    Keeps switching to fridge mode. Only had it for 2 weeks and it switched to fridge mode 4 times already. Good thing we were home each time. It's going back.

  • Do not buy as freezer

    Have owned 2 Insignia 13.8 Cu. Ft. Frost-Free Upright Convertible Freezer/Refrigerator - White - for less than a year. When in freezer mode they switch randomly to fridge mode. I suspect bad firmware. The freezers have done this multiple times. They don't warn you when the changeover happens, so you end up with spoiled food. Buy a classic freezer with a dial thermostat instead.

    It switched to fridge mode without noticing. We lost ALL of our food, A freezer is not something you check unless there's a power outage which there was none. I am really p!ssed off now but it's my fault I should have believed the other reviews. DO NOT BUY!

  • Randomly switching from freezer to fridge mode

    Similar to another review, our unit is randomly switching from freezer model (-22 celsius to fridge model unexpectedly resulting in spoiled food. We have to check the freezer every day to monitor the temperature, as the app regularly loses wifi connectivity limiting our ability to keep an eye on things in-app. We have contacted Insignia to exchange this unit.

  • Buyer beware - randomly switched to fridge mode

    Have had this freezer for about a month. The design is good and the freezer works well. I installed the app which shows the current temperature. However, the freezer once randomly switched from freezer to fridge mode on its own. Luckily it was caught before ruining all the contents. No notification sent through the app because it was now in fridge mode and not technically too warm. Also, the freezer was left open accidentally and the app DID NOT send any notifications when it went out of range. App was set to allow notifications so it seems this is an advertised feature that just doesn't work. That's disappointing but the bigger concern is the possibility of the freezer switching modes on its own. App also doesn't seem to work for notifications. Might be better to just buy a fridge OR a freezer because the dual function is flaky.

  • Wi-fi works

    Before I bought this, I saw various reviews which led me to conclude that the wifi feature doesn't work - and we had decided to buy one anyway. In fact the wifi does work, at least for us. We've had the freezer at our cottage for a month now, and can log in to it any time via the iPhone app. It says what the temperature is, confirms the door is closed, and sends warning messages if it loses signal (for example with a power outage - and it recovers fine from a power outage). It did take a few goes getting it connected, but once connected, it's been solid. Impressive.

  • Wonderful Freezer

    I bought this freezer for it was at a good value price and the size of the unit that I was looking for. It runs very quiet and that you can not even here it, I also like the moveable shelves that you can a just were you want, For the price that I paid for it, I sure hope it last and runs for many years of use.
