- Poor design, No temperature control- February 20, 2017
Cannot regulate temp due to the many permanent holes in the kettle and the rear space in the lid. It just flows air unrestricted, and it cannot be changed. Any temp control by the large vent holes is nominal. This may be OK for those who just warm up food; but, if you really want to GRILL a steak, or char a burger, you will not be able to char the surface of the meat, except where the grill marks are. If you get the grill really hot for a semblance of char, needed for a med/rare steak, the "porcelain" finish comes off. I have used this grill 4 times, and am ordering a new grill grate so I can sell this. No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
- Very Happy!- August 21, 2016
I have 4 grills, 3 charcoal and 1 propane. I also have a large commercial smoker, so obviously I cook a lot. This grill is awesome. Everytime I use it I tell my wife how much I love it. Part of that is so I can buy another one down the road, but that's another story. I mostly use it for cooking steaks, salmon, chicken, burgers, and brats and for that it's perfect. I also put bacon wrapped shrimp directly on the grill. Clean up takes a little longer. I use a scouring pad with dawn and warm water and rinse with a hose. I can clean it while the charcoal is firing up. Other than that, it's a perfect grill.Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
- Best Kettle Grill- July 12, 2018
I've owned mine since 2015 and it's held up well. It stays outside in Indiana year round (covered when not in use) and it's still in good shape, getting ready to replace the grate but that's just normal wear. I would recommend using loctite on the screws on the legs and then be careful not to over tighten them, I did this and mine is still very sturdy. The legs would be better if they had threaded inserts and just bolted on with a 1/4-20 bolt. Other than that the materials are comparable to Weber but the cooking performance is superior for sure. I had a Weber for 30yrs before this grill and while I don't expect this one to last that long, I think with decent care it will last at least 10yrs.Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
