I had 2 of these in a row. The first one would not charge, even after 3 days in the sun. It gradually wore down to 1 bar and would not charge past that. I replaced it with a second and the antenna fell out on the first day at camp. Certainly not "TUF"

I purchased this after looking and Googling around. This is for emergency use and it does all I wanted. The casing is some synthetic rubber material completely sealing the radio it is also water resistant, there is not one screw apparent. The little solar panel appears to be of good quality it charges even under the cloudy Vancouver winter sky. The radio actually uses less energy than the solar produces. The crank charges the battery from completely discharged to fully charged in less than 20 min.The crank is solid in the hand. I love that it can recharge small electronics it only produce 5V so it won't recharge your car battery but in an emergency I would be glad to keep my cell phone alive with this little unit. (cell batteries are usually 7V so they will never be fully charged with a 5V generator). The LED is bright and consume little electricity. There is even a little 'handle' on the opposite side to hang it in your shelter. I wanted a NOAA channel and I am happy with the AM/FM/WX radio and the PLL tuner. I get signals from our underground garage! It will easily last 8hr for radio using earbuds but if you are driving the speaker the battery will last about half of that. Ducky

Freeplay Tuff Solar& Crank radio

Works great for me, love the weather band. The only downside is that when you charge a phone or tablet you have to crank for it to charge. Put in a feature where it will charge them from the battery or the solar panel.

So Far So Good

Bought for use in camper. Only criticism, not as sensitive as I would like. For a specific use, a reasonable buy

not a good buy

The things I liked about this radio was that it was light and compact. I could tell what station I was listening to. I wish that I could hear the stations. They did not come in clear. The charge didn't last long even when I hooked it up to my computer to charge. I do not recommend this product

Great product

Works great, I can't wait to go in vacations for camping and use it. The solar recharge is easy and work well. I was suprised because I didn't understand it looks like a small bottle of water for the size. Suggestion : use it on bike with Handler bottle cage, 3 tie rap, this is almost perfect.

Ready aye Ready

I have to say that I think this is an excellent product. The compact size gives you this idea that it couldn't possibly do everything it does. The battery charges quickly and definitely holds its charge. the crank works well, and you don't have the feeling that it will snap off, like some other crank devices. I'm impressed.

Emergency Radio

I was looking for a rechargeble radio and this one you are supposed to recharge by solar, crank or mini USB cable. The only one that works is the crank. Have had it sitting in the window for days and nothing. Same with plugging it in for hours. We don't have a Best Buy in this town to go and ask for help. [...]

Great portable radio

Works great, easy to charge&recharge, sounds good, only wish the atenae was a tad longer for clearer stations. We are using it for pool side radio and are very happy with our purchase.

Beyond amazing

Recently I purchased the Freeplay Tuf radio and find myself impressed with reception on all bands. I was surprised to hear stations from over 180 miles away during the day on am. FM coverage is also good with weaker stations from the otherside of the boarder coming in quite well. The same holds true for the wxband. The flashlight works well and is extremely bright. I also am impressed with the duration of the battery pack as well. Cranking the radio for a couple of minutes gives you quite a long time of listening pleasure. This is an awsome radio.

This is one super item to have in our home - now. Having just experienced an ice storm, we wished we'd had this for light, for radio and for connectrion to the outside world by phone. Every home should have one!! Also, it's light weight so will be practical for transporting.
