Great quality for the price!

I was surprised how good the quality was? Insgnia TVs have a come a long ways!

Good value if on sale, but I'd pass

I bought this TV on sale end of 2016 - had it now more than 1 year. It was a cheap TV to use for kids Netlix and YouTube - it does okay for that. Reasons I'd pass - no buttons on TV at all. If you lose/damage the remote you'll need a smartphone/universal remote. Remote is ultra-basic - we don't have cable, but there are no digits. Spotify sucked - totally limited functionality. But not to worry - it's not been supported for months now and likely is dead. External hard drive plugged in and using the Roku functionality - bad player in my opinion, I at least haven't figured out how to make any playlists. Plus, the media files types supported seem to hit or miss with my collection of files. I haven't plugged in any gaming console or bluray/etc. Internet connection seems fine. I wouldn't buy again though.

Had now for 3 months no issues, great picture, the Roku program is the best, you can even put the app on your phone and control the Tv.Play your music to the tv and easily have a slide show of your pictures from your phone to the Tv.The picture is super. The remote is is unique with less control buttons, but everything comes up on the tv to control.Sound is great. From my reading of insignia, its usually any LG cross with a Samsung.I just cant say anything bad about.I dont know if its any good for gaming.Hooks quickly to the internet and youtube is great.Very great value for the money.

Ver good for a Best Buy Brand

This TV is great especially all of the "smart features" the quality is better than I thought. The Insignia brand when it comes to TVs is great, my fiancé has had his for over 5 years with no problems at all.

TV stops working

TV stopped working, even the crapiest computer monitors don't fail. Check online for other numerous complaints of Red light on with blank screen. Bought 2 Insignia TVs, best buy was not helpful as the TVs are 1 year and a few days and does not recognize customer loyalty. Not buying anything else bestbuy brand, absolutely don't recommend and does not deserve the one star after checking complaints online.

Great TV for the price.

It was easy to unpack and set-up. I just took out the easy to follow instructions and put in the batteries in the remote control and turned it on. I connected to my Router and with a code so I registered on the Roku site with my computer.I got the APP for my cell phone and punched in all the codes needed for all the sites I wanted,Netflix,Google play,YouTube. It takes about 30 minutes to get it registered and going. No problems at all with my Router at the other end of my appartement the signal for Netflix and YouTube is strong and fluid. Very happy.

Crisp image, very good sound

Purchased as a Christmas gift for my son to do his gaming and this TV did not disappoint. Beautiful, crisp image and the sound is very good when isn't gaming with his headset. The Smart TV features were also a bonus, which he enjoys.

Great TV, Great Sound, Great Quality for it's price! Except Spotify app sucks.

Bought this TV for my girlfriend and i would say i was pretty satisfied. Only thing i didn't like is Spotify is poorly optimized on Roku. You can't connect to spotify and play music using your phone! And the spotify app itself on Roku kinda sucks. You can only search music, see the top 100 and change accounts. You can't access your own playlists or songs. But everything else is really good. Netflix, Youtube play pretty well. Colors are nice and sound is surprisingly good. Would recommend if you're fine with taking the time to search songs on the spotify app.

A Review Before the Purchase

This will sound odd to most of you, but I've never owned a flat panel television. I'm in my 60's and my 27" Panasonic CRT (cathode ray tube) tv is still running. However, I want to "cut the cable" so I finally have to find this old gal a new home where she'll continue to be appreciated. I've read such great things about the Roku streaming devices and now I find a tv with it already installed. Great! The only negative thing I can see from the reviews has to do with the sound. There seems to be an issue with every tv out there. My main wish is that whatever tv I buy LASTS. I can't afford to replace a tv every 2 or 3 years.

  • from Dorval

Under powered CPU, poor WIFI

Netflix is lags and is choppy to use and the WIFI setting don't seem to save (have to enter login details again from time to time). Started using a Chromecast instead of the built in apps and the HDMI connection to the Chromecast is having issues. Cheap TV and unusable apps.

Buyer beware!!

I bought this tv end of last year. It was working fine until it started rebooting itself randomly after a few months of use. Geeksquad sent a technician to take a look at it. Tech said he had to order a part. Two weeks later, I had to contact the technician as no one had called me back. I was told that Bestbuy head office has authorized to have the tv exchanged. Called but was given the runaround by Geeksquad/Bestbuy/Insignia and was given false information numerous times on how to exchange the tv.. Finally got someone to authorize the exchange of the tv while on the phone with Geeksquad and talking to a manager in person at a store. I received an email from head office authorizing the tv and was told I could pick up a new one at a store in BC...I'M IN MONTREAL!! Another Geeksquad screw up there. Finally got to pick up and exchange the tv, same model, same size. Not even a month later, it's doing the same thing: rebooting randomly. Just called Geeksquad today and they insisted they dispatch the same technician again to take a look at it even though I told them it was the same problem with the same model of tv. Good thing I didn't buy the Geeksquad extended warranty if it's this difficult just to exchange a defective TV. This will be my last purchase at Bestbuy as they dont know how to fix problems but rather give the customer headaches and runaround before they finally give in and do what they're supposed to. Terrible TERRIBLE customer "service." Just awful. I wish I could give this rating -100 stars.

Nice TV, poor system

The TV is good, has a nice sound and image. In the other hand, the Roku System is not that good. Netflix works well but there is not many other (good) options. Spotify is a very limited version. My intention was not having cable and use only Smart TV features. If it is your case, i suggest you to spend a little more on another TV.

Great TV, good colors, best part is the remote!

This TV set has great picture (very vibrant -- similar to HDR), the sound is meh (as expected -- it is a TV not a sound system!), the best part is without a doubt the remote. It is basically a Roku remote, it has something like 10 buttons. Very simple to use I love it. Unlike all the over complicated remotes you normally get. It reminds me of the simplicity of the Apple TV remote. So far so good with this TV. Way better then the cheap insignia TV I bought 5 years ago -- they have stepped up their game!

Good performance for the price

Picked up this TV which was on sale during labour day weekend. Picture quality is good and it has full HD. Comes with many free apps and channels. Cons: The speaker performance is a bit weak and if you're switching from different channels or apps, the volume tends to fluctuate a bit. I wish a software update to address this (i.e. sound check). The remote is simple...too simple and it does NOT have a numeric keypad which is inconvenient if you're switching from say, channel 1 to channel 30. You have to click 30 times!

Excellent 1080p HDTV

I was looking for a TV that fit a specific space and the 40" units were just a hair too wide. Best Buy com has excellent reviews of this TV and I have a tiny desktop Insignia that has worked out very well. At first I thought the Insignia 39 was OK, nothing really special, just a good solid TV that was easy to set up and had numerous HDMI inputs. The sound was respectable also. However, after a few months, the screen image has really come alive. Colors are accurate with good details in the blacks, and overall, the picture is is natural looking, A very plesant surprise. Would I buy again - absolutely. The 1080p market is shrinking in favor of 4k, so it is nice to score a decent 1080p. Highly recommended.

Excellent TV for the price

Bought this during their Boxing Week specials and much less of a price. We are quite happy with it. We initially bought it for our bedroom but are using it in our living room for now. Really are happy with the overall quality and ease of use/setting up the TV. I didn't think I would use the smart features of the TV (Roku box) but we use it quite a bit especially to watch YouTube and other free stuff. Well worth the purchase and will look at their larger TV's for the living room when the time comes.

SD TV channels don't work

HD TV channels work fine however if you try change to a SD channel it gets statistic, picture keeps cutting in and out, and the volume goes. The cable is a little short. As well it has happened 3 times now where is has become loud and the volume stays the same whether it is at 10 or 1. Other than that I enjoy it!

TV SD Channels Don't Work

HD TV channels work fine however; if you try to go to a SD channel it gets static and cuts in and out or the volume goes. As well I have had twice where the sound becomes loud and does not make a difference if you put the volume at 10 or 1. Other than that I enjoy.

Very nice

Very good picture quality and sound quality. So far, so good!

  • from Oakville, ON

Good for the money

The picture looks initially a little flat, but with some adjustments, it looks OK. The remote lacks any numbers, so going to numbered channels is a bit of a pain. All the smart functions seem to work well. If you want an inexpensive largish TV, this one would be hard to beat. The wall and table mounts you might want to purchase for this TV at Best Buy are pretty overpriced...I got a 20 dollar one at another Canadian electronics vendor that worked as well as their 150 dollar ones!

  • from Scarborough, ON

lousy remote

Lousy remote, can't change channels by pressing digits (there are no digits), so have to manually press up or down to get to channel, so theoretically if you are on channel 3 and want to get to 29, you have to press the up key 26 times. Also, if you ever misplace your remote, you can't operate the tv because there is no buttons on the tv. Waste of time and money.

Great purchase

Originally bought the 40" Sharp but it has screen tear and the color was not that great. Returned the day after. Purchased this 39" Roku TV. The picture quality is a lot better than the Sharp I previously purchased color, sharpest and the details are all better. Roku was easy to setup. I already have one so not need to register. Color, sharpest, etc. have to play around to get to what I like. Its is a bit confusing until I figure out that you need to go to that particular source e.g. cable and use the * to set you color preference. Meaning all input have different setting if you want. Very happy with the purchase. who knows Insignia have such great quality for the price. Now will have to see how long it last :) Hopefully a long time. My last Samsung LCD is still running and its is over 10 years old.

Picture quality is poor

I bought this because the price seemed very good. I got what I paid for. The picture quality is very poor. It is very blurry and has an unnatural blue color to the picture which cannot be adjusted out of it. Also the ROKU streaming is useless. There is nothing there to watch.

  • from Hamilton, ON

Definitely the right choice!

I ordered this TV on the boxing day sale and I am very pleased with my choice! The picture quality is excellent and the sound quality was beyond my expectations. Very happy with my purchase and would highly recommend this TV!

Very happy with this tv

I purchased this tv at the boxing week sale well for 300 and I am very happy with my tv. Picture is great and streaming is quick and reliable. I am extremely happy with this tv especially dor that price

Good Value

I got this for boxing day and am very happy with the picture and sound. The sound is actually better than many other TV's I have used, it goes quite loud and stays clear. Roku is a nice bonus and I use Pluto which is a free app and gives you a bunch of internet channels and some USA news.

Insignia 39" 1080 60Hz LED Roku

Got it on sale during the boxing sale at best buy for 300 which is a really good price for a 39" smart led tv. However, the image quality had to reasonably good overall and not just for the price. I think it easily meets my minimum expectations. Good image quality, sharp detail, bright picture, realistic colours. Motion blur may be the only point on which it may not score as well but i dont think i have tested it out adequately. Haven't noticed any obvious issues with the usual content though. The one glitch that i should point out is that you have to register with roku before you can even get the tv to work even if you just want to use a hard drive and play a movie. They ask for a credit card number but there is a way around it by exiting out of the online registration process (on your computer) before that step and going back to the page again at which point it actually gives you the option to proceed without using a credit card.

An excellent value and thrilled to have it

I got this item on sale during the Boxing Day event thanks to the lower price and name recognition, since I already have a Roku box on my primary TV. I'm technologically challenged, but the setup was intuitive and mostly automatic so it was minutes before I could use it. I have CD/DVD, TV, Netflix, PS3, etc. setup through it and it's great for picture quality, decent sound level/quality for a reasonably priced TV, and it's a great addition.

Pleasently Surprised

Wasn't sure what to expect with this TV, but I decided to give it a try since this was going in my boys' room and I really liked the convenience of having Roku built into the TV. First off - I love the interface - works great - really wish I had it on the rest of my TVs. I've actually been quite impressed with the display as well. Only negative was the first one that I got was broken in the box, but other than that this has been a great TV.

TV Possessed

Bought the first one three weeks ago was working fine until three days later it started smelling burnt rubber and the screen would change sizes. Call geek squad told them whats happening they said take it back asap and get another one. Replace it with same model, now this tv out of the blue goes to home icon and its difficult to get it back to the screen. Not happy with lnsignia brand.

Big Brand LED TV Quality, Unbeatable Price

The Smart TV options with Roku TV are on point. Highly recommend you sync with your Android phone and download all the free apps available at the very least. The smart input feature differentiates between all devices connected to your TV (i.e. receiver, game console, blu-ray player) and gives you the power to prioritize the dominant input during start up, something my other big brand LED smart TVs don't have. 1080p Quality is on point as well and the refresh rate holds up with high level gaming. Don't let the lesser known brand name get to you, if anything it is a blessing in disguise with the price tag it comes with. Certainly a steal!

  • from Ottawa, ON

Easy to use

This TV has a great picture after setting the colour up. I like the Roku on this TV. It's easy to access Netflix, add APPs and navigate through the options. I like the minimalist remote. Less buttons is far easy to use in dark environments.

  • from Ottawa, ON

Great picture....Great price

I bought this 39" TV to use in a small rec room with a viewing distance of 3m. I have it connected to a DIY TV antenna and it easily pulls in OTA digital channels in Ottawa. The sound is pretty good considering I have it in a relatively unfurnished room with no carpets. The remote is very basic and easy to use. Accessing Netflix and other APPs is simple. A ROKU APP is available and works very well for controlling the TV instead of using the remote. I adjusted the colour and I have to say this is a pretty good picture for a cheaper TV. This is a great TV for anyone who doesn't want to spend a lot of money for a smart TV.

  • from Burnaby,, BC

Mainly Good!

Bought it for the built-in Roku TV functionality. I also have an Android set top box connected to one of the HDMI ports of the TV. The TV picture is great with numerous video and audio quality options settable for each source input. Wifi connects easily. Able to cast pictures and videos from my Samsung tablet and phone easily using the Android Roku app. Videos from Youtube can be cast directly from my tablet. Successfully mirrored my tablet on the TV using Direct Wifi. Found to my disappointment that the native Roku video streaming apps such as Youtube were generally inferior to their corresponding Android ones, in terms of functionality and features. So now I tend to use my Android box over the Roku if there is a choice.

  • from Langley

good compared to price

good easy to use exceptable quality compared to price by this price it's good deal

Descent TV for the price. I have external speakers hooked up, so I haven't tested sound. For those who need to authenticate through a web portal for Internet, it is not possible using this television (e.g. open a browser to end password before connection will work). I needed to reconfigure the way the network was set up to get things to work.

  • from Montréal, QC

Awesome TV at a great price!

I purchased this TV for the bedroom, so I can watch Netflix, etc. It connected to my Wifi easily, and the picture is stunning for a TV of this price! I am amazed how good it looks, and with ROKU, so many apps with so many movies & TV shows on line, it is a perfect selection!

  • from Kitchener, ON

Can't be this TV for the Price!

This is an initial review as I bought this TV recently. Its used in our 2nd floor bedroom and it connected to the router in the basement flawlessly (5G connection). No other electronic has been able to. The interface is easy to use and ecstatically pleasing. Lots of apps to choose from. 3 HDMI's = great. The picture and the audio from this TV are excellent early on. Very pleased. You CAN mirror cast your phone (Android....Not Iphone). If you have a strong signal, you CAN stream your network media (Photos, Movies, Music) using the PLEX app (which I recommend...visually stunning). Download the Roku media app and you can use a USB to plug and play all media content. I hope it holds up....for the price, its a no brain-er.
