Laggy, Speakers BLOW, but good build

Just bought this. It is going right back. First the positive: It feels solid. Faux metal backing feels nice in your hands. Screen looks nice. Keyboard and track pad seem fine. If it performed OK, I'd be super happy. The bad: 1. Crazy slow. Spent about a minute trying to open a video on Youtube. (actually moving around Windows is pretty speedy though). I don't expect computer speeds, but my phone things up and running in half the time. 2. Touch screen is unresponsive. About 1 out 10 taps don't register. Makes it super irritating to enter passwords, etc. (My old phone is way better.) 3. The speakers even on max are super quiet. Waaaaay less loud than on my phone. Worse, they are positions exactly where your hands go it you are holding it (on the sides towards at the bottom of the unit). How did that design make any sense to anyone???

Awesome. Must buy.

I just got this tablet from the store and it worked WELL! the wifi dropped out one time, never happend again. The system functions fast and the boot up is great.

This seems like a great deal, but I ran into so many roadblocks trying to make it work for me that I am selling it 3 months after buying it and taking a loss. It only has 32GB which I thought could be solved by expanding it with a 128GB memory card, however there is only so much that can be saved to the card. This means even with minimal programs installed it still runs incredibly slow. Skype works better on my phone than on this device. The cord it comes with is too short to be useful so I bought a new one of those as well. I'll never get a tablet in place of a real laptop again, the keyboard makes it deceptive.

Not That Good At First

The tablet was not that good out of the box. The unit kept crashing with a blue screen of death. Eventually, the factory installation of Windows totally stopped working. Since I perform a fresh install of Windows at least once a year on all my other computers, I thought I would give it a go on this device. The fresh install, which was pretty quick, went smoothly. I then used my driver updater utility to install the latest drivers. The Fall Creators Update (2017) successfully installed a few months later. Now, the tablet is smooth and fast. I have had no problems since. It took a bit of work, but was well worth the effort.

  • from Sarnia, ON

The product it self does what you expect it to. But it is very slow. Set up takes hours, updates slower, even with a microsd card to free up some space...slow. Surely the designers would be aware of this issue, given that Windows 10 is recommending more speed that available. The only thing fast t=is the touch pad, its so sensitive, its pretty much uncontrollable. Had to buy a wireless mouse to fix that. It might be cheap but spend a few more bucks get something usable. This one is going back.

Does BestBuy stand behind their own products?

This review is more towards BestBuy Canada than the Insignia Flex product itself. After reading all of the negative reviews, I was fully expecting this product to be a lemon. However, I was very surprised that it turned out to be a fairly good tablet / laptop. Insignia is BestBuy's own brand and I knew that I might be taking a slightly bigger risk compare to buying brands like Lenovo, Microsoft, etc. I purchased the unit to keep track of my wedding guest list and fully expected it not to survive for very long because of the risk of drops, spills, theft, etc. It made it through the entire process flawlessly a few months ago, so as far as I am concerned, the product has served its purpose... About a week ago, there appear to be some charging issue then the keyboard section (keyboard+mouse+2xUSB) stopped working. Sighting that this unit has a 1 year manufacturer warranty and I purchased it ten months ago in February of 2017, I decided to bring it back just to see what BestBuy would honour their warranty. I first called their customer service and the representative said that since I am in Canada, I need to bring the unit to Geek Squad and that it should not cost me anything for them to examine the issue. I just went to my local BestBuy and the gentlemen at the Geek Squad examined the unit, talked to customer service and told me to bring the it over there and they would just replace the unit – free of charge. At the store where I went to, they only have one left and it was an open box item. They even offered me a discount because it was an open box - after almost a year LoL. I explained that it was more important for me to have a functional device than to get money back. They reassured me that they are willing to provide another full one year warranty starting from today even on the open box item. So I just came home with the new unit with full warranty. No matter what brand it is, all electronic products has issues from one time to another. Most of these products whether from Apple to Toshiba very likely got manufactured by the factories in Shenzhen, China. It comes down to whether or not the company you deal with stands behind their product. In this case, BestBuy definitely stood behind their own Insignia brand product. Although I am not sure if BestBuy will continue to invest in OEM'ing the Insignia tablets since there has not been any new models, I am happy that they have been willing to replace my malfunctioning keyboard with a completely new system. :) My suggestion to anyone who is considering to purchase the Insignia Flex 11.6" is this: do your research and try out the different products in store before you buy (whether or not online). Everyone has different expectations. The Intel Atom Cherrytrail Z8300 is a slower processor no matter which brand you purchase. Beware of Microsoft updates that bloats your space usage. I personally like the fact that it comes with a 5MP rear camera with auto-focus that the Acer 10.1" did not come with and sold for more. I hope this helps anyone else make their purchasing decisions.

Absolute garbage

Worthless. Shut itself down every few minutes, takes about five minutes to launch chrome, can't even scroll down a page smoothly. Worst of all, the screen is so bad that you can see the patterns of the lights behind the lcds. Colors started bleeding across half the screen within a week. Basically a 250 dollar paperweight.

Best Buy still hasn't delivered this....

I'm sure this is a terrific product, but after 9 days, I still don't have it. I keep getting the runaround...customer service sent an email saying, great news, it's been delivered! Followed up 3 days was still in the warehouse. My company spends hundreds at Best Buy, but great news! They don't have to worry about my business anymore!

Love my tablet and customer service is great! Would shop there again anytime!

good Product for what I need

I bought to be able to work remotely for the finance. I have ease of use coupled with QBO. I can use it anywhere only draw back is the glare on the screen.

Good Greif - Save your money! Buy something else!!

I've bought & Returned this tabled THREE TIMES. First tablet: I bought this tablet and within hours of having it home I got the "Blue Screen of Death" ... Now this is my first Windows "PC" in ages since I moved to Apple, however I need it to run software for my company. I thought I was just working it too hard and restarted it, a day later and multiple times of day received the same error. Returned it to store within a week. Second tablet: Bought, loaded up, and worked great!! The laptop maybe got actual usage time of an hour tops (would go on to run certain quotes and then put it back to sleep). One afternoon I was reading a article on it and the screen went black! Thought I hit the sleep button, so when I woke it up half the screen was completely pixilated and look as if the pixels had all melted and was stuck on the "Insignia screen" ... Returned that one again, within a week. Third Tablet: Again, loaded it up. This time I didn't download the software because I was thinking maybe my software was the issue. Used it for emails and went on a out-of-town business trip so it was really handy. In the hotel as I got settled in I loaded the computer to start replying to online (gmail) emails, and the screen then went BLACK! It never turned on again! .... And then returned it, four days later. Dear good lord, I never spent more time in bestbuy ... At this juncture Just going to wait for back to school sales and get something a little better! If it actually worked though I was really looking forward to using it.. It's a great size, keyboard and hinges feel strong, just wish the software on it was dependable.

bad product

1 works slowly 2,shut down frequently , have to charge the thing at least 1/2 hr to let it work again 1 hr, then it shuts down again & again to charge it 1/2 hr I would suggest pay 1 or 2 hundred more to buy better tablet

Heavy, clunky tablet... or compact, under-powered laptop

This is a decent product at this price point. Just don't expect the performance or feel of a more expensive tablets or laptops. Compared to an entry-level Surface tablet, which also runs Windows 10, this tablet is twice as heavy (when keyboards are included). It also tends to tip over easily as it doesn't have the Surface's built-in kick-stand. Running the same OS as a full-fledged laptop, it looks like it could run like a real laptop. But it quickly bogs down it needs to process much more than MS-Office, Youtube or a web browser. So, for most routine uses, it works fine. Just don't expect to run League of Legends, Minecraft and a bunch of other apps at the same time. Keep your expectations low and you'll be happy with it.

  • from Salmon Arm, BC

don't buy it

got the tablet yesterday. It works slowly & always shut down itself. I'll refund this garbage

  • from Aurora, ON

I used this as my "playing/experiment" activities via for work when remoting into my desktop, Teamview or putty - works fine, disk space is eaten up and i strongly suggest putting money into a 128GB micro SD Definitle good if you travel and wanna take your work or movies or even PC games on the go and use them externally with the keyboard - which is a great feat! Great investment.

  • from Ottawa, ON

out of date

Yes, this is anew tablets with a old 32 bit system. Could not believe that any company with a 64it cpu would put in a 32 bit OS. No wonder companies will not update their software to 64bit. to run properly and faster.

  • from Ottawa, ON

Great at what it does

I bought this tablet/keyboard combo because I needed to run an office. I haven't had any issues with the OS, and have primarily used it in PC mode rather than as a tablet (I have other devices for running apps). Overall it is good at what it does. If you're expecting it to be able to run several programs or apps at a time, you might be disappointed. If you're using it for a single purpose, it will run as expected. I've had no issues running office, streaming music, videos, or movies. I was able to stream back to back to back movies without any crashes or problems. The keyboard works great and I'm sure it will last if you take good care of it. The HDMI provided excellent output to the TV and with the addition of a mouse you never have to worry about clunky touch pad. I took advantage of an open box return after the boxing day sales and was able to save even more off the sale price. It carried the exact same warranty and return policy so it was worth trying out. No regrets.

  • from OKC

great but but keyboard kinda broke

got it for christmas. super easy to use but its heavy and the tablet part outweighs the keyboard making it unbalanced. I accidently broke þe keyboard and also had to get the software fixed because it was giving me problems. It sucks that i cant plug a flash drive directly into the tablet part

  • from Toronto, ON

Great 2 in 1

This tablet provides more than enough processing power for everyday tasks. i.e. web browsing, work processing and light gaming. Note that it's not the fastest tablet but will get the job done. Found a couple of nice additional features including Miracast! I can extend or duplicate the display onto my Miracast enabled TV, no cable required. Just make sure you have the latest Intel chipset drivers installed and you should be good to go! Expandable storage via micro sd, USB C recharging and a full USB port made this a no brainer for my particular requirements.

You get what you pay for

I really wanted to like this tablet. I really did. But I just can't recommend it. It's too slow and laggy, even compared to Windows tablets worth half the cost. On the plus side, the screen is crisp and large, but that's outweighed by the tablet being unusable. Tech support has been awful. I received a reply asking me to wait 7-10 days for another reply. Um, what? Save up a little more money and buy a real tablet.

  • from SK

It's great for what I need!!

I have only had mine for a few weeks but have not touched my other computer since I got it. It works great for what I need and I'm still learning many things about it. So far I'm really glad I got it.

  • from Edmonton, AB

Issues with Windows updates and touchpad.

Windows 10 automatically installed an audio driver update and lost sound (sound issue seems to be a common problem). Insignia's website is useless as there is no real support for the product. You can't actually download any of the drivers for this tablet at all. Using any official supposed sound drivers didn't work. I found on some blog someone was nice enough to post the drivers and finally go the sound back. The trackpad has generic mouse drivers so you cannot customize the trackpad functions. You keep getting the side swipe pop outs from Windows all the time (drives you nuts!). The USB C cable used to charge is pretty short. The battery does drain more than expected when it's in sleep. I wish it had 4GB of RAM to help it be a little smoother. The only really good thing about this unit is the screen with very good resolution. Good for watching videos if you can get the sound to stay working.

  • from Kitchener, ON

Good price for the Quality screen

Pros: 1) Good on price when it's on sale 2) Cristal screen than expected. Cons: 1) Slow reaction when you operate the Windows 10. 2) After initially installing of Windows 10, the free space on the 32GB EMMC is 17GB, but after couple of days, the free space low to ~7GB, the system eating the limited space so fast. This toy only for entertainment, not for professional work.

Spend your money elsewhere!

I bought this tablet 2 weeks ago. Used about 5 times the first week to set up. Tablet wasn't used the last week. Tried to turn it on last evening and it would not turn on. I let it set for 5 minutes and tried once again. Tablet turned on for about 3 minutes and then promptly shut itself off. Tried about 10 times since then to turn it on and there is no life in it whatsoever. It's going back for a refund!!!

  • from Port Coquitlam, BC

I am really happy with this little gem! Great product for the price. Still getting used to the keyboard which feels a cheap though but overall, I am very happy with this purchase. Tablet does attach/detach very easily which is nice. You really can't go wrong with this!

  • from St. John's, NL

Excellent value for cost

I am very impressed by the quality of this item. The screen is a bright and good looking 1080p: very crisp. I've got a 64GB card installed, have some Steam games installed on it. Works well running software from SD Card; once in a rare while I have to pop the card out and in again to mount the drive, but I have a feeling this is a Windows issue and not the tablet. The built-in USB ports on the keyboard unit work great. I can stream 1080p video from an external HDD or USB flash drive, you can also use a usb wireless mouse. Also USB hubs seem to work fine. Nice sized screen, great for streaming video. One drawback is that this tablet is not very robust (a bit delicate) so I would not recommend for children, nor anyone clumsy. Store it in a protective case is a must. Review written on the tablet btw.

I bought this product. It's great.....considering the price of it. Does everything I ask of it mind you I'm not a huge computer guy. However I split some water on the keyboard and now half of it doesn't work. I want to inquire about a replacement keyboard however BestBuy has been useless. BEST BUY PLEASE HELP

  • from Victoria, BC

Absolute garbage

Very slow, freezes all the time just changing windows 10 settings. The battery is weak and takes a long time to charge. The "trackpad" is not a real track pad, so you cannot switch the scroll direction and is extremely jump which results in unexpected behavior that creates a user experience so frustrating you may end up throwing the tablet into your tv. The microphone is not compatible with cortina making it unusable. Worthless do not buy.

  • from Calgary, AB

Unreliable, poor performance

Had this unit for a month, returning it promptly. Bought it to travel with, but crashed constantly, blue screens, sometimes just restarts. Win 10 is just too much for 32gb and 2gb of RAM and it shows. Was a nice unit when it runs good, but when it does this with web browsing? I'll try the higher spec'd acer.

  • from London, ON

Good product!

Bought two of these for the kids. No complaints at all.

  • from Winnipeg, MB

Appropriate Name

Its a good little unit for the price, but there are a few issues. One it is flexible and as such the keyboard often causes the cursor to jump around the document. I don't know what the screen is made of but it scratches if you look at it wrong. Tinny speaker and low volume in the headset round out the issues. Good as a travel tablet, nice and light, the separating keyboard is good. But you are getting what you pay for.

  • from Etobicoke, ON

you get what you pay for

269 is OK for a Win10 tablet incl. the keyboard. The Intel Atom Z8300 is very slow and can not be used in a normal productive environment. 2GB of RAM can be felt in pretty much every application. It is just too low for a Computer in 2016. Browsing website with a Chrome browser will keep the CPU load between 75 and 100%. Atto Disk Speedtest will result in max 140MB/s read and 60 MB/s write performance. Again... you get what you pay for.

11.6" Insignia NS-P11W7100-C 32GB Tablet

Bought the NS-P11W7100-C from Best Buy Canada last week and I'm very satisfied. They don't mention this on the BB Canada site but it has an ISP panel. This is a big plus that really helps with viewing angles. On the BB site the specs say that it supports SD and SDHC cards but the latter only goes up to 32GB. This tablet also supports micro SDXC up to 128GB (Micro SDXC can go up to 2TB but the Insignia documentation says this unit will only work with cards up to 128GB so I haven't tried anything larger). The specs on the BB site also say USB 3.0 = No but there are 2 usb full sized female ports on the keyboard portion and at least 1 if not both are usb 3.0. It's in the Insignia PDF manual and the usb 3.0 controller is also listed in the device list. I was able to connect a 3TB externally powered drive to the usb port, move data back and forth to the internal storage or a micro sd card and play TS/M2TS and MKV HD format video with AC3 audio straight from the external drive with no problems. I also own a usb to sata/ide externally powered connector and was able to attach a spare (normally internal) DVD writer via usb. Windows recognized the device and read the discs with no problems. I installed my favorite freeware dvd disc writing program and was able to write data files on a DVD/RW. This is very handy to install some software that comes on a CD or DVD since generally small laptops and tablets don't come with a dvd drive and I wondered if this would work. For anyone who wonders about desktop software compatibility you can run many Windows desktop apps and programs since this tablet runs a full 32 bit Windows Home version of the OS. I also own an inexpensive usb bus-powered usb atsc OTA tv tuner device and it installed and worked perfectly allowing me to tune some OTA local stations. This could come in handy in case of a power outage as long as the OTA stations are transmitting and the tablet has power. Of course to make it perfect one could always ask for: - more ram 4GB would be better with Win10 than 2GB - 64GB of internal storage would be much better than 32 to store installed apps and for win10 upgrade space up. - A similar tablet from another manufacturer also allows the tablet to be pulled off and mounted backwards so that the keyboard section can be used as a stand allowing for more hinge angle movement when the unit is sitting lower than eye level. So far the sky is the limit all normal XP, win7and win10 32 bit desktop apps I use have loaded and run fine with this tablet. It's almost a laptop. I'm loving this tablet. I'm giving it high marks for price and functionality compared to higher priced similar featured name brands

worked poorly

Bought this tablet and within 48 hours had to return to the store as the battery would charge. the store gave me a new one. One month of owning this product i could not connect to internet so back to the store for them to fix it Now 2 months later this device freezes up shuts itself down and the screen flickers off and on. Some days the touch screen would not work at all. very unhappy with this product and i called the store and will be returning it this week for something different. will never buy this brand again

perfect for modest needs!

Excellent tablet, at an equally excellent price. The 11.6 FHD screen looks beautiful. Please, take this machine for what it is. Do not expect core series laptop processing power; it is running an atom processor after all. However, that said, you can't ask for much more for what it is. Day to day tasks such as web browsing, Netflix and online banking will run very smoothly. I have even had no trouble watching 1080p YouTube videos. The keyboard is as accurate and responsive as you could hope for. I was pleasantly surprised. The track pad can be a little touchy at times but for the most part it should give no serous trouble. As long as you do not expect heavy graphics and processing performance, and just take this tablet for what it is, you will undoubtedly enjoy the experience.

So far so good

I bought this one for travel purposes because of its features: two USB2, micro SD, headphone jack, HDMI, Bluetooth etc. - great for leisurely surfing, transfer photos to flash drive, project to HDTV, Bluetooth speakers etc. All that convenience and I can leave my iPad at home. After two days, the wireless network driver was gone, and I had to do a recovery from the flash drive that Geek Squad gave me when they set it up. It's been almost a week since then, and so far so good! This machine is good for light use and convenience. Well worth it for the price.

Not to expect to much from it

Bought it and returning it ...very slow ...also keyboard attachment keep getting disconnected even with small vibration. ..latch feels like its weak ...touch screen is ok but not so responsive due low processing speed ..also windows 10 itselft not user friendly. kills the whole joy of owing a tablet ...getting android tablet now

What a piece

Got this via courier as they didn't have it in stock locally. Literally within minutes the speakers stopped working, it was moving super slowly, and when I restarted it to see if that would help, it locked me out and even insignia couldn't help me with it. Returned within 4 hours of receiving. Looks nice and is lightweight but nothing more to say that's positive.

Pretty Good Tablet

So I bought this tablet in the summer to use in school and it does what I need it for. It is great for school work and light gaming for when you need a break. It has a very nice sized keyboard and screen that was easy to adjust to from a normal computer. My only complaint about the tablet is that it heats up really easy and gets fairly hot. Thankfully the keyboard stay cool but when the screen gets hot, it can be very annoying. Overall, I would suggest this to any student (or anyone) who needs something light weight and simple with a decent battery life.

mmm not really!!!

Looks good initially...... but without 4 gigs of Ram this thing really doesn't make it. For watching a film OK ...but really just ignore this thing you cannot even use it as a platform for powerpoint presentations ..just not enough oomph! so find a Chinese unit which has 4 gigs online and then it is worth considering .but at [price] more
