Extremely disappointing product!!!

I purchased this product based on benchmark scores which show that the AMD E2-9000e processor performs better than the Intel celeron N3050 and Intel celeron N3060 processors. This proved disappointingly wrong. The E2-9000e performs horribly and it is not overclocked at all in anyway, at least not by me the end user. It gets hot. It is unstable. It is unreliable. It lags excessively. Applications crash or generate error messages more often. I tried the Intel celeron N3050 and N3060 processors with exactly the same tasks and they perform perfectly smoothly with no lagging or any performance issues at all. Even when the celeron N3050 and N3060 are clocking at 100%, they still run brilliantly smoothly with multi-tasking or changing tasks. The E2-9000e does not run smoothly even when running a single task and the processor is well below 100% processor clock speed. The E2-9000e has a benchmark score of about 1,300+ while the celeron N30xx processors have the benchmark scores within the 800+ range, which is below 900. Despite that, the celeron processors are more stable and more reliable.

can you give it a ZERO?

Problems with the processor and speed right from the start. Motherboard issue crapped out the charger after five months, then because I added Geek Squad I am now paying more than this is worth (warranty and GS membership). Poor performance and multiple tune ups in first six months that actually make it worse now actually (mouse lags now on any webpage...disabling bitdefender doesnt fix it either). It takes longer to load than a laptop I had more than 8 years ago and is on its last legs, and uses up most of the memory opening one tab of hotmail. I think there are specific issues with the laptop too, but overall it is not worth the money and should not be sold at Best Buy as it is a 2015 computer that does not meet minimum standards for internet browsing in 2017/18. And that is just internet basic webpages and the ads on those pages. It does open word processor programs ok and has tonnes of storage. Ultimately it needs a memory and a processor upgrade just to meet minimums...and seems to run Windows 10 ok (even though it probably shouldnt).

Celerons are better supported

Due to poor driver support, this processor, AMD E2-9000e is super slow. Not worth the money. Go for a intel laptop instead.

Works for school

I bought this laptop as something cheap to take to school and it works fine for that. While it is no where near as fast or powerful as my gaming PC I have at home, I am able to write papers and make projects on it. It is not ideal for gaming but I do use it for Netflix and youtube along with school work.

not bad

Lots of people are complaining about this machine but it a windows machine which runs the same programs as the more expensive ones. Maybe not so good for games I don"t know but for looking around the internet it is fine and it runs cool too. I don"t know about its reliability but so far it is a perfectly acceptable computer. Considering that it is half the price or less of higher end systems it is not bad

I love it

It’s very good and it has a lot of storage it’s a bit slow but it’s worth it’s price

  • from Nepean, ON

Not bad

Its very good for something that is it's price, cuz something that is 350 dollars isnt gonna be fast like a gaming pc.

  • from Scarborough, ON

SLOW! Do not buy! Not worth the savings.

I was duped into buying this laptop by the low cost and "sale" but don't fall for it like I did. The processor is a celeron speed AMD chip which crawls even when doing basic windows functions. It's so slow that it's unusable. DO NOT BUY!!!

Not recommended

The desktop screen takes forever to load after signing in,struggles to open and run any WIndows app, struggles even more to install and run other apps, freezes constantly perhaps not built for Windows 10. At this level motherboard could soon die, hence may not be worthwhile even at its current low price. Will be certainly returning it.

Super slow out of the box

Go this laptop for my mom. She only needs it for browsing. However, the computer is really slow out of the box. I had to install a fresh copy of windows 10 to make it works well. However, programs still open quite slow for a laptop with a fresh install of windows. So i decided to return it. I would spend more on a faster laptop. This laptop can't even play 1080p youtube videos...

It’s all about value

I see many critical posts, but rating any product has to be relative to it’s value. You can’t complain that a brand new Honda CIvic isn’t nearly as fast as your 10-year old Porsche 911 Turbo ... that just doesn’t make any sense. However, the CIvic will still take you to school, work, grocery shopping and basically 95% of your regular needs, at a fraction of the price of the Porsche. So, that’s the analogy for this laptop.

Don't Buy an HP Laptop!!

WHATEVER YOU DO DON'T BUY AN HP LAPTOP! My son saved up his money and bought an HP laptop in January but he's hardly been able to use it because the hard drive has crashed twice so we had to send it back to HP and now there is something else wrong with it so I'm going to have to call HP again and waste another 2 hours on the phone with them figuring out the issue and have to send it back to them AGAIN!!

If you hate someone, buy them this laptop

Title says it all. My ten, yes, TEN year old mac is 100x faster than this out of the box.

  • from Calgary, AB

This computer is VERY slow, restarts on it's own and has a very pathetic battery life. (2hrs MAX while unplugged, and has to constantly be plugged in to recharge) Save your money and buy a better laptop, heck, buy a full blown computer!!

  • from Toronto, ON

doesn't work at all!!

I bought this laptop and the micro processor does not support windows 10. it freezes over and goes desperately slow. I would take it out of the market.

Getting what you pay for

Sometimes, getting what you pay for is not a bad thing. I am not a gamer, so getting a PC that is faster than instant coffee is not for me. I am old enough to have used pre pentium machines, so I know slow. For all the usual purposes, surfing the net, running word and spreadsheet apps, even Skype, this machine is more than adequate. For 330 bucks it is way more than just adequate. You can say this on Facebook, because Facebook works just fine on this PC

You're better off with a pencil and paper than this crap

I'm a student. This laptop is heavy, considering you will be carrying it around everywhere. The computer worked fine for a week, and then would freeze after doing more than one task at once. Or even just YouTube open. Don't waste your money, get something f better.

You get what you paid for. Really cheap, real slow...

  • from Toronto, ON

Good for the Price

Its obviously going to be slow as it's not the most expensive laptop out there. But for the price point it works effectively. Good for school use.

Piece of shit

Can't get through startup

this laptop takes over 100 seconds to start up, and during Windows setup process keeps stalling at the OneDrive screen. I've tried multiple times, with multiple options (ie. set up PIN, don't set up PIN) but can't progress beyond One Drive screen. There is another with the same issue on the HP support forum with no solutions. Laptop will go back tomorrow - total dud.

  • from Toronto, ON

Surprisingly good for what it costs

For a low-end laptop, this has a decent screen, not a bad keyboard, a reasonable amount of storage space, and a CPU/GPU that isn't anywhere as slow as I expected. Build quality is decent and it's not filled with a lot of bloatware.

this laptop doesnt work

  • from Toronto, ON

I haven't had the laptop for a full month yet and on the second day it starts to slow down. I don't use it so much that it should be slow or not turn on when I press the on button. It is really not a high quality laptop. Doesn't seem reliable. I feel like I bought a used/broken laptop.

  • from Markham

waste of MONEY !! I don't even know why would HP makes such product.

warning!! you buy this laptop you are throwing your money into the garbage intentionally. that's all I have to say just don't bother looking at this laptop or buying it
