It's too USA-centric. It got really frustrating to use the first few times, giving me mostly US address options, until I got it to realize I am in Canada. Even then, it still seems to have trouble sorting out local roads from US roads, especially rural roads. Haven't had time to explore all its options yet.

  • So far, (mostly) so good

This is my first non-cellphone GPS, so I wasn't sure what to expect really. Here are my thoughts after a week of use. The device has rebooted once during a trip, erasing that trip and leaving me with no direction on my route. Since I was on the highway, I couldn't do anything about it until I found a safe place to stop. Voice activation set up was frustrating to the point that I gave up. Apparently my three's sound like two's and so do my sixes. I mean, come on. I have never had an issue with mixing these words in day to day life, or with other voice activated systems. Occasionally it has been hard to find a specific location, and it even refused to find my home address even though I gave it the postal code. Finally, I found one instruction ambiguous, and almost missed a turn. I wish the power cable was longer so that I could route the cable more inconspicuously. So that's the bad. Now the good. The screen is nice and big, very bright, and the audio prompts are loud enough. The warnings are well timed (school zones, speed limit changes etc), and are helpful. Speed limits appearing on screen in particular are very useful where I live - there's definitely a shortage of speed limit signage here! There's little to no lag on the screen in terms of where I am. The 3D view is much better while driving than the 2D views. Recalculating a route when I decide to take a different road is very quick and accurate. Overall, I'm very impressed with the amount of information on screen, the usefulness of it, and the general operation. I keep it plugged in so that it records all my journeys. I like seeing where I've been. I bought this for occasional longer journeys, and don't really need it on a regular basis. It'll be a while before I figure out whether it was worth getting, but so far I'm happy with it, and I think it will prove its worth over time.
