Exactly what it says it is...

Researched before buying, and this is exactly what it says it is. I was looking for an inexpensive first laptop for children to use for homework/educational purposes, with a side of Minecraft gaming. It tends to be a bit chunky when first loading the game, but game play is fine after that. Keyboard has a great feel to it. I'm more than happy with it for these purposes.

32GB Memory too little to do anything!

Windows and system files took a big chunk of the memory - nearly 24GB. You can't keep everything on Google drive or Dropbox and will find this machine useless after few months of use. Only positive side is the sleek outlook.

It screams cheap

Picked this up on the granddaughter's request. Not impressed. Terribly slow processor (although wireless AC makes the Internet snappy). Cheap feeling. Worst part is the pitiful 32GB of flash memory in place of a real drive. Not even enough room to create a restore partition. I would consider this nothing more than a Windows tablet with a keyboard. Returned for a credit

HP Stream 14" Laptop

Disappointed. It is pretty slow, but I guess that's what you get for buying a cheap computer...

How to make this work

I've set up one of these for a friend, and set up a Dell with almost the same specs, so here is how to make it work. 1. Turn off hibernation. This will save quite a bit of space by getting rid of the hidden hibernate file. Run a command window as Administrator and type: powercfg.exe /hibernate off 2. Remove any unneeded software from Control Panel - Programs and Features. 3. Run "Disk Cleanup" both in normal mode and "Clean Up System Files" mode. Remove everything, including old update files, etc. This should free up enough space to install the latest updates. Run Disk Cleanup after every major install of Updates, to free up space again. I managed to get the Creators Update on mine, although there was only 2gb left just after installing the Creators Update. I then ran Disk Cleanup again after and there was about 10gb free space. 4. Buy a Micro SD card, format it to NTFS, and set the location for all the user folders (Desktop, Documents, Music, Videos, etc) to that card (should show up as Drive D).

Agree with other reviewer

At first glance this looks like a decent deal and a good alternative to chromebooks, since there are many software limitations to Chromebooks for now. Pros: runs windows 10 and MS office. Cons: lack of storage/HDD VERY problematic. Like the other reviewer, I have absolutely zero personal files on the computer, and absolutely NO additional software besides the included Win10 and MS Office. I deleted everything (such as the anti-virus trial). Still, there is never enough room just to do the Win updates. Very very frustrating because the computer will go on an endless loop of trying to find, download, and install updates just to hours later say that it wasn't able to complete the update. Meanwhile the computer slows to a crawl because it's constantly trying to update. I bought this literally for the sake of watching netflix and maybe type up simple stuff using MS word since I sold my Chromebook, and I thought I was upgrading. Big mistake. I wish I had my chromebook back. Netflix was smoother on chromebook and I could have typed up my stuff using google docs.

It's okay for the use needed. I have another HP pavilion 17" 8MB ram and works pretty well. But this one has a problem that appears slower. Perhaps its 4MB of memory is not enough. Also slow to connect to the printer (wireless). I am not sure what could be the problem.

I bought this thinking it would be the perfect size for everything I needed. It's small and very light which is nice for students, but there is one major problem. The thing has zero storage capabilities. 'Windows takes up most of the drive space and once I installed an anti-virus and chrome it would barely function. Even with all my files on a cloud it would not work. I would give it less than one star if I could. Will be returning it.
