- Incredible value!- October 5, 2017
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As a Child Passenger Safety Technician, I value a safety seat with a straightforward install. As a parent, I value features that make my car seats convenient. Thankfully, this seat offers both! The Evenflo Sonus is a fantastic option for a car seat that will move between cars or used for travel. It's lightweight and could easily be carried onto an airplane for use, and is FAA approved. I installed this seat both rear- and forward-facing and found all installs easily achievable with the LATCH system and with the vehicle seat belt. I was able to get a proper install with less than 1" movement at the belt path in just a couple minutes. The Sonus has a small footprint, meaning it will fit well in even small vehicles. The recline mechanism for rear-facing is easy to engage and disengage, so it isn't difficult to change the seat's orientation from rear-facing to forward-facing. I am also very impressed with the high end features of this seat, especially for it's reasonable price point. There are two cup holders, expertly designed to allow a variety of cup sizes without making the car seat wider. There are buckle holders to keep the harness out of the way when you're putting a child in the seat, so you don't have to dig buckles out from under your child. The cover is plush and looks quite sturdy, where other seats in this price range tend to have simpler covers with less cushion. Overall, I am extremely happy with the Sonus. It has features that are great for travel and also every day use. It is easy to install and use. It's rear-facing limits (of 40" or 40 lbs) will allow most kids to remain rear-facing for around 3 years, which is excellent. It also has high top slots, so it should last a good while forward facing, as well. My 4 year old has one harness slot to go, and based on average torso growth, I anticipate that she will still fit in the seat for about two more years. I haven't gotten to try my almost 7 year old in it yet, but it might even possibly fit her still, as well.Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
- Great value!- March 12, 2018
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Pros: Light weight, flexible cup holders, smooth fabric, doesn’t take up much space. Cons: Belt buckle is hard to use with one hand, little stiff. Wish the base would harness with the seat belt style clips. Overall this is a great car seat for your value. Easy to move from car to car. Picture shows strap covers, doesn’t come with them, wish that the car seat came with them.Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

- SAFETY at its finest!!- May 1, 2015
We have purchased 3 of these seats. 1 for each vehicle and recently one to replace ours that was in an accident. My son is 2.5 and was driving with my mom when they were t-boned on his side of the car. My mom ended up with bad whiplash and brushing and my son didn't end up with even a scratch!! The car seat kept him safe. He medics and firefighters praised the good installation and safety of the seat itself. It's super easy to install from vehicle to vehicle. We wouldnt consider any other brand after being through this ordeal because the safety of my children is the most important thing and we feel safe every time they're buckled in!!Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
- Solid affordable seat- March 29, 2018
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Evenflo sent us this car seat to review. We've got four kids, ages 2 to 10. The youngest we flipped not too long ago from rear to forward facing in his convertible seat. I've seen a fair number of car seats in the last ten years. The Sonus is a solid, affordable convertible seat. It is a bit on the big size and the buckles and straps aren't my favorite. But at it's price point it definitely does it's main job--keep you child safely in their seat--well. My 2 year old fit in it rear facing. He's 33" tall. It didn't cause him any major problems. My 4 years old had trouble figuring out what to do with his legs rear facing. He's 38" tall. Forward facing it fit him fine. I didn't do any measuring, but it was definitely bigger than our current convertible seat. I wouldn't reach for this one for a small car or trying to fit three across. It was fairly light, which was nice when installing it. It has cup holders in it, which was clever. They are an open construction with an elastic strap to keep the cup in place. You can't store anything in them (cup holders in car seats hold toys more often than drinks!) but I think that's on purpose because you are not supposed to use them when rear facing. The chest strap was tough to open. That might be a benefit to keep your child from unbuckling, but I prefer something easier. The latch connectors require you to loosen the belt to uninstall the seat. Not a huge problem, but there are better connectors out there. Both of these comments are pretty minor based upon having used lots of different car seats. You probably won't notice if you don't have another seat to compare against. So, at it's price point, this is a great car seat. More expensive seats can be smaller and have better connectors and buckles, but those are pretty little differences. We're happy with the seats we have, so we aren't going to be replacing any of them with this one. Instead, we are donating it to a family crisis charity and I feel quite confident it is going to be well used and appreciated there.
