- Entry level robot- April 11, 2021
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Ok this is my 5th vacuuming robot; this one I got for a specific single room, where I just got tired of moving any others to. This is my first Roomba, but my daughter has one. They obviously cut some corners to keep the price down. Roomba for years continued to improve their robots, making them more and more expensive, with the 600 series they've decided to attack the entry level market. For example this robot only supports 2.4G wi-fi, all my others support both 2.4G and 5G; before I got this I moved to a single wifi name for both my 2.4 and 5G products; well I could not get Roomba to connect to my dual network. So I changed my routers setting to expose both networks, not a big deal but it should have worked. I just got another product I could not get to work on my network that was 2.4G only, so I would have probably done this anyhow. My next complaint about the Roomba, is you can't tell when it's charging, when it first "arrives home" you can see the low battery indicator, but then it goes off and stays off unless push a button, or tell it do do something via wifi you cant tell if it's charging/charged. The base is ALSO very light, the robot has trouble arriving home without bumping into/moving it charging base (I think I'll use alien tape to adhere if better). The home button caused it to return home, not in a very efficient fashion, but the go home command in the app did not do the same, although it said it did. This Roomba just moves in a random matter, no form of room mapping, it bumps into thinks and re-adjusts. It moves fairly quickly, but it only has one power level (most of my other bots have at least hi/lo); it does a good job of negotiating carpet (better than some of my others), it like my others will happily eat my carpet fringe, at first I did not think the suction was strong enough to suck up the fringe, but I was wrong (see picture). On hardwood and tile floors, it tends to blow some dust instead of just sucking it up, another picture show some dust after running an hour, I saw it go over this point several times, but it would turn and blow against the wall moving dirt before it got to it, I had some garlic paper on the floor that never got picked up. I think the exhaust is disrupting it's cleaning duties. On carpet is does a much better job, it did a great job of picking up crumbs under my dining room table, event with all the chair legs to work around. The plastic dust bin is fairly large and well designed, it's easy to remove and empty, but because it is plastic it does re-attract some amount of dust. On my "big" tile room I thought the robot was a little on the noisy side, on carpet it's not as noticable. Dust does aslo stick to the front of the unit, you will want to wipe the front down every time you empty it. It has dual rotating "cleaners", one rubber and the other brushes, the rubber paddles seem to prevent the brushes from collecting hair (a good design). For the price this robot is competitive, but it's no where near as smart as their higher end (3-4x the price). How i'm planning using it, it will be more than adequate. This is where my wife call me Mr Obvious....Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
- Less Time Cleaning, More Time Living- April 12, 2021
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The iRobot Roomba 694 has been a very welcome addition to our home maintenance routine. We have used similar vacuum robots from other companies but this Roomba is a level above them. We have two pets (cat and dog) so we have lots of pet hair on the carpet. This Roomba handles pet hair without constantly requiring brush maintenance so that's a huge win. The large rollers and ample capacity for debris ensures minimal time spent maintaining the Roomba 694 itself. Out of the box setup was simple. Make sure you have a 2.4GHz wireless network or Bluetooth to complete the app setup. In about 20 minutes our new Roomba was charging. The next morning and days since we have had it run a 30 minute cleaning routine that noticably cuts down on animal hair. The only minor hiccup is that it likes to explore everywhere it can fit and sometimes get stuck. Overall, we couldn't ask for a better cleaning companion!Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
- If You Need to Relax, Roomba is the Answer- April 3, 2021
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] iRobot's Roomba is a rather effective cleaning tool that can be ran for up to an hour, hands free, with a simple button push or with the app on your phone. It's smart technology that revolutionizes vacuuming when you're beat from a long week and don't want to drag out the whole vacuum. The battery seems to be great once fully charged and lasts up to an hour while cleaning. The app seems to work great with the Roomba, making it a smart vacuum. And emptying out the collected dust and debris is easy and the maintenance of the device seems to be minimal and infrequent. I would recommend this device as a companion to your existing vacuum for when you're not quite in the mood to vacuum yourself.Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
- Great Entry Level Roomba, Dont Expect Much- April 4, 2021
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Before i start I will do a shorter list form review then I will go into detail. Pros -Wifi Connectivity -great suction -modern design -easy to use -app easy to navigate Cons -gets stuck or scratched on furniture -no mapping unlike the more expensive ones -ok with pet hair will probably struggle if your pets have long fur I had the roomba e5 before this one and they are almost identical in every way, the only big difference is that the e5 has 2 rubber brushes which helps with long pet hairs. Also the e5 did not have mapping just like this one. One more thing to note is the house I currently live in does not have carpet and it mostly consists of hardwood floor and tile. All right now let me start by saying that the Roomba 694 is the top entry level roomba. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles the other higher end roombas do, and it is understandable for the price point. I will also say I would recommend this more to either someone who doesn't have much furniture in their house, has a smaller house, or an older person who does not know much about technology. Let me explain why. The sensors on the Roomba 694 will activate when they hit something, sometimes it will try to avoid doing this, and also it doesn't have any sensors up top. Meaning that it will bounce around your walls and furniture until it learns its way around them. There is also one big issue that I have, I even had this same issue with my other roomba, and that is that the roomba will get stuck or will get scratched with furniture that is about 4 inches off the floor. I would recommend checking if you have a lot of furniture that fits this description before buying any of the entry level roombas including this one, and if you do, I would recommend getting one of the higher end ones. Now the cleaning sensors are good and will keep your floors clean, but i would say it works best for smaller spaces. This is where the mapping and learning features on the higher end models come in handy. I used to live in a bigger house before, and the e5 I used to have did not have the mapping feature, which sometimes would either make the roomba stay in a single room until it ran out of battery, or bounce around the rooms but not clean them thoroughly. What the mapping feature does along with the AI, is that it learns where the places with the most traffic are and prioritizes them over something like an empty room. So if you have a bigger house I would recommend you getting one of the higher end models. Now for someone young, the app and the features it offers is easy to learn, but for someone who is older or someone who has difficulty learning technology, they will have a harder time learning the ins and outs. The app is pretty straight forward, there is a start option, schedule, and history tab along with videos that will show you how to maintain the machine. Honestly there is not much too it, i will say the hardest part is setting up the device to work with the wifi. At the end it might sound like I am unhappy with the machine, but on the contrary, I am very pleased because it meets all my needs. The only reason why my review sounds like a caution label is because I want to help whoever is looking to buy a roomba buy the right one. These vacuums are really good the thing is that you gotta find the right one for you.Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
- Finally - No More Cords for Me!- April 5, 2021
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I absolutely love the iRobot Roomba 694!! I plugged it in when I got it, and set up the app on my phone, which was super simple. After just a short time, it was ready to go. Just told it to get to work, using the app, and it started going around the room and vacuumed nicely. It does have a small spot where debris is collected, and that has to be cleared out frequently. I hope that it learns the path while cleaning, so that it doesn't get stuck under the couch again. It was easy to get it out and on the path again, so no problem. It does a great job cleaning, and leaves the room looking amazing. I love it!! I would definitely recommend it to anyone that wants their home looking amazing!Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
