Unfortunately, I currently have a wireless Honeywell thermostat and have no wiring going to my furnace. Will be returning.

you need a 'C' 24 volt common but that's the only down side.

This Thermostat requires 24 volts from the furnace. You need 5 wires in order to correctly install this Thermostat from the wall.

Even if you don't have C wire, it could be attached to other 12 v (in my case cooling wire...I don't use it). Reliable, (few hiccups) convenient mobile app/web page. Internet connection mandatory. Using it for the last 2 yrs. Compatible with Stringify, IFTT, Smartthings... Will recommend...
- Not a good product!!!!

1. At least 1 hour waiting customer support time everytime you have a problem; 2. Very frequently loss connection remotely to your devices, very very no updating info on your app; 3. The time showing on your app is not your local time; 4. The stupid C wire connecting requirement;

This is a great thermostat for the money. The only problem I encountered was during installation. The instructions state that the wall mount plate should be removed from the thermostat by pulling it off with your fingers. Using the method they outline, you will likely almost break the mounting plate. In my case, it was VERY firmly attached to the wiring harness pins...I mean FIRMLY!! I called Honeywell and the idiot I spoke to had no clue and told me to RMA the item. I then looked on YouTube and found a video where the problem was solved by pushing a slot screwdriver between the plate and the thermostat and gently prying the plate off. That worked perfectly. I now use the same method to remove the thermostat from the wall plate now that it is mounted. Once installed, it works beautifully -- really nice WIFI implementation and good iPhone app. Best to use your computer to set up the WIFI, not your phone. One more thing. If you have a heat pump with 2 outside temp sensor wires, this thermostat seems to work fine with those left unconnected. There is no way to connect them so I really didn't have a choice. I found some advice online suggesting those connections are not absolutely necessary, and that appears to be the case for my American Standard Heritage 14 heat pump. I'm going to double check with a tech at some point to make sure that isn't going to cause an issue down the road.

I have both the touch screen Honeywell tstat and this one with the buttons. I prefer this one as the touch screen doesn't always respond to a touch first time and this is easier to read and control temperatures. The screen does go dim after a timeout but pushing any button brightens it up. Changing the temp is easy with the up down buttons and turning the fan off/on is the same. I have one of these at a remote property to control the furnace so I can warm it up when I plan to go there and monitor the temp whenever I want to. I use a Bell Mifi device to provide internet. This device uses about 600 mb of data per month. Honeywell has no idea of data usage. Setup is easy IF you have a C wire and know what it means. I also installed this on an old furnace at my house and had to 'make' my own C from the other side of the 24vac transformer. No big deal either - if you know what you need. Obviously if power goes out, the thermostat has no comms (or control) but it retains its memory and comes back to life when power returns. I love the Honeywell app but it could be improved - 1). Occasionally the fan shows running when it is not; 2) it would be nice to schedule the fan operation (this would be software in the Tstat) and 3) it would be nice to have furnace run hours. The low and high temperature alarms work well too. I have 5 thermostats on the one app on my phone. Nice to be able to have multiple tstats in one app - all in different locations too..

I bought this unit on sale after having considered some other popular and more expensive Wifi thermostats. I have always had Honeywell thermostats and am extremely happy with this one. So far it has been rock-solid. It does everything I need it to do and controls temperature precisely to within 1/2 degree C. Installation and setup was quite straightforward and was made even easier by watching the online installation videos. Note that you will need a 'C' wire to complete the installation; in my case I had a spare wire at the wall that I could use for a C. The web user interface is very intuitive and easy to use. I also installed the Android app and it works great also. Installation tip: be sure to have everything ready at hand to connect to your Wifi before initially powering up the thermostat (MAC ID, Wifi password, etc.) as the app times-out after 10 minutes of inactivity and then you need to reset it.

I was originally considering more popular expensive thermostats but could not justify the cost. This unit does everything I need and so far has worked flawlessly. Installation was very straightforward and was made even easier by the online videos. Fortunately I already had a spare wire to use as a C wire and that worked well. The user interface for online monitoring and control is excellent and very intuitive. I tested the low-Temp Alert feature overnight and it works perfectly. Tip: After installation, once you power the unit up you have 10 minutes to complete the wi-fi setup before it times-out due to inactivity, then you have to reset the thermostat. This wasn't really a huge problem but it helps to have everything ready in advance. Highly recommend this product.
