need to print out PDF forms from government website The print out quality was so Bad even with 1200 pdi setting.

Rich features for the price. Only thing missing is automatic double-sided printing. First page time out is excellent. Easy connectivity. and use. Great thing about Canon cartridges, each cartridge has its own drum so you do not have to worry about replacing the drum unit in the future.

I recommend it !

Good printer

Very good printer. easy to setup and connect with WiFi. One shortcoming - do not print on both side to save paper.

By far the best printer I have ever used

I bought this for my spouse on sale as a Christmas gift because the ink cartridges for her newish inkjet printer dried up and I think those things are a total waste of money. It only took me a few minutes to set this printer up. It's a little bulky, but looks really sharp in a home office. The last printer I purchased was an old parallel port-based Okidata LED printer, so perhaps it doesn't take much to impress me, but this printer is fanastic. It has great print quality and is super fast. I deducted one star from the features only because it doesn't have a duplexer for doing easy double-sided printing. So if you have a spouse who is mad at you for not letting her foolishly replenish her inkjet cartridges, do the right thing and replace it with this fantastic laser printer. After she's able to print a couple thousand pages without running out of ink you'll score major points.

Purrs like a kitten

The printer is working seamlessly on my wireless network, and I've had no conflicts with my Mac environment. I'm very impressed with its performance, particularly the speed of printing. The print quality for small type is decent as well, which helps to save paper for proofreading purposes.

Printer is working good only one problem I face that is printing from outer from outside canon should have eprint app for all type of systems like iOS etc. As HP already have

Great value for price on Boxing Day 2015

I am not a computer guru but I set up this wirelessly for my MAC and wired for my PC and they both worked seamlessly. It didn't take long to set either up and it prints a lot faster than my Samsung that is 10 years old. I recommend this printer for sure

easy to operate mf 217w.

I liked this product . Canon mf 217w easy to install & easy to operate.

  • from Edmonton, AB

Good Printer

The printer has good print quality and speed. The one thing that disappointed me was that it does not support duplex printing...

  • from Vancouver, BC

Great for home

The set up is pretty easy although I never got the google cloud print to work as I expected it. You need to install the driver for the printer on each computer which uses it. The touchscreen is a little touchy. Best thing to do is to take the fat end of a pen and use that in place of your finger. The scanner software could be better. It doesn't support double sided scanning. The only way to scan a double sided document into a pdf is to make two separate ones and merge them using third party software.

Very good printer

Bought it over boxing day. Great printing speed and quality. Feeder tray is very easy to scan pages of documents. The printer is also very compact for home use. Very good value!
