  • Good beginners telescope but....

from Toronto, ON on December 12, 2016

I purchased this Celestron 127 SLT during the 2016 Black Friday sale. Given it was my first time buying a telescope the setup was super easy. Using the alignment, however, wasn't the easiest thing but I managed to get it to work after a few tries. My major issue was the it Stopped Working!!! That right, after using it 4 times I got a No Response 16 error message. From my research I found out that it's happens more often in this series from celestron. The only way to fix it is to send the arm and the hand controller back to Celestron for service. A brand new purchase needs to be sent back to the manufacturer? No thanks... I promptly returned it and the crappy Celestron Lens Kit I purchased to a Best Buy store for a refund. I'm now considering getting the Nexstar 5SE instead.

  • Good telesocpe for beginners

from Vancouver, BC on June 23, 2015

I received the 127SLT last week. It's easy to setup. Very solid telescope with good optical lens. We started to explore the Saturn, Jupiter, and the Moon already. I'll try the GoTo feature. Overall I'm happy with the 127SLT.
