More Information

7.2-channel surround sound system

  • With 7 channels, each capable of delivering 75 watts RMS at 8ohms (20Hz-20kHz,THD:0.08%), the AVR-S730W produces clear, enveloping sound that brings movies, sports, and video games to vivid life.
  • Dual subwoofer units give you the option to connect 2 small subwoofers instead of 1 large sub. This produces deeper, smoother, more detailed bass.

4K Ultra HD and 3D video processing

  • Support for 4K Ultra HD video and HDR (High Dynamic Range) video means you can enjoy 4K content at an astonishing resolution of 3840 x 2160. That means detail is clearer and colours are richer, so watching TV will feel like you're looking through a window.
  • Support for 3D video gives you the option of connecting the receiver to a 3D TV. 3D content pops off the screen to bring depth and lifelike visual appeal to your favourite movies and shows.
  • Upscaling improves SD and HD to near 4K Ultra HD; you can even enjoy analog video to HDMI upconversion with 2 component video inputs. This gives you full compatibility with legacy SD and HD devices.
  • The receiver also supports HDCP 2.2 DRM copy protection, 4:4:4 pure colour sub-sampling, BT.2020 pass-through, and a 21:9 aspect ratio. You can have peace of mind that you're covered for the future of 4K and 3D.

Dolby Atmos and DTS:X multidimensional sound

  • Built-in Dolby Atmos processing is your ticket to immersive 3D surround sound, adding next-level precision and overhead channels into the mix, bringing you deeper into the experience.
  • DTS:X, like Dolby Atmos, allows sound designers to place sounds anywhere in a 3D acoustic space, creating a rich, enveloping, multidimensional experience.

Natural high-performance sound

  • Audyssey DSP features include MultEQ room acoustic measurement and correction. During the setup process, MultEQ measures speaker and subwoofer output, then applies correction filters to achieve the most natural tonal balance for your space.
  • Audyssey Dynamic Volume uses advanced DSP processing to provide a wide-band response, even when volume levels are low, producing theatre-calibre clarity for dialog.

Networking and streaming

  • Built-in Wi-Fi lets you connect to your wireless home network and stream content from services such as Spotify and Sirius XM. All of your favourite tunes are a click away, presented in rich, crystal-clear surround sound.
  • Built-in HEOS wireless technology lets you share music stored on your home network, internet radio, or streaming services with HEOS wireless speakers (sold separately) via the free HEOS app.
  • Bluetooth, AirPlay, and DLNA 1.5 compatibility also let you stream content from a range of devices, including smartphones, tablets, and PCs. For added ease, the Denon 2016 AVR Remote App lets you control the receiver with your smartphone or tablet, including Apple or Android devices.
  • AVR Remote app also lets switch instantly to the HEOS App to access control over your music contents and streaming services

Device connectivity

  • 6 HDMI inputs let you connect a full range of HD devices to your home theatre setup, including gaming consoles, cable boxes, Blu-ray players, and media players.
  • Front USB input lets you connect your favourite entertainment sources with plug and play simplicity; it supports MP3 and WMA, ALAC, FLAC and WAV at up to 24-bit/196-kHz, and 2.8/5.6-MHz DSD files from any compatible USB device.

Required accessories (sold separately)

  • Cables you'll need: HDMI (to connect the receiver to your TV) and speaker wire (for connecting the receiver to your speakers)
  • Optional cables: optical or coaxial cables (for digital audio) and RCA cables (for connecting older gear)

Great receiver for the price

This AVR is a great value for the money. It has a lot of features, a breeze to set up with the included microphone (no need to manually configure each speaker) and the included labels for speaker wires and inputs was a nice touch ! It sounds and looks great from every source I've tried (X-Box One X, cable, media player) I did have trouble with HDMI CEC control. Basically all of my components and the AVR were trying to control each other at the same time which meant nothing worked. I turned it off on my devices and the AVR and everything was fine, just means I have to use separate remotes for each component. A good universal remote will be my next purchase to solve this.

Good Value

Great receiver...does everything it promises and sounds great. Auto room EQ works really well. I only wish that the network app players (itunes etc) had some sort of screen saver mode.

HDMI outputs on back did not work

The system worked with the tv and the fm, which did sound great, but did not work with my xbox, blue ray, or dvd on the hdmi ports on the back of the unit. I bought this unit trying to get some quality and simplicity, moving to dolby atmos, but found neither. Perhaps mine was a refurbished unit and thus why it was on sale, who knows. Makes me wonder though. Lots of time spent setting this up, trouble shooting, looking for the manual online, and then contacting Denon support and being told to return the unit to the store because the expert technician said the hdmi ports were not functioning properly. I did not chance it again on an exchange, too much time wasted already. Perhaps it was a lemon? Refurbished? Who knows.Maybe yours will be ok. It had potential but did not deliver for me. On another note, maybe you should just do what I did and grab some good speakers for the computer to play your dvds, music streaming, youtube, netflix etc. Best Buy is still the Best place to shop, no hassle returns if your not happy. Denon, not too sure about their products now as this was the first one I have ever tried from them based on a web review by someone just trying to get you and I to click his links and buy from Amazon. I then went and bought these computer speakers and they rock for 200 bucks Logitech Z623 2.1 Channel Computer Speaker System. Why not? All my music is on the computer, Plus Netflix, Youtube, and computer video games can all be used with the computer speakers. Think twice about spending 2000 dollars on a receiver and speakers, buy a good speaker set for your computer for 200 to 400 instead. Unless you have lots of money and time to burn.....then go for it. 2k, 4k Atmos, and surround yourself to death.

Ease of use

The Unit should have 2 headphone jacks for second set of wireless headphones for company's listening pleasure and not have to use a splt jack unit!

Incredible value

I really like this receiver. The provided mic and step by step walkthrough makes customizing the sound for your room a breeze. That's a huge improvement over the manual setup on my 20 year old Harman Kardon. The various sound modes actually help improve flat sounding audio. It supports a ton of audio and video standards including Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision, so there's a bit more "future proofing" than most receivers in its class. It has properly played every audio format I've thrown at it. I'm a gamer, and imo there's no noticable lag with gaming and the "gaming" sound mode creates a pretty fun and dynamic sound stage. It's loaded with inputs/outputs and includes wifi and Ethernet. The on-screen display looks dated at first but it's actually easy to navigate. The phone app could be better but, again, gets the job done. I can't comment on the remote since I've only used my Harmony Remote, but I can say that it works perfectly with the Harmony system. It also has a feature to boost certain frequencies at low frequencies, which is awesome for parents or late night movie watchers. I'm only 2 weeks into owning this unit but I can honestly say it's greatly improved my TV and movie watching.
