Bought one in May 2018. Three USB 3.1 port already have error messages. Contacted HP and they will restore it to factory setting. That means I have to spend a lot of time resetting, restoring software.

  • Horrible Support from HP. Will make you pay for help on new computer

This is a brand new computer which is having trouble connecting to my phone, and connecting to my external hard drive, which works on every other computer that it has been connected to. I contacted HP support since it is under warranty and they said that since it seems to be more of a driver/software/operating system issue rather than a hardware issue they will have to charge me to fix it, even though this what the system comes with. Even to tell me what drivers I will may to potential fix the issue, they will charge. Very disappointing service/product from what used to be a good company.

Coming from a 14 year old Sony XP, this unit is snappy fast thanks to the SSD. Purchased a 27” HP monitor to compliment. Was able to reuse my laser mouse with driver updates and my old 17” monitor is now hooked in to form a dual monitor system. Had to purchase Bluetooth speakers. I toyed with buying an all-in-one but eventually stayed with the form factor I was used to. I was able to restore about 90% of my files. My biggest gripe is with Windows 10 making my files on a USB hard drive into “read only” files but I am gradually working through that. I only hope I can get close to the same life out of this unit as the old one.

  • Okay but...

Nice looking and quiet. Certainly speedy when performing ordinary duties. However, it seems to have thermal issues. I'm used to leaving my computers running all the time. I was very surprised to awaken one morning and find that this desktop had shut itself down due to overheating. It wasn't running any intensive programmes. I'm not a gamer. It had simply been idling overnight. Checking the bios, the fans seem to be working as they should so perhaps it's a design flaw with this machine. Now I've set the computer to go to sleep after a few hours and there have been no further instances of shutdowns due to overheating. I'll probably keep the machine however, it has lost my trust. Another point: I'm coming from years of Windows 7 Pro. This computer runs the Windows 10 Home which by comparison seems horribly organized. Perhaps at some point I'll move to Linux.

  • Very cool and powerful machine

This machine is super fast with its 8th generation i5 processor, coupled with 8 GB ram and 128 GB SSD drive. It boots up in no time and handles my PS editing tasks with ease. I am very satisfied with this desktop.

It does everything I want from a PC and more. Purchased from Best Buy on sale about 2 months ago as a replacement for my one year old Asus that died. Windows and every other programs load very quickly and problem free.

I hope my experience just was an unlucky case. On August 1st afternoon, I picked up the computer and a monitor (also HP) which I ordered before. Unfortunately, three problems happened in 10 days! At first, on August 1st night, I found there was one black spot on the upper left screen, maybe some damaged pixels. Then I return it and bought another monitor (another brand). The second, on August 6th, I can't open web pages, folders and so on. I thought it was a system problem and even reinstalled the system by keyboard control and through the system's own recovery system. But after reloading, the problem remains the same. I finally found out that the left mouse button out of work. Then I have to return and change a new mouse. The third time, on August 10th, the DVD disk was out of work!! Then I returned the whole desktop.
