Garbage product and even worse service from HP

Purchased computer for my son starting first year engineering. 2 weeks after purchase the fan started making a strange sound and the computer completely shut down. After a couple of hours searching and sitting on hold with HP we started the warranty return process. I shipped the computer to them and they said I should receive it back by Oct 19. Spent another hour on the phone with HP yesterday and they said they haven't been able to fix the computer because of a parts shortage and could not give me an eta on when it would be fixed. I told them their inability to properly manage inventory was not my problem and they should send me a new computer. Lots of pre-rehearsed answers followed. I am now going to have to purchase a second computer for my son so he can complete his assignments for school. I wonder if his professors would accept his assignments late because there was a shortage of parts to fix the computer? DO NOT BUY FROM HP - customer service is terrible. Think twice about buying from Best Buy. You might do better in the after sales service if you buy directly from the manufacturer and you have someone on the sales side helping you with your returns

Not very impressed

I've had the laptop for about a month now and initially it had run okay, but the more I use it the more frustrated I am with it. If your planning on using it for any programs that need more ram this is not the laptop for you (Ex: Gaming, producing, programming) etc. Its been freezing pretty frequently doing basic tasks like watching HQ YouTube videos. The touch screen is a nice touch, however it is rarely used. Its faster to just use the mouse. Id love to return the item and purchase something better but wasn't able to tell how good the laptop was within the 14 day return policy. Nice laptop, just not for me.

Only had it for 2 weeks and it keeps locking up, slow startup etc... I have an Acer with 2gb of Ram that runs faster than this and that Acer is 8 years old. I will be returning this. Garbage. Don't waste your money!!!

I bought this awesome laptop around a month ago and its perfect for my use. I'm a high school student so I use this for Microsoft Office, Internet browsing, and playing some games. Tbh I was really shocked at first about how well it performs in League of Legends. I get around 120 fps in a game. I'd recommend.

I MADE THREE RETURNS! This HP product has a huge software problem! Don't buy it!

Very good laptop

Slim and light for a 15 inch laptop, Windows 10 runs smoothly once you get past the initial setup and let it finish downloading/installing the latest Microsoft updates which can take a bit of time depending on the speed of your internet connection. I disabled Windows search/indexing and uninstalled the usual bloatware that comes pre-installed and which I don't need. Performance-wise it's got a better faster processor than my desktop and the fan has been surprisingly quiet and laptop stays cool compared to some older laptops. Very pleased with it so far.

Great little laptop

This thing is perfect for what I need. I am not a hard core gamer or anything I just needed a nice, fast little laptop for my day to day needs and I am very happy with it. The thing talks to you which is kind of neat and the speakers are much better than I was expecting on a laptop.

School Use

I purchased this Laptop for school in late August. I really like it, it is quick, easy to navigate, but a big in size so it does take up quite a bit of space. Also, after purchasing it, within the first two weeks, after I logged in, the home page would turn black. I contacted HP for this issue, and they said they received the same complaint many times, and it was actually because a of a faulty update by Microsoft. They thankfully were able to resolve the issue, and the laptop is fine now. I would recommend this touch screen laptop for school, it is great !

Very pleased with this laptop - a writers dream!

I had a laptop years ago when they first came out. I swore I'd never buy one again. They've come a long way since then and I love this HP. I need a computer for minute taking and banking etc, but primarily it is being used for my writing. Perhaps this one will hold the novel I have been working on. The laptop is light, the keyboard is a decent size, and the screen is sharp and wide enough to work on without having to lean in to see what you are doing. That matters when you have been working on it for several hours and eyes get bleary. The battery holds a charge for a reasonable length of time and it recharges quickly. This may sound odd to some, but when this writer is on a tear, she often writes well into the wee hours of the night. Dependability is crucial.

Very slow, frequently frezes, shuts down, noisy fan, very Bad product

I hate it. I though HP product never wrong but this machine is very poorly design. I need to return it but it is more than 30 days, don't know what to do. I some times I feel like through to the garbage.

Good Work Horse

Good work horse if you're not doing any design work, Photoshop or Illustrator. I recommend it for everyday Office use.

Noisy fans and frequent shutdown

I purchased two of this laptop for my office. After installing Windows and Office, I found one is too noisy with its fans and the other frequently shuts down. I went back to Best Buy, and changed. Same problems with the new ones. Now I have to refund them. Bad products.

good for students

This laptop is pretty good though its a bit too big. The fan gets kinda loud sometimes but not something too bothering. Also, it sometimes freezes but other than that it is pretty fast. Happy with the purchase overall.

This is a great laptop for Home usage

I bought this laptop a week ago. It is a great product for someone who wants to use it to watch movies, stream Netflix, listening to the music, browsing the web, playing with google earth, use MS office, and basically all you need to do with a laptop at home. But first of all remember: 1- This is not a portable designed laptop (15.6" display with about 2 kg wait) don't expect to be comfortable if you want to take it out every day with you 2- This is not a gaming laptop (you do not have any dedicated specific memory (RAM) on graphics card and the graphic card is using the installed memory) but if you want to do gaming (rendering a lot of 3d games with texture) add 8 more gigabytes of DDR4 memory to the 2nd slot. This would be also a good plan if you want to run simulations with MATLAB or CAD tools that need lots of processing with memory. 3- This is also not a professional laptop (Windows Home), so if you want to run simulations (3D simulations or maybe huge computation) or connect it to 2 or 3 monitors etc. this is not going to be a good choice as you need a business laptop and a dock Besides all that I said this laptop with 8GB DDR4 memory, Core-i5 dual core 2.5GHz CPU with Turbo boost, 1 GB hard drive (even if it is not SSD or 7200 rpm) is perfect. I also recommend to buy an external DVD-R drive for it and make sure it is compatible with USB 3 to use maximum speed of your USB 3.1 ports on the left. One of the greatest thins of this laptop is that it is using Bluetooth 4.1 which is low power Bluetooth standard and it can communicated much faster and more efficient with all devices that support Bluetooth 4. Also if you want to connect it to an external monitor buy a HDMI to DVI cable or adaptor and then you are good to go.

hurts your wrists like crazy

I didnt get to fully use this laptop because after a half hour of trying to type on it, my wrists are killing me. There is a lip around the edge of the laptop that feels like cheap plastic and kinda has a space in it and when you have your hands on your laptop to type it rubs the edge on your wrists over and over. After half our and red wrists/forearms I took it back.

good laptop

I bought this laptop for university and honestly was a little uneasy about having a touchscreen laptop (because I don't really see the use of having this feature). Nonetheless, I decided to give it a try because it was also on sale and it has been working well so far! It is very light and easy to carry and it has a very sleek design. The fan is not loud and the laptop itself doesn't overheat very quickly (a problem I had with my last laptop). So far, so good! Hope the quality lasts. Thanks BestBuy :)

great computer

does everything fast and reliable great buy at the price

Great buy for the price

I needed to upgrade from my previous laptop due to software requirements and I really enjoy this new laptop. The screen is smaller than my previous one (by my own choice) but what it lacks in size it makes up for in power. This laptop is very quiet and performs very well compared to other laptops of comparable specifications. I would highly recommend this laptop to anyone needing to multi-task. However if you are looking for a laptop for gaming or that has superior sound quality I would suggest looking at a more upper end, gaming oriented, device.

very nice

Great specs in a great package!

This is a very fast computer, capable of handling some demanding software (I use Photoshop and Lightroom a lot). It's light, feels sturdy, the monitor doesn't wobble, keyboard is really nice. I love it. However, it's not without issues. There are only a couple of details that prevent me from giving it 5 stars. The first one is that it does hurt the fat of my palm, near the wrist when using the touchpad and my wrists when typing, but so every laptop I've owned, although this one does leave a deeper mark on my skin. The second one is that I would have liked the Num lock key to have a tiny light so I would know when it's enabled or disabled. Other than that, I can't find anything really bad about this laptop. It's worth it with the deal they have on it right now.

  • from Hamilton,ON

Great laptop

It's a fast and sturdy laptop able to get simple jobs done while it's not able to handle certain games..call of duty ,gta it's great for on the move school and entertainment The speaker could be worked on but most people I know would use headphones and or other brand speakers (ihome etc) Great laptop get it before the sale ends!

Best Computer Ever

I love this computer so much. Best thing I bought. Never regret at all.

So fast for daily use

  • from Edmonton, AB

I regret everyday...

The sound speakers are terrible. The finish is of bad quality and I my wrists are scratched because of the junction between the black and the silver parts. The cooling fan is too loud, and it gets worst with the low quality speakers. I regret everyday...
