Too hot to handle

My laptop idles around 60 degrees Celsius, and under load, it will go to around 90. Which isn't good. Also I probably could cook and egg on this thing.z

Broke Within a Year

This Laptop had so many issues. Unfortunately, I was out of country so couldn't bring it within the years warranty. On top of the other issues, the battery completely died after a year. I do not recommend this laptop

Top quality

Using my spectre for 3 months now and very happy with. Batteries are very good, computer is light and performing. I work with pretty hefty and interlinked excel files and the computer takes it no prob.

very disappointing

this is a very nice looking laptop with way too many issues! anything you buy isn't supposed to have problems, especially at this price, not acceptable!!! PROS: - very portable and light weight. - comes with stylus and carry sleeve - very quiet - very good specs and its fast ( sometimes) CONS: - loose and uneven hinges - not so good speakers - terrible track pad - doesn't run smoothly half the time (probably more of a Windows issue) - lots of glare on the screen due to high gloss finish - charging adapter is flimsy when plugged into the wall - touch screen can be quite finicky (it's definitely nowhere near iPad quality) - bottom of the laptop's bottom cover is not solid on one side (bends inwards) - fingerprint scanner doesn't work half the time and don't even get me started on facial recognition - screen could be a bit brighter - runs windows Returning this tomorrow and waiting for 2018 Macbooks I haven't owned a computer since 2010 but I can say that from what I have seen with this laptop as well as reading reviews, and hearing friend complain, windows is a more versatile platform but it is so unreliable and loaded with useless crap that just slows down every thing!

Lousy Purhase

I've had the HP Spectre for about a month now, and I wholeheartedly regret this purchase. It's supposed to be a powerful laptop, but it keeps running out of RAM, screen flickering, going black, or freezing, lagging, overheating and fan making a lot of noise every time I have a couple of browsers and applications open. touchscreen is not very responsive to the stylus. Pretty much have to do one thing at a time on this thing. Only positive aspect are the size, portability, and how quickly it boots up. Other thank that, it's a pretty useless piece of machinery/technology.

High Quality Portability

I originally purchased the HP Pavilion x360 (14in) and was very disappointed with the quality of the hardware along with the extremely loud fan. In addition to this, the performance of the laptop in terms of speed was sub-par and not what I would expect from a new laptop. I was debating the purchase of this one due to the large jump in price, however, I find it is definitely worth it. The quality of the laptop feels worth the value and the operation is clean. As a student I appreciate how slim and lightweight it is and so far have had zero issue with any fan noise even when running a significant amount of programs at once.

Good value

The Spectre x360 provides great value for the price. It's lightweight, has decent battery life and provides great performance for an ultrabook. The power button feels a little cheap, but otherwise the build quality is quite good. The bundled sleeve and stylus are a nice touch.

Wont turn on

The laptop refuses to turn on now. after some days of use, the laptop stopped working, refused to boot. Dissatisfied of my purchase knowing HP came out with new laptops.

Please dont buy people!

Purchased the spectre x360, coolest of packages. But the 4k display flickered every other second. This was day one guys! I wouldve attached media files if they wouldve let me do that. I was ready to get another one as replacement if HP gave me a couple of extended hp protection years as compensation which they dint agree to. So its goodbye HP!

Great convertible!

I've read and watch many good reviews online that made me want this laptop but the bad reviews in here had me hesitating. However I finally gave it a try because you know that if you're not happy with a product you've bought at BestBuy you can just return it within 30 days. And I'm really happy with this laptop! After 10 days, no fan noise or overheating issue as reported by other buyers. This is high quality laptop, lightweight and fast. It comes with USB-C to HDMI cable, stylus and a faux-leather sleeve.

No issues

I find this computer very pleasant to use. I have had no heating or fan noise issues. No sounds from the keyboard as mentioned in other reviews. My only issues so far is that sometimes the facial recognition doesn't recognize me, I also find the location of the power button odd and I often press it while trying to pick up the laptop. Very small issues.

Avoid the spectre

After watching raving reviews of the HP spectre x360 on youtube and reviews online, I decided to buy one. I must admit that the specs of the spectre x60 are just amazing. The packaging of the spectre is neatly and professionally done and makes you fall in love with it at the first sight. The package comes with stylus pen, usb to HDMI cable, laptob carrier/bag. The appearance of the laptop is stunning. But I was so shocked to find out that in less than an hour of using the laptop, it had become so heated up and was starting to make noise. So I googled and found out that that is a common problem with the spectre. Many people had complains about the noise and heating. Though my screen did not show any signs of crack, I also read online that many people had reported to HP about the cracking of their screens without any force applied to the laptop. These three problems were enough for me to return to the laptop immediately. I'm still shocked as to why HP would come up with such a premium laptop and yet allow it to have these flaws. I would advice you to avoid buying the spectre x360 until HP solves the heating, noise and the cracking problems. If you can live with the heat and noise, then I highly recommend it for you.

High-pitched frequency from keyboard

Whenever the keyboard backlight is on, you will hear a high-pitched frequency coming from the keyboard (coil whine). I exchanged it for a second unit, and it still had it. Got a third unit, but it's still there. For a laptop that costs this much, this shouldn't have to be an issue. Everything else about the laptop is great though.

Amazing laptop

I've been putting this laptop through its paces for the past four days, and I have to say it's the best laptop I've ever owned. It's a massive step up from the last HP I owned, and I like it far better than the Sony Vaio I've been using most recently. I had been reluctant to move away from Windows 7, but I have to say I really like the latest Windows 10 OS... it's very intuitive and easy to adapt to, and packaged in such an amazingly designed laptop, with 8th gen chip, is a winning combination. Regarding comments from previous reviewers about QC issues, particularly loose or noisy sounding fans, I've experienced no QC issues at all and couldn't be more happy with my purchase.

Love it so far!

This computer is fast, compact and has all the bells and whistles. It has replaced my Ipad and old laptop and functions for both work and entertainment purposes. I could not be happier with the purchase. The size of it is ideal for me because I already have so many things to carry each day.

Buzzing/humming sound from keyboard backlight

There's a buzzing/humming sound every time the keyboard backlight is on. It's definitely noticeable in a quiet room. Exchanged for another unit, but the problem persisted. The model with the 7th generation Intel processors didn't have this problem.

  • from Vancouver, BC

seriously not good

the loud fan noise can cause internal damage you know... the overheating can cause cancer...please don't buy this laptop

  • from Victoria, BC

High frequency sound

The first unit I bought had a high pitched frequency coming from the fans. I thought I could live with it but it quickly drove me crazy. Exchanged it for a 2nd unit. It had the same problem PLUS a high pitched frequency when the keyboard backlight was on. Driving me nuts. Going to return it.

QC sux

Amazing product with the new 8th gen Intel makes it a fast and responsive touch screen, build feels premium but with flaws. HP has major quality control issues. The first one I bought had fan noise, not your usual fan noise but as if the fan was loose or had a cable sitting on it. Exchanged it for another unit, didn't have the fan issue but the panel on the bottom right of the laptop was not sitting properly. You could push it !!! and one of the arrow keys on the keyboard felt spongy compared to the rest of the keyboard. Even though this feels like a premium product, HP's quality control is flawed and is not acceptable for a laptop at this price range. COME ON HP. If you do purchase this laptop go over it and make sure it doesn't have any physical flaws. and this unit does not come with the rechargeable pen, uses a AAAA battery
