Chrome Pressure Balance Single Lever Shower Faucet

I'm a bit disappointed that the wall shower valve cover plate is plastic, but at least right now you cant tell it from looking at it. I hope it stays as attractive as it is now. The handle, however is metal and has a heavy quality feel to it The actual valve body seems to be solid cast metal with nylon gear/inner valve assembly. As for the adjustable pattern shower spray head, it is plastic as well, but I prefer a hand held shower so I didn't use it. The provided shower arm is a bright chrome finished metal and is high quality.

We really like the looks of this shower control and shower head, we picked it to go well with our new Onyx enclosure. After three months after installation we are having a lot of difficulty getting the valve to shut off the water supply and stop dripping from the head. I had registered this product with Moen, which was supposed to be a help with getting support, however, the website is basically worthless for getting parts or installation information. I tried two browsers and cannot get much past the sign in portion of this site. I am used to better from Moen, which is why we specified their products in our new bathroom!

I bought this faucet 2 months ago, read some of the bad reviews and thought maybe people lacked experience in installing it. I liked the look, the features and the price. However, after two months the faucet started leaking. I did some further research and found that it is indeed common for Cartridge 1222 to go bad. The gaskets on the inside misshape themselves when the water gets too hot. Moen or Danco make a cartridge 1222HD that is completely metal and gets wonderful reviews. I fully expect I will need to replace the replacement in another couple of months and at that time I will purchase the 1222HD. Because I don't want to sweat another faucet into place.

This is the 2nd Adler Moen shower valve I have installed . The first one worked flawlessly for 5 years and was working great when we recently sold the house . Installed this latest one in our master bath replacing an archaic two handle design . It was easy to install and works effortlessly . I have the temp adjuster set so putting the single chrome handle to the 11:00 position gets me close to the temp I want . Turn just a little more towards 10:00 and it is perfect . We are on a well with fairly hard water so will be interesting to see how it holds up but I am expecting it will .
