- Deceitful durability and uncomfortably stiff cable- January 19, 2021
Bought this cable to satisfy 2 needs: a long cable in my room, and a durable one that will last and survive at least a year. Well it’s long I’ll give it that, but it has already broken a month and a half of use and in the most unexpected place. The lightning tip of the cable has snapped lose and no longer produces a charge. I cannot tell if this happened due to a drop or just over time use, but a durable cable is only as strong as its weakest link. My diagnosis is that the cable is so beefy and rigid (2 cons I didn’t see being as big of a deal they have become) that it provides and opposite weight to my phone making the lightning end become a hinge over time. My advice: find a longer thinner cable, and if your here for durability just know that it’s NOT worth the stiff cable.

I purchased this charger cord because when I am doing face time or zoom for a class or workout with friends I don't want to worry about the power dropping. This is a very sturdy long cord which allows me to position my devices, especially my I pad in any place I want rather than trying to move myself to be close to a plug. The only downside is if I really need to charge from low power it takes a little longer than the Apple cord that came with my I pad but this is a very minor issue of a few minutes.

It is possible I got a dud, but the cable was in flawless condition and yet would not charge either an iPhone 12 Pro Max nor an iPad 8th Gen. Verified the Apple 20 Watt charger worked, so it was definitely the cable. This could be a fluke, or an example of what Google figured out that cheap USB-C cables are all over the market and generally don't work with all devices or all wattages on all chargers, etc...
