A Year Full of Disappointment

This laptop which was advertised as being great for surfing the web fails to deliver. Its AMD processor is incredibly slow struggling to even open web browsers, load web pages, open email, and navigating the OS. Its battery barely lasts more than a few hours and can nearly be fully drained within the span of an hour and a half, leaving me to keeping it plugged in at nearly all times during class. I tried to design a basic website on this laptop for class, but after filling the website with text and pictures, the website was unable to load on my laptop. This forced me to use a school computer from Dell in class which was able to breeze through this task. Moving on, the webcam on this laptop is practically unusable forcing me to use a 10-year-old Microsoft LifeCam which delivers video quality that is light years superior to this one. Its display although not bad, is still among one of the worst ones that can found in any modern laptop. Next, I can hear tiny broken particles of plastic shaking around in this laptop while carrying it around. My friend who has the same laptop said that he experiences the exact same issue! Another friend of mine who also has the same laptop model said that half of his keyboard suddenly stopped working and days later I had the same exact issue happen to me. A few months later this same friend told me that his laptop screen stopped working and would blur until fully white. Yet again, the exact same thing happened to me days later. The screen would start to display weird colours and would slowly fade until it was all fully white. This issue could last anywhere from 1-15 minutes repeating every few hours. Thankfully both times HP fixed the issue under their 1-year manufacturer warranty. I even saw another customer getting the exact same laptop fixed at Best Buy while I was simultaneously sending mine in for repair. After HP returned the laptop repaired, a protective piece of rubber on the lid and one of the rubber feet were both missing. Also, for some reason beyond me, the only way to remove the bottom panel to clean the inside of this laptop (or in my case to remove tiny broken bits of plastic) is to remove the rubber feet and unscrew hidden screws under them. To put them back on you have to re-glue the rubber feet with your own adhesive! To top it all off, one of the three USB ports is unstable as constantly disconnects and reconnects any devices plugged into it. I have also experienced problems with the Windows OS itself. Apart, from the slow experience due to this laptops speed, it took two months to install the April 2018 update! Once the update downloaded the computer would shut down as normal, but after it finished installing, the computer would revert back to the old version of the OS. Finally, after multiple attempts over two months, the update installed and I could finally use the latest version of Windows. All in all, after over a year of use with this laptop I can confidently say that it was money not well spent and I will likely have to replace it sometime in the near future. Windows overall is a great OS, but when paired with a laptop from HP such as this one, the experience is all but pleasant.

Unfortunate Circumstances

Got this laptop a bit ago, but it kept randomly restarting as I was working. It also seemed to be overheating as the fan was frequently blowing and the laptop got hot. Tried to replace it with a new one, but not even two weeks later this one was malfunctioning as well! Whenever it was turned on, it would show the HP logo, load, and then shut down. It was also rather slow loading once turned on. Very disappointing and frustrating.
