Driver not found for Windows 7 64-bit (Solved by digging through forums)

I had a problem finding the driver. The official Insignia site was of no use, and I could not find the matching driver on the Broadcom website. Searching through the forums I was able to find a compatible HP packaged driver that works on my custom built desktop. It should therefore work for anyone. ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp74501-75000/sp74543.exe Hardware seems to work, but it's unacceptable that Insignia does not include instructions on getting drivers in the package or even the website. https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/bcm20702a0-bluetooth-driver/td-p/5930521 1-star removed for no drivers included in the package (Packaging on back says device is compatible with WIndows 7). 1-star removed for no drivers on official Insignia website. 1-star removed for lack of instructions on drivers in the package 1-star removed for having to use drivers from another company TL;DR; Wasted my time hunting for drivers, but ultimately it can work.

No User Friendly, Instrucions Inadequate

The Quick Setup Guide explains setup, but not how to connect with other devices. It asks the user to refer to the User Guide, which is online for more information. I went online but couldn't find the English version. I finally got a device to connect through trial and error. I used it to transmit audio, but the sound quality isn't very good.

Doesn't work with Windows 7, but even on Windows 10 audio is choppy

I had to upgrade my PC to Windows 10 for this thing to even properly pair with my Sony XB950N1 wireless headset (Something about drivers not being found) But even with Windows 10 and proper pairing, my headphones are less than a foot away from the dongle (Both powered USB 3.0 and unpowered USB 3.0) and the audio gets ridiculously choppy to the point of unlistenable after 2.5 minutes of continuous audio. Launched PUBG just to test, and instead of being choppy, the audio just gives up trying to transmit after a couple minutes, until I shut off the game. Not quite sure what else to do, other than return this thing and try something else. At least I have Windows 10 now...

Great product

Made an account so I could post this review. I was worried before purchasing after reading so many negative reviews, but this Bluetooth adapter worked perfectly for me. I am running Windows 10 on my PC and just plugged it in, connected my devices (through the Bluetooth settings option that comes up in the pop up in the bottom right of the screen by the time - just paired them like pairing Bluetooth on any other device and voila! Worked perfectly). There are a lot of negative reviews on here for this, but with Windows 10 it worked great for me.

Don't buy

This bluetooth adapter will and only will work with PC Microsoft software. Don't bother trying it with anything else. No, it won't work on your Smart TV. Neither on your Xbox or PS. Your staff doesn't know what they are talking about. They guaranteed me that it would work on my TV. I also tried to call Insignia support : Big pile of... You are going to fall in the infinite loop of saved messages. I am really not happy. It cost my time and money to go to the shop for nothing.

Unbelievable..

I can't believe this people are still selling this garbage without knowing that the software for this product to work DOESN'T EXIST anymore and nowhere to be found! total waste of money. go and buy the asus adapter since it also came with the software adapter installer. DO NOT BUY THIS!

Won't Pair With Win 7

Like everyone else, this won't pair when my Microsoft Surface. I did get the driver to work but it won't associate it with the device. I'm more frustrated than anything because I asked staff in store about this problem, and they assured me it would work.

Seemed to work fine for me.

Windows 10 automatically installs the necessary drivers. Headphones etc connected instantly. It even detected the neighbors BOSE speaker system, and that's a good 50 feet away at least. Not sure why others had so many problems!? The main reason I bought a bluetooth USB dongle was for PS3 controllers. I had my PS3 controllers working via Bluetooth in less than 10 minutes. Hint: SCP Driver and Zadig It's a Broadcom chip... pretty common. If you try hard enough it'll work fine.

Terrible device - doesn't work with windows 7

The device won't pair with the computer although it says it is compatible with windows 7. After following instructions (including necessary downloads) still won't work. Had to YouTube instructions to find out that the device actually is no longer compatible with windows 7. Need to install manually. Still not working after an hour of trying to download and fix.

Driver would not download

I purchased the Insignia Bluetooth 4.0 adapter as a gift for my father to go with his Bluetooth headphones I bought. the software downloaded from the website but no windows driver could be found. Broadcom does not offer driver downloads from their website. I tried to install the driver on two separate computers and neither worked out. On windows 7 ultimate and windows 10. both instances resulted in me wanting to rip my head off due to frustration. Windows would search for the driver and take up to 5 min looking for the hardware but couldn't find it. I tried a dozen times at least. after looking online I was able to confirm that my issue was common and that the driver seems to be non-existent. try to do more research before buying this adapter.

Not compatible with Windows 7.

Even though the product's packaging states that it works with a Windows 7 operating system, it doesn't. Your Win7 PC will fail to automatically install the driver for it. There are no Windows 7 drivers available to download for this product online, even on the Insignia website. Insignia's support said that "it's a Windows issue", and Microsoft support said "it's an Insignia issue". DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT FOR A WINDOWS 7 COMPUTER. Unless you enjoy returning things you've bought.

Bad sound quality

This unit is powered by a broadcom usb bluetooth chipset and should be avoided by linux users because of its proprietary firmware.
