Fan noise when low CPU usage

One day after buying the laptop, it is still empty. However, by simply browsing the web, the fans started making a lot of noise. Enough for the people around me to wonder if their computer was alright. This is when the computer is on extremely low CPU usage, image high usage...

Fantastic Portable Machine

I've only had mine for about a week so regard my review accordingly. So far, this laptop is excellent. I researched the hell out of the market looking for a 13.3" light weight, well equipped laptop that was of high quality that would not break the bank. I zeroed in on the Spectre 13. Note, do NOT confuse this laptop (the HP Spectre 13) with a similar sounding HP Specter X360 13.3". They are both different laptops. I compared it against the HP Spectre 360 13.3" and the Asus Zenbook UX330UA-AH55 which I regard as its closest competitors. There is the updated Dell XPS 13 as well which kind of looks like this too. If you are on a budget and you are looking for the best bang for your buck, go with the UX330UA-AH55 and shave over 1/3rd off your costs which you can put into other things. Go with this Spectre 13 if you want a combo of quality and price and something you'll be proud to own and enjoy using for a long time. The reason you buy a laptop is for portability. So unless you are blind as a bat, the idea of lugging around a large 15" laptop is crazy. You want to first and foremost consider what the weight and size of the device is. You want something in this size range that is as light as possible so you can take it to and from the office. This laptop as of the present is one of the lightest and slimmest. Everything else is heavier and a pain to carry and move around. I did not need a flip screen to turn it into a detachable tablet or a flip laptop. That stuff is a gimmick so don't fall for it. How often do you think you would take a laptop and try to write stuff on it? Hardly ever. You'd reach for a paper and pen and write it into a note book. Ignore flip laptops with flimsy hinges that get worse as you use them. This one is a laptop with the flip feature which is what you want. The screen of this laptop is great. Very minimal bezel around the screen which makes it look nice as well. The image is nice and crisp and IPS which enables you to see it from all angles well. You don't need a 4K screen on a laptop. The keyboard, the trackpad, the speakers - everything looks and feels of high quality on this laptop. You'll look like a high roller with this laptop. Its got the fastest processor that is currently available on the market for laptops. I would have preferred 16GB ram as you cannot upgrade the ram since its soldered onto the motherboard. But I guess I'll have to make do with 8GB with the fast processor picking up the slack. Unless you are a power user like me however, 8GB will do you nicely. Its got 256GB of SSD disk space which is so-so at the moment. Get an external portable hard drive to store your stuff. I would have preferred a bigger SSD drive but... frankly I can't afford all the goodies I want so I'm making do. Its got 3 Thunderbolt ports at the back. At first I thought this might be an inconvenience since I'd had to carry around an adapter to plug in USB devices but its fine. Industry is moving towards Thunderbolt ports anyway. Get thunderbolt to USB cables or a thunderbolt hub so you can plug the external drive you purchase into the ports. The one I have is in white and looks fantastic in this color. And when I say it looks fine... let me just say, its the nicest looking laptop on the market. Nothing touches it in terms of looks. There are few imitators like the new Dell XPS 13 but this one looks better. In short, listen to Spectre Boy (i.e.me), hit the "Add to the Cart" button and buy this laptop with confidence. Come on.. you can do it. Just slide that mouse on over to that button...... There we go. That's it. That's it.

Bought this laptop after couple of days of comparison between HP 15.6" Envy and Spectre x360. Both machines offer great specs and value but this unit raises every bar from functional, specification, portability and performance. It is a fantastic, great performer and feather weight laptop. I thought i have seen it all but this one you have got to see it to believe it. Brought it home, install took about 30 minutes with all the updates and patches. The screen is amazing, clear, crisp, brilliant colours and again, feather like weight. I upgraded the O/S to Windows 10 Pro to get few features enabled and it works like a charm. Great buy and beautiful machine.
