Good printer, bad experience with Best Buy

I have only praise for this printer. Not so for the experience with Best Buy. This is the second printer I got. The first one arrived broken while I was out of the country on business. When I arrived back, I found out that the printer arrived broken. When I contacted Best Buy, I was told "sorry, our return policy will not allow you to return the item after more than 14 days after its arrival. Contact the manufacturer" What if, for objective business reasons, you cannot be there in time to check the integrity of the item sent by courier? This is a punitive and unfair policy. Had I bought the item at Costco, for instance, all returns would be accepted no questions asked. Why couldn't Best Buy do the same? Just asking...
