- Expensive but worth it- July 4, 2020
I bought this for my brother who will be the race director in one of new race Added for Asia trail master in our hometown in Philippines.. He told me it’s really helpful for him to track the elevation while planning the route for the race... he also use this for his races he participated in Hong-Kong and Thailand.. it’s a big help for him to keep on track the route he needs to take so he will not get lost... he’s most complains with his old watch before that after 4 hrs the battery will die down in gps mode..but this one the battery life is very long and it really suits him coz he only participate in Races that’s not less than 100 miles..

If you’re looking for a “smart watch” packed with all the relevant tech, that actually looks like a cool, rugged watch (unlike apple watches) then the Garmin Fēnix is your huckleberry. The Pro Edition gives me all I need for a watch to do... and as for battery life... twenty-something days on a full charge makes you question why there is a solar version at all. Wide array of straps and app-fed watch face options means you can have a different looking watch every day of the week. The functions are simple and well laid-out. Tons of cool apps and online tutorials to turn your wrist into a superhero’s side-kick. Sorry Apple, masculinity is not dead yet.

The biggest issue I have with this unit is the heart rate sensor simply doesn't seem to work with darker skin tones. Coming from a polar oh1 its there a noticable difference in accuracy. I had workouts where my heart rate on the polar oh1 is reading 150-160bpm and Fenix 6x is reading 98-102 bpms. When looking at 4 hours of medium high intensity workout in Garmins software I never once aligned with the polar. I'm thinking A this hasn't been tested with darker skin or I got a dud. I spoke with garmin it will take a month for them to ship a new one. I will exchange this unit and if the replacement also performs better i will update this review to 5 stars.
