  • Display failed in less than one year

The display stopped working properly after less than a year. Its hard to now read settings. Beyond this it did seem to work well. I now have to lug the large heavy unit to a repair depot inconveniently located far from work and home. Then i have to go back to pick it up. It has a two year warranty so lets see how repair goes.

  • Works Well But.....

I bought this Danby 70 pint dehumidifier a week ago. It works very well, but it is noisier than advertised, and noisier than other reviewers here have noted. You couldn’t, for example, watch a TV program and have the unit running in the same area such as a basement rec room, unless you cranked the tv volume.

  • Fan never shuts off

The description of the product suggest to you, and the 1-800 experts who answered my question will tell you, that this unit shuts off the fan when the room is dry enough. This is not true - the compressor while shut off but the fan will not . This unit is not for any use except a basement.

  • So far, so good!

I use a dehumidifier for my approx. 1500 sq ft. unfinished basement during the summer. My last dehumidifier lasted several years, which I've found to be typical. After about a month, the new Danby is working very well and deposits a steady trickle of water into the sump. It's by far the quietest dehumidifier I've owned and, unlike some, doesn't sound like it's struggling. The hose connection is on the back and very accessible. Because it was on special at a good price, I bought the 4-year 'Geek Squad' warranty, which got me an even better price, so I'm very pleased knowing that I'm good for at least 4 years!

  • My Replacement De-humidifier

Main reason that I purchased this unit was that I was looking at the biggest size of removable bucket to empty. While not 70pints as it mentioned in the description it is slightly bigger than my old one. One bucket full fills a little more than half of a standard "wash the car" bucket. It is much quieter than my old one so that's a plus. It is new and is working really well. Not sure down the road but I did get the 4 year extended warranty. Wonder if I have to use it if I will have any issues...ha ha.

  • Broke down after 11 months

When the unit is working it’s very good. Mine has broken down and Danby customer service is terrible. It took 2 weeks for them to give me the contact information for my local service depot and now this service depot does not return emails or phone calls. DANBY = GARBAGE

Love this dehumidifier. Easily removed moisture from my basement which includes laundry room, shop, bedroom, and cold storage. Fairly large down there and has no problem s. Runs fairly quiet and easy on the hydro bill. Highly recommend.

Bought this unit to help keep an unfinished basement dry after a series of basement floods. Worked right out of the box. All I do is empty the bucket (pretty easy to do). Does what it said it would do. What more can I say??!!
