I love it!!!

After enjoying an HP inkjet printer for 14 years, I had replaced it when the lamp for the scanner stopped working. Two years ago I replaced it with a Canon Pixma MX492 and quickly found out what mistake I had made in selecting a piece of junk. I now have gone back to HP and selected this printer, what a relief to go back to HP and this one is a delight to use and install. It suits my home needs and I am in love with it!!!

I brought it home and followed the instructions to set up the wireless. This is where the nightmare began. It was very difficult to get it connected using the HP software. Once I finally did get it connected and tried to print, the photo app on my computer could not find the printer, so I tried to add it to my computer to no avail. After several tries using the HP software I finally gave up and connected a USB cable. This finally allowed me to print something. So I tried to print using my phone. This worked very well. No issues with that. So I was willing to live with having to have my computer connected with a cable. But, in less than a week, the printer stopped working. It appeared to be stuck on something as the screen showed a progress bar that was at about 75%. I have no idea what it was trying to do. I attempted to shut down the printer. It said shutting down for nearly 30 minutes, before I finally got fed up and unplugged the power cable. When I plugged it back it it went right back to the progress bar and stopped at roughly 75% again. Unable to print from any devices now, so that is when I returned it. I purchased an Epson 3720, which connected immediately to all of my devices with no grief and no cables.

Where are the other reviews?

Bought for a good sale price last week. Set up relatively easy for me. Enjoying the wireless capability, especially from my phone. Prints on plain paper as good as any printer I have owned. Photos on the quality photo paper I already had are very good. The photo color does have a golden undertone in comparison to what I see on my computer or phone but not enough to be a problem. I might play with the photo editing before printing if I was really concerned. For fibre artists: The front loading feed was not a problem for silk organza printer sheets or for transfer paper designed to make iron on transfers. I played with the paper and quality settings on both the printer and computer and the outcome was decent. The transfer paper had good colour quality, the silk a little paler. Haven't used the copier or scanner yet. I am satisfied with the quality of product for the money. Improvements would be a bigger screen with clearer icons and a top feed. The two trays for paper are not very solid but functional.
