I just purchased this product and I tried to connect as per instruction but it just did not work. I tried numerous times without success. I had to bring back
- Chromecast Ultra
from New Brunswick on October 30, 2019
Have the original Chromecast. Wanted a 2nd so upgraded to ultra. Up an running & connected to my Google home in 2 minutes. 4K is good on a 4K TV. But am I actually noticing the difference? Not necessarily BUT I experience some lagging on the original Chromecast and I don't on the ultra so that in itself makes it worth it.
- Only works when it feels like working
from Montreal on July 23, 2019
Don't get this thing, save yourself the aggravation. Absolutely enraging. It's mere metres from our router, we have fine internet connection, but the moment we try to stream Chromecast just does whatever it wants, which is typically nothing. When it does finally work, half our devices can't change the volume. The Google Home app on the phone (latest iPhone and Android) doesn't feel like connecting most of the time, or behaves differently from one use to the next. We should never have gotten rid of our original Chromecast. The worst. I repeat: Don't get this thing, save yourself the aggravation.
- waste of money

I was expecting this to work without a lot of tech knowledge but when I searched troubleshooting that was not the case.
- No sound after only two months
from Alberta on April 22, 2019
The sound stopped working after owning it for 2 months. As it is used for watching videos and listening to music, this makes it essentially useless. Unless you know at least one deaf person, I don't recommend this.
- Great video but NO Surround Sound of anykind
from Milton, ON on January 17, 2019
Will pass only 2.1 audio. For casting a movie or show no problem but only in stereo.
- Missed Opportunity With 'Ultra'
from Whitby, ON on July 14, 2018
Google could have nailed it with the Ultra, if they had only included a 3.5mm jack. This iteration of this product should have consolidated the Chromecast Audio feature with the original Chromecast. I want a portable casting device that can plug into a TV via HDMI, but I should also be able to plug this into an 3.5mm audio device such as a portable speaker when a HDTV or HD Receiver are not available. What's the point if I have to buy a separate Chromecast Audio anyway? Missed opportunity Google - I wouldn't consider this 'Ultra'. Long live the 3.5mm standard!
- Works as advertised
from BRANDON, MB on July 3, 2018
This gadget is basically "plug'n play". The pairing process with my Google Home Mini via my Android tablet was very easy. The picture quality is perfect (for my standards - it runs on my older 42" 1080p TV) and response time is very quick....Love it.
- Very good
from Edmonton, AB on December 22, 2017
Since I got this (August 2017), never had problem with it. I have cable but don't use it anymore. The kids love it and keep watching their favorite movies through this Chromecast Ultra. The pictures ares great as cable pictures
- Great product works well and it's extremely fast
from QC on November 29, 2017
This is an awesome product and works well with most if not all chromecast apps. Purchased it to replace my Chromecast because I wanted to use an ethernet connection instead of wifi the it's faster than the chromecast 2015 the 4k resolution and hdr are nice extras.
