Poor HDD

I had to return this laptop twice because it was making a clicking noise. I know alot about computers, so i immediately knew the sound was coming from the hard drive. When the hard drive arm finds a bad sector while trying to read the data, it will "jump" resulting in a clicking sound. I think HP (and other brands) are cheaping out on the hard drives they are using. If people arent privvy to this stuff they will buy these laptops and not even realize they are wasting their money because the most important part of the laptop is in poor condition, and its only a matter of time before the hard drive fails entirely.

Great computer

Received this as a gift from my husband about a month ago. I absolutely love it, it is very fast, excellent start up, the big screen is awesome, sound is great, it serves all my needs I want from a laptop and than some. Only down fall is the battery life. Otherwise perfect laptop.

Definitely an Upgrade

Recently purchased this laptop because my old Toshiba just wasn't working quite right anymore. I had the Toshiba for roughly 6-7 years and served quite well but as more programs and information was loaded on to it, it slowed right down and couldn't even load Google at times even with updates and deleting unwanted information. The keyboard was broken and the screen hinges were broken so the screen would wobble so i just new it was time to get a new one. I research countless HOURS for a new laptop. I didn't know what to buy, i wanted something faster than my old one but not too expensive but wanted also to have something that was close to what i had before. I found this one and liked all the features it had plus the speed it had. I also was based it off the reviews to determine if it was an okay laptop to purchase. I decided to make the move and purchase the laptop on sale. I didn't get the Microsoft program because i found it cheaper elsewhere. When i got it home, i opened it up and the laptop seemed very decent in size and liked the size of the unit itself. After setting it up and going through all the prompts it seemed like a very good laptop. However there are some advantages and disadvantages which i will list a few in case you are looking at this laptop. Advantages: - The screen size is fabulous, you are able to see (most) websites without having to change the resolution (but bigger screen = bigger computer which also means more bulky.) - Speed! For the price i would hope it is fast. Using it for a week and a half and speed is way faster than my old one. Even booting up the computer is fast 1-3 minutes and the computer is fully booted up. My old one would take 5-10 minutes just to get to the unlock screen. Even loading multiple websites at once it still is fast. It can max out at 3.2Ghz and it only says 2.5Ghz - Hard Drive, storage it quite large already. I like the storage size where you can store large documents and programs. Disadvantages: - The keyboard is quite small, if you small fingers like i do then the keyboard will work but if you have larger fingers then it MAY be challenging but that is your personal preference. - This not too important but i notice it quite a bit even typing this review. The space bar is LOUD when depressing it every time. The other keys are quite but the space bar is loud when typing. If in a quite room, it will be noticeable. - Upon setting it up, i noticed there is no program to transfer all your data, pictures, documents, etc like the old Windows 7 or earlier so i had to buy a transfer cable to transfer all of it over. Overall, i very happy with the computer and hope this computer lasts as long as my old one. I would definitely recommend this computer as a upgrade or as a first computer because this is good buy.

Worked, for a while.

Bought this product back in September, 2017. After 1 week of use, the touch screen stopped working. BestBuy exchanged me with a new product right away, which was nice. However, around the end of this January, a column of the keys stopped working, and I was told it's potentially a manufacturing defect, the only way I could use my manufacturer warranty is shipping the product back to HP and wait for 6 more weeks. This experience is utterly upsetting and I lost faith with the quality and the reliability of HP products.

Poor Battery Life

I purchased this laptop during the Boxing Day Sale. Responsive and fast. However, the battery life is very very poor. Hence the 3 stars

Great buy

I bought this laptop on sale a few weeks ago. This is a great laptop. I bought it for my online schooling. Everything loads quickly and runs very smooth. I have had a very easy time with connectivity. I spent about 3 min connecting my printer, speakers and Bluetooth devices to it and everything connected without a hitch. unlike Asus computer I bought HP did not have a lot of bloatware to slow the computer down. I am confident this laptop will perform the way I need it to for my entire schooling time. Only minor thing is the monitor could use an upgrade but as I wont be gaming on this computer it is of little consequence to me. I can still watch HD videos up to 720P which is just fine. If I want better I can use my TV.

Put a SSD in it and this is OK

Overall a good laptop, but with the default hard drive, it is too slow.. Especially right out of the box with all the HP tool installed.. A clean installation of windows 10 may help, but the 5400 RPM HDD stay slow.. Put a samsung 850 evo in it and you're good to go. Whitout SSD, 2.5/5 With SSD 4/5
