  • The battery life sucks

from victoria bc on July 25, 2019

i have had other kobos with back lights before. I would read 4 to 8 hrs a day and they would last minimum 4 weeks on a full charge. The Forma what a joke two days at the most. at the end of and 8-9 hrs of reading it would have to be charged. I love everything else about it. nice size extra room to be able to hold it, light . to bad very disappointed. I returned one thinking it was a dude replaced it with another one. both were the same.

  • Excellent. Highly recommend.

I have had the Forma for 26 books. This is the best e-reader I have ever used. Easy to hold and read with one hand. Light, ergonomic. Battery life is excellent. Wifi is quick. Will be picking one up for my wife this week,

  • A huge misstep from Kobo

from Toronto, Ontario on April 22, 2019

I bought one last week, returned it for an exchange hoping that I'll win the "Forma lottery" but the 2nd unit was even worse. Refunded it and decided to stick with the far superior Aura ONE. The issues are both unit specific and also flaws in design. For one, the LEDs are PWM based. This is not a feature that should ever show up in any ereader, let alone a flag-ship, expensive model. If you can overlook that (and you really shouldn't), then comes the ugly light band on the chin side of the unit. My 2 units had this, and it appears to be part of the design. You won't have to google much to find that it's there on most, if not all units. My 1st unit also wasn't lit uniformly. One side was darker than the other. It was very noticeable. The 2nd unit seems to have been refurbished, even though the box had the Kobo seal on it (so it wasn't an Best Buy open item). Also, the buttons were really soft. Just touching them made a sound that was distracting and felt cheap. Oh, and the power buttons on both were stiff - seems to also be by design and it's absolutely a terrible design. Even if this was half the price, I would still avoid the Forma.
